The Wife of Hades

Chapter 116 - Role Auditions

An Luxia entered the large room, where rows of seats were placed inside and groups of people were talking to each other.

Her high heels clicked against the cold marble ground as she walked past the group of people, who had quieted down as they looked at her.

One girl who was seated in the second row whispered to her manager, "Who is that? Is she here to audition too?"

The other girl frowned, "Who knows? She does look kind of familiar, but where have I seen her before. . . Is she an actress too? Why don't I recognize her?"

All of the girls who were here today began murmuring, many of them getting afraid because of how much An Luxia resembled the character An Xia inside the novel.

An Luxia glanced at the people and smiled before walking towards the closed door, pulling it open and walking in.

At once, all the girls began talking again.

"Who was that? Why did she walk into the audition room?! Is she going first?"

"Do you recognize her? Who was that?!"

"Don't you think she looks like An Xia? She fits the description in the novel so well."

An Luxia stepped into the cold room and bowed down slightly, walking towards the people seated at the long table towards the front of the room.

One by one, she shook their hands, "Good afternoon, Director Liu, Producer Qu."

Then, she finally sat down in the seat next to the director, looking at the folder with all the actors' information auditioning today inside.

"Since everyone is here, shall we get started?" The director asked, and then turned to his assistant, who went out to call the first auditionee.

The first person to come in was a girl who was auditioning for the role of An Xia. She was quite famous in the industry right now, especially since one of her dramas she acted in as a third female lead blew up.

However, she did not match An Xia's description, as she had a more pointy face and looked a little mean when she had a straight face.

"Let's do. . . scene 38," the director said, and the actress nodded before beginning right away.

"Han Mo, the movie is so scary!" At once, An Luxia's expression stiffened as she gulped, wondering how in the world this actress was even selected for the first round.

Her acting was not even dramatic, it was very dramatic. She pursed her lips out way too far and furrowed her eyebrows together, placing both hands on her hips as she spoke in a high-pitched voice.

Of course, the director also noticed this as he immediately called, "Cut! Cut! Cut!"

The director was famous in the industry and had no time for nonsense, "How did you even get selected?! Leave, leave."

The actress was very taken aback by the director's comments, and she gasped before running off, wiping away tears as she slammed the door shut.

The director sighed as he pinched the area between his eyebrows, "Next."

The next to come in was a young girl who seemed to look like a teenager, much too young to be An Xia. Her acting was better than the first but she did not match the character, so the producer passed her off.

One by one, girls stepped into the room and performed the scenes, most of them immediately rejected while some of them were put on hold.

After two hours of auditions, An Luxia yawned as she stretched her neck out, looking at the clock wondering when lunch would be.

The director noticed this and looked towards his assistant, "Let's take a thirty minute lunch break."

They all filed out of the room and announced this to the auditionees before going to eat lunch themselves. An Luxia ate with the director and producer and they talked about the book, the auditionees, and more as they quickly ate.

"Director Liu, are all the people auditioning today for An Xia?"

The director nodded, "Yes. The role for Han Mo has already been set so the auditions will be for An Xia and the other characters."

An Luxia's eyes widened, "It was set already? Who is it?"

"You don't know? Oh, the company set it as Yu Xiao because he is an artist under XX Film Company, so of course they would select him above others. He also auditioned and his acting is pretty fine and he fits the character."

"Yu Xiao. . ." An Luxia has heard of Yu Xiao before. He was very famous in Country A right now because of his cold but handsome appearance and strong acting skills.

An Luxia had also watched one of his dramas, and she had to admit that he was very good looking, although it couldn't compare with Mo Han.

After lunch, they went back to watching auditions and one by one, people went back home or stayed for the second round.

---

By dinner time, they were finally left with ten people to finish their audition.

The door was pushed open and a girl about An Luxia's height walked in, looking around a little nervously before stepping in and walking towards the middle of the room.

"Good afternoon. I am Qin Hui, 22 years old."

An Luxia looked at her and then at the information she provided. She had no experience in the industry and wrote that she only came because she was a big fan of the novel.

This caught An Luxia's attention, and as an author, she did not really care about her experience. With a smile, An Luxia leaned forward and asked the first question, "You are a fan of the novel?"

Hearing this, the girl relaxed a little as her eyes lit up, "Yes, yes. I have been reading it since the very beginning!"

The director looked the girl up and down and whispered to An Luxia, "She does fit the description of An Xia quite well, right?"

An Luxia paused for a few seconds before nodding, "Yes."

Although in An Luxia's mind, she always compared the actresses to herself because she wrote An Xia based on her own appearance, this girl was quite similar.

"Please start your audition. Scene 56."

Scene 56 was the scene of when An Luxia's biological parents had come to their house, and the drama had altered it slightly to make it more dramatic.

The girl took a deep breath and closed her eyes. When she opened them again, they were filled with rage, "All you did was give birth to me!"

"All you did for me was bring me to this world and raise me for 3 years. And then you threw me away for a baby that wasn't even fully developed yet!"

An Luxia watched intriguingly and couldn't help but be reminded of when this scene had actually happened in front of her own eyes, when she had said those words herself.

"Cut!" The director said, looking towards the producer and then at An Luxia, whispering, "I think her acting skill is pretty good and she is a newbie. Under Yu Xiao, we might be able to create another star through this film."

"Plus, it might be good to pick someone the audience has never seen before, because most people will be watching this for the novel, so it is a perfect opportunity to bring some new people."

An Luxia smiled and had no objections. She quite liked this little girl.

"Then it's decided?"

The producer and An Luxia all nodded.

"Qin Hui, right? If you are to get this role, would you be okay with signing under XX Film Entertainment," the director asked, because they would not be able to use someone who is not signed under any agency.

The girl was too shocked to speak for a few seconds before she replied shakily, "Yes. . ."

"Then congratulations, we have decided for you to play the role of An Xia."

The girl put both hands up to her mouth, still unable to believe the news for several seconds. An Luxia chuckled at her cute behavior and stood up, clapping as everyone in the room joined in.

However, they still had to go through the process and they finished watching the final nine peoples' auditions before sending them all home.

Now that the main leads were all picked, the filming was going to start.

---

It was the first day of filming, and luckily, it was a Sunday, so An Luxia went to see how things were going.

Mo Han was not very happy about having less time with his wife, but he still sent her over to the set before leaving, commanding her, "Remember that I'll be here at 12 to eat lunch together."

"I know, I know. Okay, bye!" An Luxia excitedly entered the set, having never been to a film set before.

They were starting with the first scene, which was at a hotel, since just like the novel, it began in a hotel room.

The hotel was closed to the public for the filming, and when An Luxia showed the guards her pass, she was able to enter.

Many fans were crowded outside, but they were not able to enter.. An Luxia walked over to the elevator since the filming was on the 14th floor, and when the elevator door opened, she immediately saw another person inside.
