Chapter 215 – Cat Dad’s Air Superiority

<You have leveled up!>

<Your max HP has increased by 116.>

<Your metal spiritual roots have increased by 15.>

BURP!

In the public bathhouse, Xiaomao, in his human form, sat in the murky bathtub and patted his bloated belly. He tossed away the half-broken marble tile that he had peeled from the wall and chew the handful of concrete in his mouth.

The broken wall that Xiaomao had peeled and eaten was instantly restored. The chunk of tile and concrete vanished as well. However, the murky water in the bathtub remained.

Xiaomao looked at the time. It was already 6.30 AM.

He stood up and moved out of the bathtub. Instantly, the impurity in the bathtub entered the drains and was replaced with clean water.

Xiaomao waved his hands and dismissed the notification messages. Then, he brought out Mimir’s bible and read it.

‘2nd-stage mortal cultivator is the bone refining realm. My job is to purify my bone marrow until it starts producing Qi blood. Now, my level is close to 300, but my bone marrow hasn’t been thoroughly cleansed yet. Won’t this affect my foundation?’

Xiaomao scratched his head and shapeshifted into a catopus. He turned around and jumped into the clean water in the bathtub.

PLOP

In less than a minute, the clean water turned black because of Xiaomao’s sweat and grime on his fur. The foul smell of feces returned, preventing Xiaomao’s subordinates from using the public bathhouse.

Xiaomao floated on top of the water. He sighed.

‘Should I temporarily stop using Taotie’s techniques?’

While pondering, Xiaomao looked at his current status.

This was the result of Taotie’s cultivation method. Because of the repeated stat gains by eating, the attributes didn’t suit a game character, which only gained about 60 stats per level. Even a 4th grade-schooler could tell that the math didn’t add up.

Still, the increase in Xiaomao’s attack power and defense seemed lackluster even though his stats increased by almost twofold. He began to wonder if he had committed a mistake somewhere during the cultivation.

“Hmm. What to do…”

Xiaomao closed his eyes to think. He thought of Taotie’s book and recited the part that the senior always reminded him of.

‘When in doubt, EAT A BETTER FOOD!’

“Right. I should eat more. Come to think of it, I haven’t tried eating a fellow human yet…”

Xiaomao paused for a few seconds before he slapped his face several times and sank himself in the dirty water.

“WHAT WAS I THINKING, MUNYA?! WHY AM I THINKING OF EATING HUMANS?! THAT’S CANNIBALISM AND DISGUSTING!!”

.

.

At 6:55, Xiaomao finally came out of the bathhouse. The water tube was automatically cleaned, and the nasty smell was gone.

When the catopus returned to the lobby, he found everybody there.

The mermen seemed prepared this time. None of them seemed to be too nervous or excited. Also, nobody had a stomach problem, which was reassuring.

John rushed to Xiaomao and passed him a stack of A4 papers. Xiaomao took the papers and read them.

It was a long list of appointment reservations and their request details. Several guild leaders and representatives wanted to meet Xiaomao for business and alliance.

Xiaomao passed the papers back, “John, arrange the list and invite the people if you can. I’ll handle the meetings after today’s match, munya. Oh, you won’t be deployed in this battle, so you can take your time.”

John grinned and saluted. Then, he stored the papers in his inventory.

When Xiaomao was done with John, Lucky came to him next.

“What’s the plan for this fight, master? Our next opponent is somewhat smarter than Shu Han. I saw their match. Their guild used an ant army strategy and spammed the battlefield with low-level players to hog all quests. I don’t think we can use the same tactic in the last match twice.”

Xiaomao deeply exhaled. He waved his tentacle, dismissing Lucky’s worries.

“Then, this fight will be easy, munya. I won’t be deploying anyone or building anything.”

“Err… eh?”

“Just wait and see, munya. Did you forget that I can fly?”

“O-Oh…”

Lucky was still baffled, but she believed in him. Meanwhile, Shepherd and others looked at each other in confusion, unable to predict how the match would turn out.

7 AM

Once again, Xiaomao and his guild members were summoned to the same battlefield. The crew got trapped in the transparent cube while Xiaomao was the only one in the guild castle.

As soon as Xiaomao got his bearings, he rode a flying sword toward the opponent’s castle right away.

Xiaomao’s opponent guild, the Big Fish Guild, was one of the top guilds from World One, which competed against Hiiro Narukami.

The guild leader, Mega Whale, was a successful French streamer. His followers and friends joined his guild, and they came here for the big prize.

Mega Whale’s character was also unique. He had an ultra-rare high-elf character, but he wore a costume of a merman. The merman costume opened its mouth and revealed Mega Whale’s face, which wasted his handsome face.

When Mega Whale noticed that Xiaomao used the same strategy, he smirked and laughed.

“Alright, nerds! Let’s go grab some quests!”

Mega Whale instantly summoned 10 guild members to the field right away. All of their levels ranged between one and ten!

The suicide squad appeared and rushed out of the castle, grabbed the nearest NPCs on the battlefield, and ran back inside.

