Chapter 207 - Rui Fei Doesn't Like Being Scolded

Rui Fei who hadn't expected to be reprimanded stood there with a stupefied expression plastered on his face. He was like a toddler who had just heard the word no for the first time. Yes, Ji Yao had reprimanded him before but this was the first time he had been reprimanded for someone else.

He clearly didn't take well to being scolded for Xiaoyu especially when she deliberately provoked him first. She was jealous and couldn't control herself now he was the one getting scolded for it. Seeming very much aggrieved Rui Fei did the unthinkable.

He simply turned around and left. Just like that he turned on his heels and left the cabin. One can only imagine the expression on Ji Yao's face after that. He couldn't believe it.

The brat just walked out the door without saying anything. All he did was tell him not to strangle anyone else on his ship and the kid got so angry he walked out on him.

Ji Yao's Adam's apple bobbed as he watched Rui Fei's disappearing figure. He must say he was very confused right now. Clenching his fist under the table he contemplated on whether to follow him or not.

But before he could decide on this Xiaoyu who had also been staring at Rui Fei with a dumbstruck look on her face came back to herself and called out Ji Yao's name.

It took calling him four times for Ji Yao to finally respond and when he turned to look at her, his expression was so dark it startled her. Feeling a little frightened she back up a step before saying, "Yao-ge, he..."

She was celebrating internally for this small victory but after seeing Ji Yao's face the words she wanted to say were swallowed back. It seemed this relationship wasn't built on solid ground and could be shaken with the right amount of force.

Feeling a little hopeful she reached over for the breakfast tray intending to serve him some food. Now that her love rival had stormed off throwing a temper tantrum like a toddler, she could take advantage of the situation.

Just as she reached for the bowl Ji Yao finally spoke, "I am not hungry," his voice stern as he lowered his head. This wasn't a lie at all. How could he be in the mood to eat when Rui Fei was upset with him?

Feeling a little awkward, Xiaoyu took back her hand while biting her lower lip with a face full of grievances. She nervously tugged at her collar further revealing the bruise and said, "Yao-ge.... can I have your healing elixir. Mine finished."

This was an obvious lie. She had purposefully refrained from applying the healing elixir so she could show Ji Yao what Rui Fei was exactly capable of. She could see how upset Ji Yao was about this and decided to remind him why his decision to reprimand Rui Fei was the right call. She couldn't afford him being soft-hearted right now.

Ji Yao reached over inside his storage space and placed a white porcelain bottle with a red cloth covering the narrow opening on the table. She sat down before him intending to apply the ointment right there. She didn't have to apply it here but how could she not take full advantage of this situation.

Adapting one of the strategies in the novels read by Rui Li she stretched out her soft neck before applying the elixir. Just as she was about to perform a seductive show for her male god, Ji Yao suddenly spoke interrupting her, "You can leave no need to bring back the elixir."

Xiaoyu's actions halted looking a little pitiful. Pursing her lips she closed the bottle her eyes stinging from yesterdays overwhelming emotions threatening to come out again. She wanted to get up and leave immediately but she had a lump in her chest that was suffocating her.

She felt like if she didn't say what she had to or ask what she had to ask she wouldn't be able to function properly.

Sitting in a kneeling posture she scratched the bottle lying on her dress with her thumb as she nervously bit her bottom lip. Just as she gathered some courage she was interrupted again.

This time Ji Yao asked, "What did you say to him that upset him? You slapped him and..."

Xiaoyu who hadn't expected to be asked such a question felt so sour she couldn't bear it. Sniffling with her head lowered she said, "Yao-ge,... I, I like you and you know that. So I told him that then he strangled me and threatened to kill me," in a low voice that made it difficult for one to make out what she was saying but Ji Yao heard her clearly.

He raised his head and looked straight into her eyes before repeating the same thing he had said before. He didn't like repeating himself but it seems the only way she could understand him was if he said it again.

"Like I said before I don't like you in that way and I won't change my mind," he said trying to be considerate of her fragility right now. He had told her before when his father was pushing Xiaoyu towards him.

Unfortunately, she wasn't accepting of that answer and said to him, "I won't give up trying." And today she said the very same answer except this time she was on the brink of tears.

As soon as she said this she got up and left leaving behind a steaming bowl of congee.

For the next couple of days, there was a grey cloud looming over Red Bane. Its captain had charted a course before locking himself in his cabin leaving Xunshi Zhe to navigate to this sinister part of the sea.

The rest of the fleet had no choice but to follow Red Bane. Ji Yao was a stubborn as Ji Wen and once he made his mind no one can stop him. Besides if they left Ji Yao to go by himself they will get into serious trouble if anything happens to him.

Everyone was well aware that Ji Yao was in a terrible mood but they were extremely grateful that he locked himself up. He didn't come out not even once stirring panic among the crew.

The only thing that stopped them from breaking down that door was the fact that they knew Ji Yao had everything he needed in that cabin be it food or water. This meant their captain wouldn't stage a hunger strike and starve himself to death.

Ji Yao had enough snacks to last him four days but he didn't have an appetite. He kept replaying the image of Rui Fei's disappearing figure walking past the threshold leaving him behind.

Whenever his mind wandered in that direction he felt an inexplicable heartache like he had been abandoned.. Of course, he knew he hadn't been actually abandoned but it sure felt like it.
