Witch's Daughter And The Devil's Son

Chapter 90 - Audacious Like Master

After talking with Erich Winfield, King Armen returned to Seren's chamber, leaving other matters related to the Kingdom in Cian's care. Nothing was more important to him than his daughter at the moment. Seren Being the third Princess of Abetha, no one had a say in it as just like any other sick royal in the palace, they had to halt important things that needed King Armen's presence.

Cian arrived there to inform his father about something. He sat in the chair beside his father.

"Any progress with her?" Cian asked his father as he looked at his weak-looking sister, who was still sitting in the bed, trying to hide herself from others.

"She rejected the food and did not even take medicine," King Armen informed.

"I want to have a word with father," Cian said.

King Armen nodded lightly to let him continue.

"That eagle….."

Screech!

Thud!

The sudden arrival of Dusk with loud screeching noise interrupted Cian, and another sound was made by what that eagle had carried with him and landed in the window sill.

Both father and the son stood up from the chair and saw Seren was looking at him.

The two looked puzzled to see what that eagle had carried. A blue silk cloth wrapped around something square-shaped inside it.

'Is it something dangerous?' King Armen thought, and Cian was ready with his sword to deal with if something happened.

Dusk carried that rectangular thing to Seren and kept it by her feet.

The two royals and the two nurses could only look at Seren and Dusk, not knowing what was going on, but the way Seren only reacted when Dusk arrived, they were sure she knew what that bird had brought.

Dusk Pecked on that blue silk-covered box twice and then looked at Seren, but she was still and only looked at him and then at the box.

Seeing she didn't touch the box he brought, Dusk tried to open the knot on that silk cloth by pulling it with his beak, but it seems impossible or would take him time to open the knot.

"This eagle belongs to the King of Megaris," Cian informed.

Feeling shocked, king Armen looked at his son, "Are you sure."

"Yes, father. Our soldiers and guards saw it a few days back flying towards Seren's tower carrying something. They even tried to shoot him with arrows, but he saved himself. Later they searched for where that eagle came from, and Megaris' knights told them he is King Drayce's pet."

"Why didn't anyone inform me?" King Armen asked as the frowned lined appeared on his forehead.

"Knowing it belonged to the king who is our guest, they didn't bother with that eagle and didn't even report it to us. Moreover, father was busy dealing with matters between the Kingdoms and sudden war, so they didn't find it important to trouble their king," Cian explained.

"Why did he go to Seren?" King Armen asked.

"That we need to ask King Drayce," Cian replied.

First, those elixir pills that Erich Wienfiled Mentioned, and now this eagle. Why the King of Megaris was associated with things related to his daughter. What exactly was happening that he was not aware of.

When the two were talking as their eyes were still fixed on Seren and the eagle, they suddenly stopped talking, seeing Seren finally touched that thing the eagle had brought for her.

Seren could see dusk trying his best to open the knot but couldn't, so she reached out to help him.

With the slow and weak movement of her lightly shivering hands, Seren opened the knot of the silk cloth and stopped. Seeing her not touching the box, Dusk pecked on the box with his beak.

As if she was a kid who needed to be guided on what to do, she followed Dusk's instruction that he gave in his own way. Surprisingly she could understand what he meant as if her mind was open only to him.

With her hand shivering slightly due to the weakness, Seren opened the lid of the box.

King Armen and Cian wished to go to her to see what was in that box, more precisely to check if there was something that would harm her. The moment they took a step ahead, Dusk screeched and glared at them as he had spread his wings.  It was his way to warn them to stay away. Seeing the two had understood his warning, Dusk folded back his wings.

A mere bird had more authority over their princess than them. He dared to stop them from going to her.

Cian frowned, "Audacious like his master."

Cian wished to slice that brazen bird in two but seeing his sister, he somehow controlled himself. He looked at the nurse standing nearby Seren's bed, and she understood what Prince Cian wished to say.

"It is food, your highness," she informed.

It surprised the two Royals. They already had so many questions in mind, and more were getting added to it.

Drayce was away on a rescue mission just after two days he reached Abetha, then when exactly he and his pet had met Seren. Not possible because she was always in her tower. In Martha's absence, she didn't go out either. Did the King of Megaris sneak into her tower? Seeing how he could easily cross the magic spell barrier, it was highly possible.

Dusk signaled Seren to pick up the spoon by rubbing his head against her delicate hand and then pushed the silver spoon inside the box with his beak.

Seren only did what he said and kept holding on to the spoon. Poor Dusk had turned into her nanny, who had to tell her everything, but he didn't seem annoyed. Instead, this eagle looked worried for her and determined not to give up on her till she ate that food.

Dusk pushed her hand towards the porridge bowl, and finally, she dipped the spoon in it. Dusk looked like he would have fed her if he had hands, but the poor thing could only direct her.

King Armen and Cian didn't know how to react to one bird's efforts to feed the princess, who looked lost.

"Would it be safe to let her eat?" Cian asked.

"Let's not disturb them," said King Armen.
