Undying Warlord

355 Gloomy Guy

The battle against the Vampires, which would soon happen in their own territory, might be enough reason for Dilan to be tensed up, but he was pretty sure that everything would be alright.

He would love to advance to Level 25, or precisely to become a Tier-2 existence before but he doubted that it would be possible.

It was a bit annoying that he didn’t have the chance to advance to Tier-2 in a day or two. He required too much Essence, after all, but he was still somewhat fine.

His strength was not an issue for the upcoming battles and he knew this as well as everyone else.

Dilan reached a place that smelled like dung soon. His nose twitched and his face scrunched as continued to go ahead in the area, where several monsters were being trained.

They were still outside the building, precisely cut off from everyone else because the newly tamed monsters were still uncomfortable being surrounded by so many humans.

Despite having been tamed, the monsters desired to devour the humans, which was something that could hardly be solved.

Dilan had heard about quite a few issues most common tamers faced when taming a beast. Either the tamer’s willpower was strong enough to overthrow the mental resistance of their tamed beast completely, or they would fail to tame the beast because their willpower was not strong enough to emerge victorious against the wild instincts of the monster.

There were a few other cases but the two mentioned above were the most common. Dilan didn’t want either of the cases to be necessary for the six infant lizards to not just survive but thrive.

Thus, he approached the tamer, whose first impression was quite favorable.

“What’s your name?” Dilan asked a gloomy-looking and extremely skinny teenager as he walked toward him.

The skinny teenager was perplexed when he looked up at the greek-godlike body of Dilan, which caused him to swallow his saliva. He was intimidated and momentarily forgot how to speak until he saw the infant lizard in Dilan’s arm.

The teenager jumped up from his chair with glistening eyes and he was about to reach out for the lizard cub when Dilan blocked the teenager’s advance.

“One step after another, boy,” Dilan said calmly, thinking that he had made the right choice. The skinny teenager might look gloomy when looking at others but Dilan saw the spark of interest in his eyes whenever his gaze fell on the monsters around him.

A horned rat sat on top of the skinny teenager’s head, playing with his silky black hair. Dilan saw that it was joyfully tugging at his hair, which was another reason for him to approach the young man.

“M-My name is Jarek, Sir…I mean Boss…or Sir?” The young man stuttered and tried to please Dilan as much as possible. However, he was too nervous, which was why he ended up failing his introduction miserably.

“Just call me Dilan, and don’t be so nervous,” Dilan gave him an encouraging smile.

“Jarek, I have a favor to ask. Can you help me out with something?” He asked bluntly, without beating around the bush after Jarek nodded his head vigorously. The horned rat almost fell from the gloomy teenager’s head when he nodded but it could barely hold onto a bunch of strands of his hair.

“I want you to raise these six long-legged infant lizards. They should be able to fight a little bit but I want them to obey everyone. At best, they should be like horses meant to travel around with. Can you do that?” Dilan looked deep into Jarek’s eyes when he asked him if he could do it to see the gloomy teenagers’ reaction.

At first, Jarek’s eyes gleamed brightly and he was about to shout out in joy, when he sensed something in Dilan’s voice that made him halt in his tracks.

“Sir-…I mean D-Dilan…you don’t want me to tame them with my ability…but to raise them? I mean… I have a [Monster Train] ability but it works much better when that monster is actually tamed by someone…” Jarek was careful. He didn’t want to make promises that he couldn’t keep.

Dilan noticed this, and it reaffirmed that he had definitely made the right choice by picking Jarek.

“In fact, I hope that I will find some other lizards soon so that we can breed them. Monsters grow much faster than ordinary animals thanks to Milarn’s mana influx and I wanted to make use of that to create a small army of mounts in a rather short period,” Dilan spoke in all honesty, revealing his plan before he added,

“And that being said, I don’t want anyone to tame them. Everyone should be able to use and control the long-legged lizards, not just their tamer!”

Dilan knew that there was a high chance that it would take quite a while before the lizards would procreate but that was fine with him. Six mounts were already better than none, and as long as they were nourished enough, they would easily be able to advance to Tier-1, Tier-2, and so on.

Jarek nodded his head, roughly understanding what Dilan was actually planning to do.

The long-legged lizard infants had roughly the same build as horses. This turned them into the perfect mounts, whether it was for war purposes, scouting, traveling around, or other similar tasks.

Of course, it would be better to use a taming ability on them to control the monsters much more easily, but Jarek had to acknowledge that Dilan’s concerns were valid.

The further the master of a tamed monster was, the more rebellious they would become. This was not something Dilan wanted to happen with the plan he had in mind, which was why Jarek nodded his head again.

“I can help you…but I cannot promise anything…if that’s not rude…” Jarek didn’t want to take the whole responsibility for the possibility that something might go wrong in his efforts. It was a big responsibility to shoulder, and it was not necessary either.

Dilan smiled lightly at the young man before he patted his shoulders encouragingly. He handed over his backpack and the squirming long-legged lizard infant that had been resting on his arm while he discussed his plans with Jarek.

Unfortunately, that was not for long because they were interrupted quite quickly.

“Dilan!!” Victoria appeared behind him all of a sudden. She glared daggers at him, and it was obvious that she was agitated about something.

Thus, Dilan smiled in Jarek’s direction before he left him with the six long-legged lizard infants. The skinny and gloomy-looking teenager would take care of everything, Dilan was sure of that!

He left the group of tamers and approached Victoria, whose presence caused all the tamed monsters to feel immense fear.

“What’s wrong?” Dilan asked while pulling Victoria further away from them.

“Do you even know what will happen when we join our forces with the Werewolves?!” She asked the instant Dilan finished his question and he nodded his head.

“We will probably kill all the Vampires who obstruct our path, and they will probably dislike you. But don’t worry too much, I can handle the latter!” Dilan didn’t really sound concerned.

He was confident of his plans, which caused Victoria to bite her lower lip hard until it almost began to bleed.

“The Werewolves will attack the Vampires the moment they make the first move…and I mean ALL Vampires!”
