Thrown Into A New World: Let The Punishment Begin!

Chapter 169 - One Last Look

Glennise Brodie watched the back of the little girl who was just a year younger than her, walking alongside her mother as they entered the cafe.

Rika was worried that her new friend had offended the Duke's only daughter and she was quick to try and do some damage control.

"Miss Brodie, Vonny must be hungry and that is why she left in such a hurry." She explained with an appeasing smile.

'Vonny? Are they so close to each other to use endearing names?' Glennise wondered as she glimpsed at her playmate.

She was not bothered that Yvonne had left them without waiting for their answer but was thinking of a whole different matter.

'Her hair does look black in the shade but looks a deep shade of violet when under the sun.' She recalled the difference in the colors of her hair and nodded.

She could still remember the inquiry which Pince Fritzen had made when Princess Felicia and she were discussing news about the only daughter of Earl St. Claire.

"What is the color of her hair?" He had asked out of nowhere and that had remained in her mind until today.

So when she had met Yvonne St. Claire by a stroke of good luck, the first thing she had done was to observe her hair color.

If Prince Fritzen wished to know what the color of that girl's hair was then she would let him know about it.

The young boy who was always caring and kind to his sister and these two girls who stayed with her deserved to get whatever he wished for.

With this thought in mind, Glennise glanced at the cafe that was before them and then at Rika Kiron.

"Shall we finish the work that we had come over for?" She inquired and received an eager and willing nod from her study partner.

Rika was glad that this benevolent daughter of the Duke had not taken offense to Yvonne's hasty retreat and then sighed in relief.

The two girls followed by the maids that were right behind them entered the store that they had come over to the Commercial district for.

'One last look.' Glennise decided as she entered the store that was on their itinerary.

___

Inside the cafe, Yvonne sighed as she stood before the shelves displaying the confectionary goodies that this store sold.

'Capitalism at its best!' She scoffed when she looked at the hiked up prices of each of the items on the shelves.

However, none of the nobles would ever complain about it as it would appear beneath their noble blood to haggle over the cost of a certain product.

To keep their dignity and pride as a noble they would never let anything affect them, especially if it was matters related to finances.

This was a boon for the businesses which could exploit their pride and extract money from these people who did not look at the cost twice as that would hurt their ego.

'I will make sure to use this to my advantage in the future.' She smirked and then glanced at her mother who was focusing on what to get for herself and her daughter.

She too turned her gaze towards the row of pastries that made her mouth water and gulped when she found the one that she desired to eat.

The customers had to choose which dessert they wished to eat and then take their seats. Soon a server would come over and take their order which would then be brought to their table.

This was how the cafe they were inside functioned and Yvonne had no problems with it.

'I am just grateful that I managed to rid myself from another sticky situation. Even if they ask me to stand on one foot and hop around to give my order, I wouldn't mind doing so!' She scoffed as she walked towards the table that Raylene had chosen.

Paula followed and stood at the side while her Mistress and Young Miss took their seat at the table.

The gratitude in Yvonne's heart that she had succeeded in getting away from the 'Villainess' that she was feeling at this moment was soon washed away.

This was thanks to the two little girls whom she had just escaped from who had now entered the same cafe as her.

'Can I not enjoy my desserts in peace!?' She growled as she grit her teeth in anger.

Here she was celebrating that she had managed to escape the strings of fate that were tying her together with the main characters and in the next moment, she was proved wrong by the entrance of these two little girls.

Rika Kiron smiled as she waved her hand at Yvonne who had to wave back even though she was reluctant to do so.

The two girls came over to the table that the women from the St. Claire family had seated upon and stood before them.

"We meet again, Miss St. Claire. Maybe this time we can get to know each other better." Glennise Brodie spoke as a smile sat upon her face.

Hearing the words coming from her mouth, Yvonne was clear about what she had meant.

'She's mocking me with the words that I just used!' She sneered at the girl who had a way with her words.

What else could be expected from the fierce Villainess from the script who would wreak havoc in the lives of the main leads with the other two side villainesses in tow?

However, her mother did not have the same thought as she had.

Raylene was overjoyed that her daughter had succeeded in making friends and hence she was willing to help her daughter to strengthen their bond further.

Therefore, she did what she thought was the right thing to do in this situation.

"Vonny, why don't you sit with your friends and spend some time with them? Mama will stay right here." She suggested while patting her head.

This made Yvonne speechless as she just stared at her mother who was literally pushing her into the lion's den when all she wanted to do was to escape from it.

'What are you trying to do, woman!?' She glowered in her heart but could say nothing out loud.

She could not believe that her mother whom she had called sensible when she was interacting with women from the other noble families could not grasp the fact that she did not wish to interact with these two.

Since Raylene had offered such a bright idea, Yvonne had no choice but to accept it.

If she were to reject this suggestion then the chances of offending this little girl from a higher family were exceptionally high.

'She was written as someone who holds grudges…' Yvonne recalled and decided that it would be best to not provoke her from a young age.

Having left with no other choices, she glanced at her mother one last time hoping that she would keep her back but her hopes were in vain as Raylene smiled at her encouraging her to sit with the other girls.

Watching her daughter move to the other table and take her seat with those two children made Raylene cheer for her baby girl.

'You can do it, Vonny! Make new friends!' She cheered like the proud Mama she was.

This was how Yvonne St. Claire failed in implementing her brilliant plan of 'Blending into the surroundings' and staying away from the Villainess who was still in the making.
