Chapter 211 - Did Wan Wan Miss Daddy?

Below deck behind a door at the corner of the passageway two people who had been lazing around all day were purposefully ignoring the situation happening upstairs.

They heard the tremors from earlier but remained unmoved with Rui Yewan creating a shield for them to relieve the discomfort of being pushed around. They knew something major was going down but it didn't seem to affect them as they had already been through so much to care.

Rui Yewan lay on the hammock while leisurely tossing a black marble up the roof of the cabin before catching it as it came back down. This weird game kept him entertained as they rode out the storm. On the other hand, Rui Li was sitting on the only table in the room working on her masterpiece sticking her tongue out on the side.

Wearing a thoughtful expression she looked up with the handle of the brush touching her lips like a student writing a serious exam. As though unable to answer the question she turned to Rui Yewan and asked, "Wan Wan, how long do you think Dage will be gone this time? Each time he fights with saozi he abandons us and runs off to cool down."

Rui Yewan sighed as he tossed the marble in the air again. "Who knows? I just wish he could warn us next time he picks a fight with him so we can pack our bags as wel-...," replied Rui Yewan but before he could finish his sentence he heard a loud screech coming from behind the door.

"AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!" was the deep-voiced scream that faded over time. It seemed the person had taken the stairs to a lower deck.

Because he was distracted Rui Yewan failed to catch the marble in time resulting in it falling on his forehead. "Ai...," he muttered rubbing his forehead as he sat up straight staring at the door.

As the man's frightful screams faded Rui Yewan took one foot out of the hammock intending to get up and see what was going on. But his movements paused feeling something was off. Thinking it was just himself he turned to look at his sister but her face was sickly pale.

If you looked closely you could see her body was shivering slightly in fear. This was the familiar fear they felt in that dungeon all those years whenever they heard the huge iron gates open.

Fear of whether one of them was going to get dragged out kicking and screaming.

Fear of getting beaten up by guards venting their anger after being punished by Prince Rui for the tiniest mistakes. That very fear they hadn't felt for two years had come back to haunt them.

Paralyzed in fright Rui Li who always seemed strong in the eyes of others broke down in despair as she called out to Rui Yewan in a whisper, "Dage..... I am scared."

Rui Yewan was also terrified and his big brother wasn't here to save them again. He felt so hopeless as he reached over to his sister and embraced her. Hiding at a corner furthest from the door, the two children huddled together comforting each other.

In their eyes, the elegant beauty that is Red Bane was gone replaced by that terrible place that imprisoned them for most of their lives. The wooden door was now thick latrion bars. The furnishing of the cabin had vanished replaced by small wet patches of straw on the ground and their hands and feet were bound by thick heavy latrion chains.

Everything in here was so real and no one could save them. They were in this endless nightmare with no hope in sight. A loud creak from a rusty gate being opened made them flinch. Rui Li couldn't take it anymore. She buried her face in his chest as she stained his robe with her tears.

Rui Yewan's heart was broken seeing her like this but what could he do? He could only rub her shoulder in comfort vowing to protect her. He wouldn't let anything happen to her.

A strong breeze blew by battering the tiny flames from the candles as the door was closed harshly. Soon the sounds of heavy boots clattering echoed in the empty space. With each step, Rui Yewan's heart sank as he embrace Rui Li tighter. His fear overtook him but his courage to protect his sister was also growing.

A familiar figure adorned in black appeared before him with a guard opening the door. Beads of cold sweat laced Rui Yewan's forehead as he watched that sinister smile with red-rimmed eyes.

With a loud creak the iron bars opened and his father, the reason for his ceaseless nightmares walked over in slow steady steps like a predator that had cornered its prey.

Rui Yewan's chest tightened as he embraced his sister even tighter moving backwards. But there was nowhere else to hide. His back touched the moist cold wall and he felt his blood run cold.

His father pulled up his robe a little as he crouched down. Staring at them with devilish eyes he reached out to caress Rui Li's hair while saying, "Shh shh shh," sheeshing the silent whimpers coming from Rui Li. She was so frightened that she buried her face further in Rui Yewan's chest trying to get away from those filthy hands that were touching her.

Rui Yewan's fist clutched the straw on the ground as he swallowed his saliva in fear. He had promised he would protect his sister but right now his entire body was frozen in fright. When she hugged him even more trying to get away from their father he felt an inexplicable ache in his heart.

This couldn't do. He had to protect his sister no matter what. If he didn't fight back this man would continue to harass them. Soon the look of fear in his eyes disappeared replaced by a fighting spirit. If he dies, he dies but he would have kept his promise.

Prince Rui seemed to notice the subtle changes in Rui Yewan's body that he turned around to face him and asked, "Did Wan Wan miss daddy?"

'Wan Wan! What the actual fuck!' thought Rui Yewan realising something. This creature had made its first mistake. The name Wan Wan was something Rui Li started calling him a year ago after he lost a bet so how could his father possibly know that? Rui Li seemed to have also recognized this mistake as she slowly raised her head staring at this supposed fake Prince Rui.

Her expression also changed at this moment as the two siblings glared at their supposed father like he was a dead man walking. The eerie smile on Prince Rui's face sank with bountiful confusion in his eyes.

"What?" he said but that was the last thing he said as a fight broke out.. This creature had the unfortunate experience of encountering these siblings from hell.
