Thrown Into A New World: Let The Punishment Begin!

Chapter 210 - Expecting Great Things From You

Baron MacIntyre failed to gain sympathy from King Ophire and decided that it was best that he did not prod this matter any further.

'Let us not do anything that might upset him.' He agreed on and stood still while glancing at the man sitting on the Throne.

The King, impressed with Earl St. Claire's knack for making business deals continued to read the agreement.

As he read along the lines written in the agreement, he came across another strange clause present in it.

Looking up, he fixed his blue eyes on the plump man who had brought the agreement over.

"The money from the profit is given to the child?" He inquired about what he had read in the paper held in his hand.

Baron MacIntyre gave the King a quick nod as this was the truth that had baffled him as well.

"The Earl admitted that he had written this clause for his daughter." He explained the vague knowledge he possessed.

"Do you know why?" King Ophire investigated further as his curiosity had been piqued.

However, his curious mind was not appeased with the negative answer he received from the Baron as he shook his head in reply.

Rutherford had kicked him out after this topic was revealed which meant that he was also unaware of the intricacies of the situation.

King Ophire did not make things difficult for him and decided to take a look into this matter by his own means.

He had completed the purpose of this meeting and had only mentioned the new dessert as he wished to hear about the girl from the Earl's family.

The information he had obtained from Baron MacIntyre was already useful and he could figure the rest out by using other means.

"Killian." He called out a name as he extended his hand which held the agreement.

Baron MacIntyre was wondering who it was that their King had called for when he saw the Royal Steward heading up the stairs.

Everyone was used to calling him Steward or Royal Steward, forgetting that he was also a man who had a name of his own.

Killian, the Royal Steward accepted the agreement from King Ophire's hand and stepped down with his head bowed.

He then handed it over to its rightful owner who stood at the foot of the stairs.

Nodding in gratitude, Baron MacIntyre received the agreement and turned his sights to the King.

"I am expecting great things from you and your baker, Baron." King Ophire spoke with a mild smile on his face.

However, the pressure of those words was weighing down on the Baron who now had to live up to the King's expectations.

This deal could either make or break his future as the owner of the cafe.

If the celebration was a success with the blissful addition of his treats then the advantages were endless.

He might receive orders from the Royals or other nobles who wish to follow the trends in the society.

His business might boom due to the tremendous increase in its popularity which would result in high income every day.

Though, it also had its disadvantages which he should be mindful of.

In the off-chance that the Royal Princess or His Majesty was disappointed in the treats served on that day, the future of his business would be in jeopardy.

One word from them would make him and his cafe a social outcast, destroying everything that he had ever worked hard for all his life.

'I must make sure that everyone likes my treats to keep my cafe in business.' He was determined to never let anything affect his source of income.

Their work here was done and the Royal Steward bowed to the King before turning towards the man who stood stuck in his thoughts.

"I will not let you down, Your Majesty!" Baron MacIntyre promised and bowed to pay obeisance to the Ruler of the land.

King Ophire smiled when he saw the vigor and enthusiasm with which he was given a promise.

"I look forward to it." He answered and waved his hand, allowing the man to rise.

Baron MacIntyre then followed the Royal Steward out of the Throne room now that their meeting had come to an official end.

King Ophire watched as the two men left the room and stretched in his seat as he was now alone with no one watching him.

The Shadow Knights were used to seeing the King's different attitudes when there were people watching him and when he was alone.

Hence they were not stunned to see the man flexing his neck muscles and twisting his waist around to relax his stiff body.

Within a few seconds, Killian the steward returned to the Throne room and found the King seated with his back stiff, seated in the same position as he had left him earlier.

"Time to meet the Royal Princess, My King." Killian reminded the lunch appointment that King Ophire had with his daughter.

'Finally!' The King rejoiced at this joyful news but the expressionless look on his face remained the same as before.

He rose from his seat and stepped down from the stairs to reach the Steward who waited for him.

As the King passed his servant by, he paused in his steps for a second and faced the other man.

The Royal Steward awaited the orders that His Majesty might have for him.

"Prepare a bowl of warm water for me to wash my hands before we sit down to eat." King Ophire commanded then began walking away.

The Steward was stunned for a second by this strange order but nodded anyway as he could not question the King about his decisions.

'I touched that man's sweat!' The reason for the strange order made King Ophire scowl in disgust as he strode in the direction of the next destination.

The Rose Palace was the venue for the King's lunch today and the atmosphere there was lively as everyone was rushing to make things ready for when the Ruler arrives.

Princess Felicia and her maid stood at the entrance of the Palace as they waited for the sight of the man who was their guest for the day.

The little girl standing next to the young maid in her early twenties was excited, not for her father's arrival but for the desserts that she might have after lunch.

'I won't have to hear about the desserts from Glenny as I will know what they taste like very soon.' She giggled when this thought came to her mind.

Her father had promised to let her have the dessert and she knew that he would never lie to her.

Hence, all she had to do was be patient enough until he arrives and they could eat them together.

The maid standing next to her smiled when she saw the jubilant smile on the Royal Princess' face.

Looking up, she noticed two familiar figures coming in their direction but they were still at a distance away from the Rose Palace.

"Princess, the King is near!" She whispered to inform the little girl of her father's appearance.

Just as she had expected, Princess Felicia was all set to rush out in order to greet her father midway however, the maid was swift in her actions as she blocked the girl's way.

"Please refrain from running, Princess. This might anger the King!" She requested and advised her against doing something to upset the King.

Princess Felicia pouted but her feet did not move as the maid's words were true and that was the last thing she should do at this moment.
