Chapter 350

Chapter 350: Phoenix Soaring Above Nine Skies

No!

They had to save her!

Luo Yunzhu, Chuling, and Zhang Tiancheng all leaped up without a care for the demonic beasts charging at them. Even if they could only act as human shields, they never wanted to see her die before their eyes.

At that very moment, when life and death were hanging by a single thread, a silhouette clad in white sped their way, crushing the demonic beasts with every step.

Lin Suyin could not take her eyes off Si Mobai as he descended from the skies like a god. She felt her heart stop momentarily. Had he come to save her?

Wherever Si Mobai went, bursts of spiritual energy exploded. Dozens of demonic beasts were blown apart, yet he did not even spare them a glance. He ignored them all as he swept toward Feng Tianlan, shoving Lin Suyin out of his way with a stream of spiritual force. He stretched out his big hands and circled Feng Tianlan’s slim waist, pulling her into his embrace, whispering, “Lan’er.”

“Yunzhu!” Feng Tianlan screamed as she saw a monstrous demonic beast sneaking up on Luo Yunzhu, who was as pale as paper.

Si Mobai tightened his grip around Feng Tianlan’s slender waist as he flew toward Luo Yunzhu. He dealt a sharp blow of spiritual force to the beast, sending it flying. The demonic beast rolled in pain and was instantly blown to pieces.

Howl! Howl! Howl!

Beastly howls filled the air, and the skies trembled.

“Why did you come?” Feng Tianlan looked at the beasts attacking them. They were now surrounded by Stage 3 demonic beasts instead of Stage 1 creatures. Her expression darkened. The situation had quickly turned dire. It hadn’t been long, and these were only Stage 3 and 4 beasts. If they dragged this out any longer, she was sure that Stage 5 or 6 demonic beasts, spiritual beasts, or even divine beasts would soon follow.

Even Si Mobai would be no match for them. What lay ahead was certain death!

Si Mobai killed heaps of demonic beasts without even looking. He threw out ball after ball of spiritual energy. With a colossal boom, he pulverized dozens of wicked creatures in an instant. The sky was eerily crimson. It looked as if it were about to rain blood.

“As the mentor-in-charge, it is my responsibility to ensure my students’ safety,” he said. But the only one he really wanted to protect was Feng Tianlan.

Feng Tianlan could not bring herself to reply. Was he worried that she would feel burdened?

When they’d first started fighting, the day had been bright blue with drifting clouds. Now, the moon hung high in the night sky, and they were still fighting. More than ten hours had o, and the ferocious demonic beasts kept coming at them without any fear of pain or death. Wave after wave attacked tirelessly, and the beasts’ levels continued to climb.

Si Mobai and Feng Tianlan were about to exhaust their very last ounce of strength. If not for the Spirit Continuing Pill, they would have died at the claws of these monsters long ago. The wounds on their bodies were countless. However, with that strange vine healing her wounds and Si Mobai’s protection, Feng Tianlan was in much better condition than the other.

“Si Mobai, you should leave on your own.” Feng Tianlan gasped for air like a fish out of water. She shot out beams of spiritual power, which had weakened considerably. They could not hold on any longer.

Si Mobai did not answer. Instead, he continued to fight off swarm after swarm of beasts, protecting Feng Tianlan and her friends. He could not bear to see her devastated by losing anyone she genuinely cared for.

“Si Mobai,” Feng Tianlan insisted solemnly.

Si Mobai’s eyes had turned red from all the killing. He said, “I can still hold on. We have fought our way through for a very good distance now. Just hang in there a little while longer.”

He had killed more monsters than he could count in the dozen hours since he had arrived. He would take Feng Tianlan away from this place and make sure that she came to no harm. He would stay alive and well at her side.

Feng Tianlan looked at the endless pairs of green eyes glowing sinisterly in the dark. She recalled her previous life, where she had died a horrible death. A glaze of light washed over her eyes and then was quickly concealed. She would never succumb to fate before she had avenged herself. Mere demonic beasts—what was there to be afraid of?

Feng Tianlan bit her finger and blood gushed from the wound. She smeared the blood on her forehead, and the Phoenix Emblem immediately looked like it was coming alive. “Phoenix soaring above nine skies.”

As her words fell, the borderless night flared blinding red, and a piercing phoenix whistle cut through the skies. The red light converged and slowly took the shape of a giant Fire Phoenix, gliding through the night sky on enormous wings. An overwhelming regality crashed down from above, swallowing everything in its way.

All of the beserk, rioting beasts fell on all fours. As they cowered, their bodies trembled in great fear. It looked as if they were bowing to the kingly phoenix.

Behind the demonic beasts, a smear of a shadow observed the fiery phoenix soaring in the distance. A dark shade of light flashed across his eyes.
