Chapter 339 - Ji Yao Takes A Hard Hit

In one breath he vanished on the spot and reappeared right next to the glowing light seeping through the fur. It was a bright indigo light concentrated in one spot under all that fur and skin.

Rui Fei parted the thick disgusting fur to the side like parting a curtain. Because the fur was coated with a thick waxy material it made it difficult for Rui Fei to keep the fur apart so he could see the skin underneath.

Because the creature obviously hadn't taken a bath in its entire life there was dust and indistinguishable material trapped on the fur. Rui Fei ignored this disturbing fact and used his seraphic energy to keep the fur apart.

The creature was doing a lot of moving from the fight with Rui Fei but he didn't care. If it was anyone else they would have been holding on to dear life as though riding a thrill ride at an amusement park. He on the other hand was stuck on the fur like a leech refusing to barge.

The hide underneath the fur had a dark shade of indigo glowing brighter than a lighthouse beacon. He could even see the outline of its vital veins under such a bright light. He wasted no time summing up his seraphic energy to stab through the tough hide.

Soon his body was surrounded by a very dark grey fog and as he opened his eyes the fog transformed into blades sharp enough to cleanly slice through a diamond. The rotating blades surrounded by a misty aura immediately stabbed at the creature's hide intending to slice through but something unexpected happened.

The blade didn't slice but was instead absorbed through the hide. The keystone had basically absorbed his seraphic energy just like that. "Fuck," he swore under his breath. That is to say, he didn't expect something like this to happen.

Before he even had time to think the light underneath the hide became brighter before an explosive force flung him off the creature and he landed on the ground with such a fierce strength that he left a dent on the surface with soil and debris flying everywhere.

Ji Yao who was engaged in a heated confrontation with the Aoyin creature saw this and his heart panicked. The two energies were pushing hard against each other and Ji Yao had the advantage but the moment he saw Rui Fei being shot out a great distance he panicked losing the upper hand altogether.

The creature saw this and took full advantage expanding its energy exponentially. The indigo light mixed with a bright red overwhelmed Ji Yao's seraphic energy and forcefully permeated his aetherial veins causing massive damage.

Ji Yao's eyes widened as an agonizing pain spread through his aetherial veins pushing back his seraphic energy. If this foreign energy entered his aether then death was inevitable.

With his gaze transfixed on Rui Fei who remained unmoving on the ground, a dull ache spread across his heart. He didn't care what would happen to himself. All he cared about was Rui Fei's safety. Ji Yao closed his eyes with beads of cold sweat flowing down his forehead and the veins on his neck throbbing from all the pain.

Stretching his aether beyond capacity he exponentially gathered an explosive amount of seraphic energy. Just at the moment, the foreign energy was about to infiltrate his aether he clenched his fist and cried out as an explosive amount of energy escaped his core pushing back the intrusive force.

The veins on his neck and arms became more pronounced with crimson and blue lights visible from underneath the skin. He felt like his entire body was being torn apart but he didn't succumb to the pain.

The Aoyin creature didn't expect such an outcome. This meant it wasn't prepared. Under the explosive force, it was pushed back with its giant body rolling on the ground. It tried to steady itself but whenever it got back to its feet it would be blown back.

Ji Yao's seraphic energy soon vanished and the entire forest fell into dead silence. The creature had fallen a few feet away leaving behind drag marks. Its body had dug through two meters of soil and the vegetation around it was basically non-existent.

The light in Ji Yao's eyes dimmed. His body that could barely hold on lost the support from his aether that suddenly shut down and he fell limply to the ground. He crashed straight into some trees resulting in further injuries but he didn't seem to care about himself.

With great difficulty, he crawled out of the broken trees his bloodshot eyes fixed on the still unmoving Rui Fei. The rocks and broken tree branches scraped his skin through the cloth but he didn't seem to notice. A cracking sound of a branch and a painful hiss ended the dead silence. Ji Yao had sucked in a cold breath of air from the pain.

That branch had aggravated a deep wound on his body that he hadn't even noticed. When he slightly turned his body he found part of a tree trunk stabbed through his abdomen.

Because the adrenaline had worn off his pain receptors were reactivated. But despite all of this Ji Yao looked straight ahead at the hole where Rui Fei lay.

He stretched his hand to continue crawling but from the grim expression on his face, he was in excruciating pain. With a trembling hand, he grabbed one of the nodes and tried to use it to pull him up but it broke and a partially rotten skull with tiny critters popped out.

Ji Yao couldn't hold back the urge to throw up so he did but vomited out a mouthful of blood instead. When the muscles of his abdomen involuntarily contracted it affected the wound. The extensive pain caused Ji Yao to pass out.

The Aoyin creature should have suffered grievous harm under Ji Yao's explosive attack but because it had the backing of the keystone it arose like the undead much more infuriated than before. Looking around through the settling dust it searched for the culprit and when it found him it staggered towards him.

A cold light flashed within the depths of its pupils as it limped forward its eyes dead set on Ji Yao. It was a creature that held grudges and wouldn't be settled unless it tore that man's flesh and ate him. The closer it got to its target the greater its hatred grew.

It couldn't wait to tear him limb from limb. Reaching the limit of its patience it charged forward but as it reached Ji Yao its body was suddenly struck by a force so powerful its body was swept five kilometres away. A majestic Nocru stood tall as it roared like a king forcing everyone who heard it to tremble in fear.

Huishe Yue who had basically cleared most of the creatures halted his steps as he looked in the direction where the roar came from.. Without warning, he started to run before transforming into his true form midway.
