Thrown Into A New World: Let The Punishment Begin!

Chapter 270 - Am I So Special?

"You found your etcher before awakening so I did not feel the need to explain this any further." Captain revealed his thoughts about when he had first seen her with Demon.

What was the purpose of explaining something to her when she had already managed to achieve the goal before she even made a conscious effort?

Hence, he had decided against talking to her about awakening.

'So my awakening was just a bonus without holding its actual meaning, which is to get an etcher?' The little girl speculated what was different about her.

At this thought, Yvonne looked at her trainer and blinked her eyes in astonishment.

'Am I so special?' She wondered as the smug expression was once again making an appearance on her face.

She would never deny that she loved herself, some might even consider her a narcissistic person but she would only have one retort for that allegation.

'If loving myself and appreciating what I am is considered as being narcissistic then I do not mind that label.' This was her response when someone had mocked her in her last life.

She would not hesitate to use the same answer now in this world as well.

The fact that she had gained her Demon even without awakening gave her the eligibility to be proud of herself.

Thus, she did not hide the complacent look on her face which was what she truly felt at this moment.

"Why do you think that she gained an etcher and even awakened when there was never a girl who had done so?" Damien interrupted the 'I love myself' session that Yvonne was taking part in at this moment.

This question was aimed at the men who had more experience and hence were more knowledgeable in this regard.

Though she was disturbed by his rude question, the little girl was also curious as to why she was given these opportunities while none of the other girls had this blessing.

Captain Reel, Marquess Samed, and Earl St. Claire had similar expressions of ignorance at the doubt placed before them by this junior.

"Excellent question, my boy!" Sullivan praised him because in his eyes Damien was the one true good child in comparison to his nephews.

Yvonne rolled her eyes at the tutor but did not interrupt as she too needed to know the answer to Damien's question.

What made her different?

Why was she able to awaken and even find her etcher? And she had managed to do so not even in the correct order.

The three men shared a look and shook their heads in response.

This was what they had discussed before they were called over for lunch.

They needed to find an appropriate answer for why the little girl was being favored by the gods but even after spending a long time, putting their resources together, they could find none.

'What makes her different is a mystery to us as much as it is to her…' Rutherford sighed as he thought of the fruitless effort they had made in the Parlor earlier.

"Just treat this as the gods being kind and bestowing you with these graces." Marquess Samed suggested as he smiled at the little girl.

Who were they to question the plans that the gods had for them?

All they could do was be grateful for the mercies they received and to be satisfied with the joys given to them.

'Gods are being kind!?' The little girl sneered at the tutor who was talking nonsense at this moment.

If the Gods, specifically one of them, was so kind then he would never have thrown her into this world.

He had uprooted her life in her old world and had tossed her here to make her suffer.

'Didn't he throw me here as punishment for criticizing his work?' She recalled and refused to accept that this was a kindness granted to her by the same god.

As Yvonne's head was lowered, no one had noticed the disgruntled expression on her face.

Thus, they assumed that she had accepted the answer she received and went back to their conversation.

'We still need to talk to her about what had taken place during the first trial.' The father recalled and glimpsed at the other men.

The three men glanced at her silent demeanor while they spoke about various matters concerning their society and noblemen.

Marquess Samed, the gossip lover began narrating how a noble from the Baron's family was rumored to have a lover outside his estate.

While Raylene widened her eyes at this shocking revelation as she was acquainted with the Baroness who was scorned, Rutherford was glaring at the Marquess.

"This is not something we should discuss." He rebuked the gossiping man.

'What are you talking about when the children are present!' His inner thoughts were not visible on his face.

However, the Marquess was able to discern where he had gone wrong and let out a sheepish chuckle while shifting the direction of the conversation to something else.

The warm and soothing tea was soon finished and the banquet had officially come to an end.

Howard was the one who was most excited as he rose from his seat and ran over to his idol, Topher Tanner's seat.

"Big Brother Topher, would you like to see training equipment that Father bought for me?" He inquired with excitement pouring out of each word.

Topher chuckled at the little boy who looked like he would be disheartened to hear a negative reply so he nodded his head to accept the proposal.

'He looks like a puppy given a treat by his master.' Yvonne rolled her eyes at her elder brother.

As Topher rose from his seat, it was obvious that his best friend Damien would also accompany him.

Turning to her side, she saw the bright smile of the boy sitting next to her.

'Do you plan on staring at me all afternoon?' She tilted her head and shot him a questioning glance.

Taylor, however, was at this moment, fanboying over the round cheeks of the little girl as her wide amethyst eyes blinked at him.

'Why can't she be my little sister!? I would pamper her to no end!' He lamented that he only had a bully of an older brother instead of this cute little sister.

"You too!" A loud scowl dragged him out of his greedy daydreaming.

Yvonne and Taylor turned towards the source of the voice and found Howard glowering at his friend at whom his sentence was aimed.

The younger son of the Duke was aware of Howard's evil intentions of separating the two pseudo-siblings.

"Why don't you join us as well, Vonny?" He extended his invitation to her.

Yvonne almost choked on the water she had just taken a sip of when she heard his offer.

"I…" She stuttered while trying to find the right words to decline his kind offer.

'I do not think that I can take any more of you staring at me as one would do to an animal in a zoo.' She refused to endure this any longer.

Turning her eyes to her father, her strained smile fell into the view of the Earl.

'A little help here?' She requested while pouting in her attempt to melt his heart.
