The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 595 - See For Yourself

"Alright, everyone! I'm sorry for you to witness that. Let's continue the party." When Laurel Wang was escorted out, Diane Huang clapped her hands.

"Miss Huang, I apologize to do this on your special day. I'll compensate you in the future." As everyone pretended to act as if nothing happened, Ethan Lu turned to Diane Huang as he apologized sincerely.

"Yeah, you should." Diane Huang faintly chuckled as she humored.

"Hehe..." Chuckling back, Ethan Lu just nodded his head as he turned to face Lexi. He walked back to her; finally, he could have his time with his lovely sunshine.

"I'm sorry about that." Stopping in front of Lexi, Ethan Lu gently smiled. He then held his hand out, gesturing her to take it.

"It's fine," Lexi meekly smiled as she slid her hands on his.

As their hands intertwined, Ethan Lu squeezed it a little as they walked to Diane Huang. However, just as they took a few steps, Lexi's other wrist was pulled to the side.

"Ahh!"

Out of instinct, Ethan Lu pulled her hand, thinking Lexi slipped. To his surprise, Lexi didn't slip, but rather, someone attempted to snatch his wife away from him; right in front of him!

"Mr. Lu, that's not fair. We have to compete fair and square." Holding Lexi's wrist, Zack Lee raised her hand as he smirked towards Ethan Lu.

Just when everyone thought the show was over, Zack Lee reminded them of the bets they had before Laurel Wang. Their gazes altered from Ethan Lu to Zack Lee, and then to Lexi.

"Zack Lee!" Grinding her teeth, Diane Huang warned. Earlier, she was unsure on Lexi and Ethan Lu's relationship because of the scandal. However, now that everything was clear, Diane Huang was certain Zack Lee would lose everything tonight.

He should have remained quiet. They already forgotten about it. Why must he remind everyone? 'This fool... is he courting death?!' it urged Diane Huang to beat some senses to him out of frustration.

Despite that Zack Lee poked her nerves earlier, he was still her friend. Therefore, she was irked that Zack Lee was being foolish despite witnessing what happened to Laurel Wang.

Meanwhile, Ethan Lu's gaze traveled down to the hand that was holding his wife's wrist. Narrowing his eyes, a different aura emanated from him.

"Let go." Sensing Ethan Lu's stifling mood, Lexi coldly set her natural sharp eyes on Zack Lee's playful front. "Mr. Lee, I won't repeat myself." Lexi added, her tone was colder than before.

"I'm sorry, sweetheart. I can't." Zack Lee beamed her a sweet smile as he shook his head. Glancing at Ethan Lu who was staring at their hands, his grip tightened as Lexi tried to pull her hand away.

"Mr. Lu, I won't mind holding Miss Yang's hand while you hold the other. I can't let an opportunity slip, you know." Grinning from ear to ear, Zack Lee raised his brows as he watched Ethan Lu slid his hands inside his suit pocket.

Dialing someone, Ethan Lu placed his phone in front of his ear. Unconsciously, everyone anticipated who he was calling at a time like this. They got their answers when the line connected.

"Contact Atty. Bai and Chairman Lee — Mr. Zack Lee will be transferring his share to me." The instant the call connected, Ethan Lu inexpressively ordered. He ended the call after they received his command.

The crowd was still processing what Ethan Lu was saying. They just unconsciously stared at him like fools — except Zack Lee and Lexi.

"Mr. Lu," amused that Ethan Lu was confident that he'd win, Zack Lee's eyes glinted. However, before he could continue, Ethan Lu finally raised his dark, threatening gaze.

"Mr. Lee, we are different. If you don't mind sharing what's yours to others — I do. You've been holding onto Lexi's hand for sixty-five seconds now; I'm afraid even if you offer the whole Lee Group, it'll never be enough." Cold and intimidating, Ethan Lu never broke his gaze away from Zack Lee's front.

The smile on Zack Lee slowly faded away before it returned to a brighter countenance. "Mr. Lu, is Miss Yang's truly yours? Without a ring, a lot of things may happen." In a matter-of-fact tone, Zack Lee uttered as he shrugged his shoulders.

"Miss Yang?" Slowly, Ethan Lu slowly blinked his eyes as he tilted his head to the side. Shifting his gaze to Lexi that was glaring daggers at Zack Lee, Ethan Lu mildly nodded his head.

"Mr. Zack Lee, I noticed that you've been addressing her as Miss Yang. I don't mind though, but keep in mind, she's also Mrs. Lu." Without further ado, Ethan Lu informed him and everyone around. His words didn't falter; no signs of regret in admitting the status of his relationship with Lexi.

"She's been and will always be our Lu Family matriarch. In simple terms, you've been holding on to someone else's wife for eighty-two seconds now." Ethan Lu's aura sent chills down on everyone's spine.

Even from the distant of the crowd, they felt the threatening vibe that suddenly dawned on the premises. Laurel Wang's presence earlier couldn't even bring this kind of atmosphere around. Yet, because Zack Lee had been holding on to Lexi's hand for a minute and a few seconds, Ethan Lu seemed he had killed the man inside his mind multiple times.

"Eighty-three—" Instead of more words, Ethan Lu continued counting. This time, it was not just inside his head but verbally.

His last remark was akin to a last warning as Zack Lee instinctively let Lexi's hands go. The red alarms inside his head rang, warning him to stop going further as he stepped into a landmine.

"Wife?" Despite the sudden rush inside him, Zack Lee only showed a minor difference from his expression earlier.

"See for yourself." Out of nowhere, Ethan Lu tossed a small red booklet to him — marriage certificate. "We've been married for almost a year." Pulling Lexi to him, Ethan Lu said in a matter-of-fact tone as he scanned Lexi.
