The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 71 - Getting To Know Stage

On top of an enormous hotel's building, that was owned by the Lu Family, Ethan Lu abided her demands of a quiet place to chill. He first recommended tons of club and places but Lexi insisted that the less crowd, the better. After all, she still has an ongoing scandal and her, being sighted with the young master of the Lu family would cause another backlash to her tainted reputation.

Ethan Lu doesn't mind it at all, alas, for her peace of mind, he still gave in to her request. Hence, that's why he took her to his usual spot whenever he wanted to be alone.

"That's what happened!" Lexi grumbled as she frowned. Her face slightly flushed and her head felt as light as it is.

"Ahh, haha really?" Ethan Lu awkwardly responded as he doesn't know what to reply to her. Currently, for her own personal reasons, Lexi downed three cans of beer.

"What is so funny about that? I am telling you, there's a flying dumpling here!" Lexi affirmed seeing his unconvinced countenance. She added,

"It also wanted me to do quest that doesn't make sense in my character development! But... she's so cute I wished she's as big as baymax."

"Hey chu! Get yourself together chu! Why are you being careless chu!" Churu, on the other hand, sassed; panic stricken about Lexi's absurd action. She added in agitation.

"Is this why you asked me if Ethan Lu is harmless chu? Damn it! What I meant is Ethan's dangerous level isn't that high chu!!" Churu face palmed as she felt a paramount headache for the first time.

However, Lexi only grinned in response. She was too drunk after consuming three cans of beer. Thus, she couldn't properly comprehend what's the adorable fuming dumpling was talking about.

"Tsk tsk, you shouldn't be drinking if you're a lightweight..." Fortunately, Ethan doesn't took her stories into heart as he thought Lexi was just saying stuff because she was drunk.

Shaking his head, he was about to reach for the other packs of beer on Lexi's side but halted when she slapped his hand away.

"Ah! What--"

"Ha?! These are mine! No, crossing lines. This, my space, that, yours." Squinting her eyes, Lexi warily secured all the sweets, chips, and beers on her side as if she was afraid that Ethan would snatch her precious snacks.

Glancing at the space that she was talking about, Ethan's face distorted seeing that he has nothing, while her space was packed!

"Hey, I was the one who bought that!" Dismayed, Ethan demanded his rights to have his share.

"These are payments, duh?" Looking back at him with eyes filled with disdain, Lexi opened another can of beer then sipped the bubbles that eroded from it.

"Hey! Stop! Jeez, you're drunk already! How can you drink with a man?" Displease by her recklessness, Ethan could not help but think that Lexi could do this with others. On a second note, getting her trust was like going through the needle hole. But still, it was exasperating to see Lexi this way.

"Aren't we friends? Besides, aside from the ridiculous quest, I should celebrate!" Lexi tapped her chest as she brightly grinned revealing all the goodness of her heart. She added,

"As I said, I took a step of moving on and this… meaning, letting go of the man I loved."

"Ohh, you really meant that huh?" Stunned for a vague reason, Ethan raised his brows, confirming her statements.

"Yah,"

Since Ethan could neither drink or munch a snack, he carefully laid his body on the concrete floor of the rooftop; not minding the little dirt that hugged his expensive suit. Using his muscular arm as a pillow, he peered at the night sky full of stars. After some time, Ethan broke his silence as he inquired,

"Why are you so in love with brother Morris by the way? I mean, he's great yeah and helped you on your trying childhood days but… after everything, you know Mia, why didn't you let him go then?"

"Heh, because I loved him and I wanted to fight for him… or perhaps, that's what I thought. Maybe, I have done those because of my ego… yeah, I think that's what it is." All of a sudden, Lexi's lively aura slowly dissipated as she pondered all the reasons she used to justify her action.

The cold breeze of the night enveloped between them as neither of them talked. They silently dwelled on their inner thoughts as if nothing could snapped them from whatever they are thinking.

Suddenly, Ethan sang a tune which was surprisingly soulful that snapped Lexi back from her stupor.

"I don't know what it is that you've done to me~

But it's caused me to act in such a crazy way…"

She heard that one of Ethan's talents was singing that could melt a woman's heart the moment they heard it. Alas, she didn't actually expected that it was true!

"Whatever it is that you do when you do what you're doing~

It's a feeling that I don't understand~" Ethan continued singing this song as it actually depicted what he was truly feeling in recent days.
