Thrown Into A New World: Let The Punishment Begin!

Chapter 497 - His Friend's Contradictory Behavior

Inside the carriage heading towards the Royal Academy,

"Who was that other servant?" A languid voice arose, breaking the earlier serenity of the carriage.

Topher looked up from the book that he had been reading only to find his best friend rubbing his chin while mumbling to himself.

"Hmm?" He tried to gain his attention and succeeded as now, Damien's forest-green eyes were fixed on the boy seated opposite him.

The two older boys were in one carriage while the younger ones were seated in the other.

Therefore, Damien did not hesitate to voice out his doubts about what he had seen today.

"The servant beside the Butler… Who was he?" He repeated his query after which he waited for an answer.

It took Topher a couple of seconds to realize what his friend was inquiring about and he was ready to answer him.

"That…" Topher drawled out, enjoying the look of impatience taking over Damien's face.

However, Damien did not give him the satisfaction that his words were annoying him, instead, he sat in absolute silence even when his brows furrowed close together.

'I better answer before he freezes me to death with that glare.' The heir of the Tanner family made a wise decision and revealed the identity of the new person that Damien was inquiring about.

"That was Miss Yvonne's new Butler." He disclosed the information that he had heard from his little brother.

Three months ago, when Taylor had gone to visit the St. Claires after they returned to Amarthea, he had come back late and even thrown a fit.

The elder brother was sure that he was the source of the turmoil his younger brother was undergoing right at this moment in his bedroom.

After all, Topher had found his etcher while training in their fief but Taylor had not yet done so.

He knew that his younger brother had been concealing his irritation and now it had finally surfaced and revealed itself.

Thus, Topher hurried to his brother's room to gloat and rub it in his face.

'Who wouldn't be jealous and angry?' He sneered in victory as the one thing that he loved the most in this world was to annoy his little brother.

Topher was eager to witness the tantrum that Taylor was throwing on his account; however, what he heard after entering that room was something he had not expected.

"That's how I heard that Miss Yvonne now has a Butler by her side at all times." He sulked while retelling what he had seen after entering the room.

Taylor was sulking and throwing a fit but it was not related to him nor was it about his new etcher, Rouge.

The source of Taylor's annoyance was the young boy whom he had met for the first time on that day.

The boy's identity as Yvonne's butler and his duty to remain by her side all day was the root of his jealousy which Topher had least expected.

Thus, Topher's desire to watch his little brother burn with jealousy and then speak a few mean words to annoy him further was dashed away after this revelation.

Sighing after narrating this incident, the young master of the Tanner family, glanced at his friend who seemed too interested in the matters of the daughter of the St. Claire family.

The last time that he had seen Damien displaying similar curiosity towards the little girl was on his birthday.

The two had disappeared for a brief period of time and reappeared from the balcony.

At first, no matter how much he pestered Damien to reveal the topic of their secret conversation, he received no answer.

Only when Topher used underhanded methods by blackmailing him about certain matters was he able to hear bits and pieces of the conversation that took place between them on that day.

While he was surprised that his friend had made an effort to converse with her regarding matters that had nothing to do with him, he was still supportive of this.

Someone was targeting a little girl and it was his duty as a gentleman to try and protect her.

For this reason, Topher was extremely proud of his best friend who had finally displayed traits of a concerned human being.

Though even that fell to the ground when he heard about how Damien had told Yvonne not to do anything stupid just before she left the balcony.

'He went and shot an arrow in his foot.' He shook his head while recalling that incident.

Today, once again, Damien was displaying curiosity about the same girl which was beginning to pique his interest as well.

While Topher was grinning about the possible reasons for Damien's interest in Yvonne, the other boy was lost in his thoughts.

'So that is the Butler?' He rubbed his chin, deep in contemplation.

Damien had noticed how the young boy standing next to Butler Limo was constantly keeping an eye on the girl before him.

This had garnered his suspicions but now that everything had an explanation, he did not think that it was something that needed his attention.

Thus, reverting to his languid appearance, he shrugged before looking out of the window.

This left Topher stunned at his friend's contradictory behavior.

'One second he's curious and in the other second, he couldn't care less.' He sighed but chose to continue reading the book in his hands.

As the trees passed by, Damien's mind went back to the boy who stood behind Yvonne, watching her every move.

The murky green hair of the boy whom he now knew was her butler matched those of the trees that flitted by.

This reminder made him scoff as he looked away from the window.

'Can't she just have a maid like everybody else?' He sneered at her before closing his eyes.

Damien's shut eyes once again conjured the beautiful face of the young boy which was enough to attract attention from all the young girls their age.

This thought irked him so he reopened his eyes and looked out of the window.

'She must have chosen him because of that pretty face of his!' He declared that he was right and once again, harrumphed while gazing at the scenery outside.

Topher's reading time was being disturbed due to the constant movement coming from the other side so he shot his friend a glare.

'Why is he being so fidgety today?' He narrowed his eyes at the other boy but to no avail as Damien was busy watching the view outside to pay attention to him.

Back at the Office in the St. Claire Mansion,

'A whole hour!' Yvonne growled in her heart when she saw her father entering the room after asking her to wait for him here.

It had been an hour since she last saw him carrying Raylene away and only now did he bother to make an appearance in his office where his child awaited his arrival.

"What is it that you wished to talk to me about?" Rutherford inquired, pretending as though nothing was wrong.

According to the father, there was no way that his Vonna would know about what had taken place inside his bedroom which he shared with his wife.

Therefore, he had no qualms in putting on a calm face while greeting her.

'Might have taken longer if Ray had not kicked me outside.' He sulked as his considerate wife would not allow him to continue any further after knowing that their daughter was waiting for him.

Thus, he had to wash up and rush over after the very first round which wasn't enough to satisfy him in the least bit.

Sadly for the father, his daughter was someone whose soul was already twenty-eight years old in her previous world.

'Looks like he wants to rush back at any minute now.' Yvonne sighed after taking note of her father's sulking face.

Therefore, to help him out, this time the daughter decided to be considerate.

"Papa, this will only take a few minutes." She assured him and went straight to the point which she had wished to make.

Rutherford could not grasp why his child had said so but he was happy nonetheless.

With this thought in mind, the father and daughter had a short yet precise conversation regarding the matters that Yvonne wished to bring to his attention before she bid him goodbye and exited the office.

'This couple is too energetic.' She sighed like an elderly grandmother as she stepped in the direction of her bedroom.

As Rutherford remained in the office to mull over what she had brought to his notice, he forgot that he had been eager to rush back to his bedroom and spend more time with his wife.

Thus, even without her knowledge, Yvonne had just blocked her father's path to happiness, at least for this evening.