By the time Xiaomao arrived in front of their castle, the squad already secured the quests.

Out of the 10 quests, seven were completed right away. The Big Fish Guild’s SP rose to 3,500 at once while Xiaomao’s SP was only 200!

Mega Whale burst into laughter as he summoned 20 of his strangest range damage dealers. He pointed at the sky, where Xiaomao was.

“As planned, shoot him down and end it!”

The archers, mages, and javelin throwers climbed the stairs and got on the castle walls.

Meanwhile, Xiaomao carefully measured the range between him and the two obelisks of Mega Whale’s castle. He calmly piloted the flying sword to climb higher to the point that he almost touched the clouds. Then, he tried getting directly above the castle.

The obelisks lit up, but they didn’t fire at Xiaomao. He was out of range.

The people on the ground tried using their spells and skills to attack Xiaomao. Unfortunately, their abilities could not even reach the cat in the sky.

Seeing that his plan worked, Xiaomao looked around to find Big Fish’s guild leader. It wasn’t hard to locate the stupid-looking elf in the merman costume.

Xiaomao brought out a crossbow and an explosive bolt. Then, he used a skill on them.

One Man Thousand Arrow!

A thousand bolts rained upon the crowd on the wall. None of them hit anyone since Xiaomao didn’t even set a target.

However, as soon as the bolts hit the ground, they exploded. Debris flew everywhere, and the brick walls partially crumbled, and many players died from the fall damage and explosions.

“MU-NYA-NYA!”

Followed by the random explosions, a massive fireball descended upon Mega Whale.

The guild leader looked up and revealed a wry smile. He didn’t expect that Xiaomao would exploit the air superiority to bully them.

“Is this even allowed?!” Mega Whale complained before the fireball exploded on him.

BOOM

61,319 DAMAGE!

No regular player had that much HP. The guild leader was burnt to ash on the spot.

DING

<You have killed Mega Whale!>

<Due to the Event World’s restrictions, you cannot gain levels, items, or status during the guild war.>

Xiaomao read the message and sighed. He muttered to himself.

“What a waste, munya. I could have stolen that guy’s wealth and stats. Oh, well… GG.”

Xiaomao turned his flying sword around and returned to his castle, waiting for the match to automatically conclude.

North Carolina

A certain room of a condominium was brightly lit even though it was 7 PM here. In the master bedroom, a teenager kicked open the capsule hatch and jumped off his game console. He rushed to his laptop computer to look at the replay of his match.

Currently, the official live stream channel of the game company was replaying the footage of Xiaomao’s match earlier. The camera showed how Xiaomao hovered above his opponent’s castle and bombarded the castle wall into ruins.

“I-Is this even legal?!” The female commentator couldn’t stop laughing. She seemed to be enjoying how the match quickly ended.

Pan Mei, the son of Pan Xian, was a commentator as well. His red face and the swelling blood vessels in his face revealed how mad he was.

Even though Pan Mei was angry, he managed to control his voice.

“This will definitely be patched before tomorrow. This tactic shouldn’t be allowed at all!”

The female commentator thought otherwise, “Air superiority and air suppression are one of the best military tactics in the real world, though. Characters with flight abilities should be able to do this much, right?”

“But the guild war is supposed to be fair and enjoyable to everybody. Oh, well. I doubt we can patch it within today, but there won’t be any of this stupid trick tomorrow.”

“Hahaha. Mr. Pan. You are a dog person, aren’t you?”

“What’s that have to do with a dog person?!”

The conversation was sidetracked, and Mega Whale no longer listened to them. He looked at the timer.

34 seconds was the time it took for Xiaomao to win this match.

Mega Whale leaned on his chair. He covered his face.

“This stupid game! In server one, Hiiro took everything. And what is this? A stupid Yuumi knockoff that can nuke cities?! How am I supposed to compete with them?!”

While Mega Whale was lamenting and venting his frustration, a woman’s voice entered his mind.

‘I see that you hate them.’

Mega Whale looked around in shock, “WHO IS IT?!”

White gas came out from the game capsule and manifested a young girl with white hair, who seemed to be about 5 or 6 years old. She looked up and smiled at the French man.

“My name is Amon. You can call me Amon-chan!”

“…”

Although Mega Whale was a young streamer with good eloquence, he wasn’t good at dealing with children. He stared at the Loli.

“Where’re you from? Are you lost?”

Amon pouted. She walked toward Mega Whale and lightly stomped his right foot.

“!!!”

As soon as she hit him, Mega Whale’s foot was crushed. The latter collasped on his knees and held the foot in pain.

Amon snorted and crossed her chest. She looked down at him.

“You have two choices, mister. First, become my servant, and I’ll give you the power to deal with annoying players like Hiiro or Xiaomao. Or second, I’ll tell the FBI that you kidnapped me! Pick one!”

Mega Whale was confused and helpless. He looked at the little girl once again.

“W-Who the hell are you?! What are you?!”

Amon pouted again, “I just told you that I’m Amon! I’m a demon lord of Solomon’s Netherworld! Hmph!”

“…”
