The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 98 - Let Them See Your Fangs

"Tsk tsk, don't ask. Anyways, what the location brother Mo wanted us to meet?" Shrugging his friend's assumption, Ethan inquired as he forgot to ask Lexi. Moreover, she might be focusing on her audition hence, he didn't want to disturb her.

"Eh? Didn't he tell you where?" Puzzled, Chris Yu inquired. In his knowledge, this kind of important discussion that Morris Liu would personally handle, how would someone like Ethan also regard this with much importance wouldn't know this simple meeting place? Also, Morris Liu should have informed Ethan by now that the documents he asked of him were in his hands. Therefore, an exchange of information should have been settled by now.

"Just say it, damn it!" Ethan grinded his teeth in annoyance. Can't his friend just say what he was asked and stopped probing on things that might lead to another teasing about Lexi? Ethan wasn't always like this alas, probably, his insecurity earlier that was set aside and his grandfather's assuming things were now resurfacing and was being vented out to the innocent Chris Yu.

"Woah Woah, chill bro! What's with you? Get laid and you'll feel better, damn…" Dismayed at Ethan's unusual attitude, Chris Yu spatted his advice. Minutes of dissing each other took place before Chris Yu finally drop the location of the meeting place while Ethan prepared himself as he argued with him.

-----

The moment Ethan hanged up on Chairman Edward Lu, the old man shook his head and clicked his tongue.

"This brat!" He yelled in dissatisfaction as his favorite grandson was too comfortable with him that he became more and more dauntless. To his knowledge, only Ethan Lu could treat this respectable man with pure transparency which Edward Lu actually admired about this grandson of his.

Ultimately, Ethan was a genuine man that would speak his mind even to him and not some of those individuals that utter flowery words but schemed on his back. Ethan Lu actually reminded the old man of his younger years hence, Edward Lu's favor of passing the majority of his shares in the company to him was as clear as the day. The only catch is, Ethan doesn't want it.

"Chairman, the information about the young master…" Suddenly, a knock outside the enormous and grandiose study room of Edward Lu was heard before a man in his mid 40's entered. He bowed his head in respect and relayed his report about the abrupt task his boss' ordered.

"Hmm?! Did you get the information who was the woman my grandson's regularly hanged out these days?" When his trusted assistant came, Edward Lu's persona gradually changed into a cunning yet dignified one. It's as if he was a completely different person unlike when he was with Ethan.

"Chairman, these are the girls that went out with young master months ago, but in the past month, he wasn't seeing anyone of them." Edward Lu's assistant Bernard Du passed a folder that contains different profiles of girls that Ethan Lu dated since last month and the months before.

"Ohh… they look decent and their status is well, so-so. But, who was he seeing now if not of these pretty girls?" Skimming through the pages of the profiles of the girls that Ethan dated, Edward Lu was uninterested to read more after hearing that his grandson wasn't seeing anyone of them.

"Young Master had been very discreet and his activities nowadays were all being protected by his assistant. Chairman, it was evident that young master was purposely halting our intelligence." Bernard Gu didn't hold back on his honest report. Indeed, though he gave an order to spy on the Lu family's heir under Edward Lu command, Ethan Lu had foreseen it coming.

Truly, he could not judge Ethan Lu with his seemingly ignorant ploy as he managed to foresee this coming beforehand. Regardless, this just means that Ethan Lu was hiding something... or someone that he was secretly keeping away from the eyes of the Lu family.

Was it his lover? Did the young master finally had someone? However, if he was being extreme on hiding someone, does that mean he knew that the Lu family, especially the core members would disagree?

"Hmmm… interesting." Edward Lu caressed the tip of his blanched mustache as his piqued interest intensified. The thought inside his assistant also hovered in his mind as he perceived this move of Ethan rather unusual. The corner of his thin lips curled upward as he spoke,

"Withdraw all your man… and slip a bit of information regarding this matter inside my family. I just had a good idea how to make him vied for power hehe." An unreadable glint flashed across Edward Lu's eyes as he spat his new order. He added with a voice filled with anticipation,

"Let's see how far this secret lover would push him… Let this little game begin." Edward Lu grinned as he leaned his back on his executive chair. Since Ethan had been doing extreme means for an information lockdown that he never did before, Edward Lu was intrigued.

It's no harm for him if he knew who was Ethan hiding or whatever status she held -- whether she was at the lowest of the social ladder or not, as long as his grandson was happy, he doesn't have a say. However, if worse comes to worst, Ethan should know that having someone that lower his status had a huge price to pay.

"Hehe, that brat… let them see your fangs and prove that choosing you as my heir was the right decision I made in my life. Haha!" Edward Lu chuckled with the thought of his grandson maturing because of this forthcoming pretense in the chaotic world of the families in the modern hierarchy.
