Thrown Into A New World: Let The Punishment Begin!

Chapter 723 - Teach Me

Lifting her head, the little girl's amethyst eyes came in contact with the man who had approached her while she was lost in her thoughts.

Due to Yvonne's lack of attention, Captain Desmo Reel had no trouble sneaking next to her and even whispering his query into her ear.

What surprised him the most was the immediate answer he received as he had not expected the name of another one of his pupils to come out of her mouth.

He desired to know the cause of her absent-minded behavior and thus raised his brows when he heard that Topher Tanner was the reason why she had not even noticed his arrival just earlier.

Even Jax and Demon were taken by surprise to hear this but considering what had taken place yesterday, they could understand why she had said so.

However, Captain Desmo had no clue about the Tanner siblings' day at the St. Claire mansion and was intrigued to find out what had led this young child's mind to flutter in Topher's direction.

'Do children start gaining interest in the opposite gender at such a tender age?' He wondered if this was the reason why his pupil was lost in thoughts circling Topher Tanner.

Sadly, he could not have been any more off the mark as that was exactly what Yvonne was trying to prevent.

The word of advice she had given to the heir of the Tanner family yesterday was to warn him about a certain incident that would take place in his future.

That incident would mark the beginning of his tender feelings for 'Yvonne' which was something she wished to avoid at all costs.

Therefore, when he had asked for proof about the hunches she claimed to have about certain matters, she had used that opportunity to help Topher to avoid the incident.

If he never got injured in the bar fight then he wouldn't be laying in bed for months and also not need people to look after him.

'Though many things are different from the events that took place in the dream.' She reminded herself that his family was still together and even if he were to get injured, they could care for him.

However, she still warned him about it as she chose to be cautious.

That incident had caused Topher to develop feelings of adoration and later unrequited love for Yvonne in her dreams, something which she wished to avoid at all costs.

Therefore, she had done whatever she had for the sake of striking out any possibilities of that event taking place in any way or form.

She wished to stay away from any complications as her life was already beginning to get troublesome with what the King and his ministers were up to.

'And I do not want any more people looking over my shoulder right now.' She grimaced, hoping that things would work out in her favor.

These were the thoughts that had been swirling around in her mind when her trainer had popped up next to her and in her daze, she had revealed the truth to him.

Now as she gazed at the man who was waiting for her answer, Yvonne appeared to be tongue-tied.

'If he lets this slip before Papa…' She gulped as her father already seemed to have a negative impression of Topher.

Hearing that the young boy was now on her mind as well might cause more unnecessary animosity.

Therefore, Yvonne needed to handle this matter with care, so that she could save herself from the trouble that might land on her head if her father were to hear of this incident from the Captain.

"Can you teach me how to maintain my manifested aura?" She questioned something else that had been on her mind.

Captain Desmo had been waiting to hear what she had to say for herself but to hear this unrelated inquiry made him raise his brow at her.

Everyone who had formed a bond with an etcher was capable of manifesting their aura.

It only depended on whether they were willing to work hard towards it or just stay at their current capacity and not strive for more.

Until now, he had not taught her about any such techniques nor had he explained what manifestation of aura was.

This made him curious to know where she had learned about it and even wondered if she could manifest her aura though she had an etcher.

After all, she was the first girl he had seen who had succeeded in gaining an etcher but would she be able to achieve the same feats as the other boys her age?

This doubt was so clear on his face that even the little girl had an idea of what was going through his mind right at this instant.

Letting out a soft scoff, she looked up at him then proceeded to explain the events that had taken place the previous day.

Captain Desmo had been confused why she had suddenly asked that question so he paid attention to what she was saying and thus was able to grasp why she had brought it up.

The man's earlier doubt was clear and was replaced with awe for the achievements she had made during the year they weren't able to meet.

Ignorant to his astonishment, Yvonne also revealed that the Earl had been the one who looked over their training when they were confined in their field during the plague.

This made him nod as he could not think of anyone better to fill in for him as her trainer.

However, when he heard that Rutherford had asked her to stop manifesting her aura almost immediately, he realized why the Earl wasn't fit for this role.

Earl Rutherford St. Claire became soft-hearted whenever it came to his daughter so there was no way that he would be able to push her beyond her limitations as he did not wish to see her struggle.

Thinking of his scary friend who became a fool while dealing with his child, Desmo scoffed before shaking his head, glad that he had taken up this role instead.

The little girl did not know what he was thinking about so she continued revealing everything that had taken place yesterday.

'So that is why she was thinking about Topher?' He nodded his head, concluding that she was reminiscing about her sparring match with him.

Once Yvonne's narration had come to an end she looked up at him with hopeful eyes after noticing his nodding head.

"Does that mean you will start training me?" She probed further and blinked her wide eyes at him.

The gesture she often used to get her way before her father was now being utilized on the Captain but sadly it had no effect on him.

"That shall depend on how you fare in the coming days." He replied with a neutral stance, neither accepting her request nor did he reject her in an outright manner.

If she could complete the training modules he would soon prepare specially for her after keeping her size and her stamina in mind, then he would surely proceed with teaching her how to maintain her manifested aura.

However, on the off chance that she is unable to keep up with the pace of this module, she would have to wait for longer before even thinking of trying to manifest her aura.

"Let us focus on your endurance for today." He disclosed what they would be doing in today's class.

Yvonne knew better than to rush him so she nodded her head, accepting his orders, and prepared herself to run laps around the training field like she always did.

Captain Desmo was pleased with her behavior but wasn't too surprised as she had always been someone who followed orders even when he was being tough on her.

This was one of the best qualities she possessed, making him want to help her improve further so that she might reach the goals she had made for herself.

The man then stood with Jax and the two etchers as they watched the child running around the training ground.

The Captain was also keeping a close watch over her condition as he now needed to gauge her skills which would allow him to create a special training module based on her current abilities and which catered to her needs once he returned home.

Thus, right now, the little girl was under strict observation of her trainer who was making a mental note of everything he was witnessing during their class today.
