Undying Warlord

599 The Fourth Awakening

“…All humans have the same amount of active and passive abilities, usually, except the Apocalypse babies, who are considered…different…and stronger than the first generation of human Ascenders!”

Lara stopped speaking for a moment and she pointed at her son with a shaking head. Dilan had already noticed that Siegfried had removed his chest to show his Uncle what exactly his mother meant when she said that Apocalypse babies were different, yet, stronger than the first generation.

‘A crystal?…no…that’s his Essence crystal? But that shouldn’t be the case…’

In the center of Siegfried’s chest, one could see a small violet crystal that had the size of a baby’s fist. Fine vein-like threads spread out from the crystal, forming stigmata on Siegfried’s chest…a coiled dragon, shrouded in lightning currents.

p

“The Ancient Dragon’s Blessing granting you the Original ability to control lightning and thunder since birth?” Dilan asked when he finished his observation.

Siegfried put on his shirt and nodded his head, his expression showing that he was surprised about his Uncle’s conclusion. “That’s…correct…”

Even Lara and Marie were quite astonished that Dilan figured out Siegfried’s Origin ability and the Blessing he had received by looking at Siegfried for a few seconds.

However, that was more than enough for someone, who had been taught countless things in the last 10,000 years. He had studied very hard as well, so it was only obvious that he knew a bunch of things.

But he was surprised to see the blessing and origin ability right in front of him, on the chest of his nephew at that.

“Is it normal for Apocalypse babies to have similar Origin Elemental Crystals and Stigmata, or is Siegfried one of the most extraordinary cases?” Dilan asked, just for nobody to answer for a while.

“From what we know, I am quite unique…but it’s not like we encountered many Apocalypse Babies. It was quite difficult to survive, let alone to make it through with all of us!” Siegfried answered solemnly, not an ounce proud about the powers he was born with.

“I guess Pierre and Sarah were quite fortunate then…” Dilan mumbled mostly to himself until he saw that everyone shook their head.

“Sarah and Pierre lost their first and third son, and Oliver and Ailee, whom you’ve talked with earlier lost two children as well…it was quite a harsh time…” Lara said, subconsciously grasping Siegfried’s hand.

Siegfried held his mother’s hand without letting it go while smiling gently. “You did a great job, mom!”

Dilan was not sure what was going on but he could tell that the stories about the last 27 years were bound to be a little bit more troublesome than expected.

“So what happened after Siegfried was born. The Fourth Awakening started and….” Dilan started while Marie took a deep breath to continue.

“After Siegfried was born, Milarn changed drastically, several Gates burst open, literally, releasing countless monsters from being Tierless up to the fourth Tier. However, that was not everything that was released through the Gates that burst open. The Gates released the isolated land masses they harbored for a long time.

The lands in which the monster lived before emerged on Milarn, where they merged, whether it was through force, or by magically disappearing and merging with the underground of the planet.

Apparently, that was something normal during the Fourth Awakening, a means to strengthen the planet and to enlarge the entire planet to the perfect size. I don’t know if you know the logic behind this, but the planetary core of Milarn seems to be of a special type. It was able to maintain and supply a planet several times much larger than Milarn…thus it simply grew in size with the energy and land mass it was given through the Gates and the vast number of beings who emerged on Milarn.

Every foreign being, no matter if they were monsters or of an intelligent race, had to pay a huge tribute to Milarn to be given permission to emerge on the planet. Only natives were not requested to pay tributes…either way…Milarn used the land masses and tributes it was given to strengthen its planetary core and fill it to the brim as quickly as possible.

Simultaneously, the environment was growing stronger and larger…much larger. The tectonic plates shifted, numerous natural disasters occurred, and they didn’t stop for several years.

However, we would have been happy if these natural disasters had been our only problem if they were the only thing we would have to worry about. This would have been great…but it was not the case, obviously…

Too many monsters emerged on Milarn, too many foreign races…and all of them with one goal in mind…to become stronger and to reign everything by themselves…”

Marie turned silent for a moment. She bit her lips, her eyes looked a little empty and it took several sighs before she was finally able to look at Dilan once again.

“It was terrifying…you couldn’t even move ten meters without encountering hundreds of monsters. Everywhere you looked were battles, bloodbaths, and corpses. There was not a single inch that looked the same as before. The environment was either destroyed, drenched in the blood of the fallen monsters and Ascenders, or it was replaced by Temples, and the Gate Lands… Nothing was the same as before…and our safety was in danger.

Half of the Undying Group died trying to protect the Sanctum and it was only a matter of time before we realized that it was impossible to stay above the surface.

We knew that we would have to hide from the masses of monsters and foreign races to make sure that all of us could survive…at least until the massive numbers of monsters and Ascenders would slim down.

However, what we didn’t know was that the first battles were just the start of the Great War of Blood…a war that worsened until it reached its climax three years later when the Alliances of Gods encountered each other….
