Thrown Into A New World: Let The Punishment Begin!

Chapter 174 - Incompetent And Lazy

Raylene put away the worry shrouding her mind when she saw the sweet smile on her daughter's face.

'Vonny looks alright.' She deduced and went back to finishing the piece of cake on her plate.

The maid who stood at the side rolled her eyes but did not bother trying to interfere as she had been taught a proper lesson the last time that she had tried to do something nice for her Mistress.

If her goodwill was not being appreciated and all she received in return was punishment, then Paula had deemed it better to stay silent for her own health's sake

On the other side of the cafe, Yvonne stared at the man who was nodding his head repeatedly in excitement.

The man next to him had a deep frown as he alternated his gaze between the man and the child.

The server had called the baker over because he had thought that the daughter of the Earl's family wished to reprimand the man for his incompetence.

However, when he heard her desire to help him out, the server could not help but frown.

'Is she trying to swindle us? But why? Isn't she the daughter of one of the wealthiest men in the Kingdom?' He scrutinized Yvonne's expressions with a grave look on his face.

He was one of the first people who had eaten the 'cupcake' made by his friend, the baker, and hence he was also aware of how unsalvageable it was.

The bland vanilla taste with no redeeming qualities had no chance of ever being better.

He had given up hope after being the test subject for the first few renditions that the baker had made.

Therefore when he heard that this little girl had a way to make it better, he couldn't trust her words even for a single second.

'One wants to believe with all his heart while the other is skeptical beyond belief.' The little girl was apt at reading their expressions and gauging what they felt at this moment.

Once a person gets obsessed with something, they would desire to gain perfection at all costs.

That was exactly what had happened to Mr. Baker.

He had been attempting to perfect the recipe yet every single time it came out bland and tasteless.

Yvonne had understood the sad and depressed look on his face which was making her roll her eyes.

'I blame this on that Blue Bird! Incompetent and lazy as ever!' She cursed the god who had created this world.

Back when Rika Kiron had spoken about the treat that was now placed on Yvonne's plate, the little girl had grasped what must have taken place.

Thus the blame for the tragedy she faced today fell on the shoulders of the one who had thrown her into this world.

If Asmodeus had done a proper job at world-building like most of the scripts that reached her table at Platina Entertainment then she wouldn't be facing this situation today.

'He wasted so many lines to describe a slice of apple pie but failed to write that a cupcake comes with icing on top?' She sneered at the devil-may-care attitude that he had used to write his story.

The lack of efforts put into anything other than the life of the lead characters had already pissed Yvonne off when she was reading the script back in her world and even now she was not impressed.

The solution to the Baker's problem was simple but due to the scriptwriter, Blue Bird's incompetence, the man had faced mockery at every turn.

The baker was waiting eagerly for the answer and was now apprehensive whether he was being tricked by the little girl.

'I have to sort the problems caused by that useless bird.' She rolled her eyes before turning towards the scrawny man.

"Cream." She uttered a single word.

The two men who were standing before her were confused by what she meant by saying that word.

Yvonne sighed when she saw the bewilderment apparent in their eyes and decided to elaborate further to help them understand.

"Do you have strawberry cream?" She reiterated her words.

This time, the baker had comprehended the meaning of her words and gave her a quick now.

'Then what are you looking at my face for!?' Yvonne growled in her heart when she saw him stand in the same spot and gawk at her with his head bobbing even after he had relayed his answer.

"Can you get it for me?" She requested, trying to not sound rude to the best of her abilities.

The Yvonne St. Claire who would once chase participants off the stage of 'The Dreamer' was now requesting people to complete the task given to them.

As she shook her head at the man who had scurried away to fetch the ingredient that she had asked for, the ones who remained continued to stare at her in an unblinking manner.

Yvonne turned her eyes towards each of them and gave them a simple smile before peeping in the direction that the baker had left in.

Glennise Brodie had been staring at her as she tried to understand what this little girl who was just a year younger was trying to do right now.

If she was in Yvonne's position then she would have most probably yelled at the baker and threatened to shut the place down for serving her this weird and tasteless dessert.

However, as it was not her who had faced this problem, she did not interfere and waste her time.

'If she wants to deal with this then it is her prerogative.' She shrugged all responsibility as the self-declared leader of their little group.

She had learned the meaning of the word 'prerogative' from her tutor and was happy that she had used it in a sentence the right way.

Her dreams and aspirations were simple, she wanted to be good enough to be accepted by her father and to be a good playmate to the Princess.

Other than these two targets, she did not care much for the remaining things in her life.

But soon she would realize that there was one more aspect of her life that she cared deeply about.

The Prince for whom she had tried to find the proper name of Yvonne's hair color would soon become that third part of her life that she cared about.

However, at present, even she was unaware of the corner in her heart that he had taken his place inside.

This small corner would soon blossom and take up the entire space in her heart, giving her both joys and pains as she moved ahead in her life.

Yvonne had no clue of the changes that were occurring in Glennise's heart and even if she did she would not have had anything to do with it.

As she had decided to stay far away from them, she would not wish to interfere in the flow of the main character's life at any possible cost.

The baker who had run away in a hurry was seen returning with a bowl in his hand.

The soft pink peaks which were visible for everyone to see was proof that he had come back with what Yvonne had asked for.

"Here, Miss." He announced as he placed the bowl on the table.
