Voyage With The Pirate King

Chapter 335 - Rui Fei's Jenga Strategy

But because it feared what this strange boy with hair that flowed down like mercury would do to that eye it gathered all its strength and swiftly changed into a black fog to make its escape.

Rui Fei wasn't at all surprised, in fact, he expected it. It's just that he enjoyed the feeling of giving this creature hope.

Imagine a deer being chased through the forest suddenly getting the feeling that it had escaped from the clutches of death only to be delivered a final blow out of nowhere. It was the sheer disappointment and agony that stems from it that intrigued him. This is why he couldn't help himself but toy with his prey.

The creature that thought it had escaped death continued to flee but before it got far it was suddenly grasped by a dark power and ruthlessly slammed to the ground reverting to its true form.

Its body was like that of a human arching their back and head as when performing a reverse plank and bridge exercise but in its case it was permanent. Its chest was wide open unfolding what should have been internal organs into something unsightly. It also had a scorched tail from an earlier confrontation.

Rui Fei already knew this was the doing of his sweetheart. It was after all Ji Yao's trademark. He could torture this beast to lead him to his love but he knew he had to find the culprit instead. Once he got rid of that chess piece the entire thing will come crashing down like in Jenga.

He slowly got up from his crouching position and steadily strode forward while nonchalantly releasing his seraphic energy. The still air suddenly felt suffocating decimating the already decaying trees around him to dust.

The creature struggled to get up flailing its limbs all over the place as it let out a high pitched shriek. Because its head was pressed down to the ground with a powerful force holding it by the neck it couldn't get up.

The closer Rui Fei got the greater the struggle it put up. Irritated by its movements Rui Fei clenched his fist and the limbs that were flailing around were subdued by something unseen. Rui Fei transformed some of his seraphic energy into three blades and directly shot them at the closed eyes.

Sensing the impending danger the eyes shot open with a crimson light before they were pierced through. The Aoyin creature on the other side of the forest suddenly bellowed to the point of causing a tremor in the thicket.

Hearing that unmistakable sound, the corner of Rui Fei's lips quirked up. His body radiated a bloodthirsty air as cold and as sharp as a blade as he watched that inky blood seep from the damaged eyes. Rui Fei unhurriedly moved his gaze to the other eye with its pupils quivering. His gaze was as chilly as a blade quenched in snow as he scrutinised that eye.

It was about obvious what he was going to do next. This time he sharpened his ears intending to listen carefully and locate the place where the cries of agony were originating from.

He crouched down wanting to do it with his own hand when the illusion suddenly shattered and a path was opened as though asking him to proceed.

The creature that had suffered such torturous pain didn't want to go through it again so it directly opened up a path for him. Besides, it strongly believed that it would be able to pay that brat back for its suffering.

Imagining itself tearing his flesh apart and gulfing him down while drinking his blood before crushing his aether for the keystone, it trembled in excitement.

Rui Fei didn't even look up as he kept staring at the eye with a wolfish grin plastered on his face. This outcome was even better than what he expected. It was better than dirtying his hands to look for the creature.

He slowly got up and the eye that had been stiffly watching him relaxed a little. A powerful force struck the neck of the creature instantly knocking it out. The light in the eye dim before it closed giving off the impression that the creature was dead.

This is what the Aoyin creature thought had happened when it suddenly couldn't see anything. This was indeed the most logical thing to do since Rui Fei wouldn't want his movements being watched. But to the Aoyin creature, it didn't matter because the path was one and it directly led to its lair.

Rui Fei picked up the passed out creature's limb and began to drag it down the path leaving behind a bloody trail. Meanwhile, Ji Yao who had been fighting hordes and hordes of creatures was in a half-kneeling position with his head hung low as he breathed heavily.

His once neatly coiffed hair was slightly dishevelled with a few out of place strands hanging with his lowered head. His robe had a few inconspicuous bloodstains that others would have to look closely to see but he could feel it.

His lips twitched in disgust but he was forced to keep this feeling at bay otherwise it would affect his performance. His clenched fist slammed the ground before getting up. In front of him was a small hill of corpses piled up from the confrontation. The stench of death stung his nose but his expression remained unchanged.

Another wave of creatures was charging towards him from all directions. Ji Yao closed his eyes and stirred up the two powerful sources of energy in his aether while temporarily sealing his aetherial veins.

This created the perfect condition for two powerful forces to build up inside his body like a nuclear reactor on the verge of an explosion. The creatures leapt out from all directions towards his body but before they could reach him they were caught up in the explosion zone.

Waves of heat and lightning surrounded his body and before the creatures could retreat Ji Yao suddenly opened his eyes shining with an immiscible blend of two colours creating a marble effect. From his body, a staggering force exploded forth scorching the creatures into piles of ashes.

The force of the blast extended as far as a kilometre radius decimating anything within that range. But even so, the battle wasn't anywhere near a finish. A group of creatures charged towards him hoping to be the ones to finish off the job. Anticipating that he would eventually get tired out they persisted on with their constant assault.

But unfortunately for them, Ji Yao didn't have any intentions of backing down. He hadn't had this much workout in a while and hence treated it like so. For the safety of his love and his crew, he gave everything he got.. It was like watching the rebirth of the legendary pirate king.
