The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 572 - Don't Lose Your Head

"Master! Are you alright?!" When Lyrick Jiang snapped, he immediately turned to check Ethan Lu from the back passenger seat.

"Yes..." Nodding his head, Ethan Lu raised his gaze to the opened door where Churu departed. He saw her jogged her way away from their car, seemingly going to where the rider headed.

However, how could she keep up with a speeding motorcycle with her pace? Even if she sprinted, Churu wouldn't catch up... or so he thought.

Ethan Lu's gaze continued to follow her jogging figure and when she was quite a distance — where no other people could notice her — Churu suddenly vanished. Ethan Lu was unsure if she jumped or run, but what he was certain was she was too fast that he didn't see what happened.

Meanwhile, upon confirming that his master was fine, Lyrick Jiang called for the police and medical help. Although none of them were physically hurt, Lyrick Jiang wanted to make sure his master was fine.

After several minutes, the police arrived, and an ambulance followed. They questioned Lyrick Jiang while medical professionals examined Ethan Lu.

"Master," When Lyrick Jiang was done with the police, he approached Ethan Lu that was sitting on the opened ambulance.

"What did they say?" Ethan Lu massage his shoulder as he could feel a slight pain.

"Apparently, this road has limited cctv. We are still waiting if they caught the biker in footage." Lyrick Jiang reported with a heavy sigh.

By the looks of it, the biker knew that this area was still unsecured. Although it was too advanced for Lyrick Jiang to conclude, however his gut feeling was telling him it was intentional.

Recalling Churu's words earlier, Lyrick Jiang frowned. What she said was true. Aside from being inexperienced in combat, Lyrick Jiang wasn't also that keen.

He was certain that if Jarred Guo was the one driving earlier, he would have noticed if they were being tailed. After all, Jarred Guo's radar for danger was efficient — the reason he became Ethan Lu's driver and bodyguard.

"Stop putting that ugly frown on your face." Seeing the sullen expression on Lyrick Jiang's face, Ethan Lu shook his head. "Send some of our men to help with the investigation. We have to know if this was intentional, or he was just a reckless driver." Ethan Lu commanded.

"Huh? Y - yes!" Snapping from his trance, Lyrick Jiang stuttered as he nodded his head.

"Don't lose your composure." Ethan Lu reminded.

There was a reason why he would often deploy Nico Zhuang and Jarred Guo, but often keep Lyrick Jiang by his side. Aside from Nico Zhuang being the perfect protector of Lexi, Ethan Lu knew his men too well.

He was confident that once Nico Zhuang grew fond of Lexi — which he was certain he would — Nico Zhuang would protect her even if his life was on the line. He was as loyal as that. It wasn't that Jarred Guo and Lyrick Jiang couldn't do that, but they were things that Nico Zhuang could do, that only he was capable.

That was to be his wife's reliable friend.

On the other hand, Ethan Lu kept Lyrick Jiang in his side because he believed that even under great pressure, Lyrick Jiang could keep his composure. After all, Ethan Lu needed an extra mind whenever his own was rattled.

Also, Ethan Lu has confidence with his right-hand man. He believed that Lyrick Jiang could overcome anything using his wits, no matter how dire and dangerous the situation.

As for Jarred Guo, Ethan Lu could only depend on things as investigations, and avoid incidents like this. After all, the said man's radar whenever danger comes close was strong.

This means to say, the three of them had their weaknesses and strengths. Ethan Lu looked more on their strengths. Therefore, he couldn't afford Lyrick Jiang losing his composure.

"My apologies, master." Ashamed, Lyrick Jiang hanged his head low.

"Remember, I can only rely on you at a time like this. Never lose your head." Ethan Lu reminded as a faint sigh escaped his lips. "Because if you did, we'll both be dead." He added, snapping some facts on him.

"Master..." Slowly, Lyrick Jiang raised his gaze and met Ethan Lu's soft yet dominant eyes.

"What Churu said, although they were true, that doesn't mean we're truly vulnerable." Looking straight at his assistant's eyes, Ethan Lu stated. "I believe in you so, believe in your capabilities."

"Yes," after a second, Lyrick Jiang bowed his head as his confidence slowly returned. It was silly of him to sulk just because of a little insecurity.

Sensing that the Lyrick Jiang he knew returned, Ethan Lu nodded his head as the corner of his lips curled into a meek smile. After that, Lyrick Jiang excused himself as he needed to make his move and instruct their men to do what needed to be done.

Meanwhile, Ethan Lu sighed as he stared at the direction Churu headed. "Did she catch him...?" He muttered.

Although Ethan Lu wasn't certain, with what he witnessed earlier, he could not help but wonder. After all, that was the first time he witnessed something out of this world. No one could vanish into thin air just like that.

On the second thought, Churu's existence had always been out of this world. Not to mention, the system within him. Therefore, upon recalling that Churu was initially a dumplings, and now a young human adult, Ethan Lu somehow wasn't surprised anymore.

"I hope she could..." Ethan Lu murmured hopefully. Catching the person might give them a good lead as he doubts their investigation would give enough proof.

Just then, Ethan Lu felt his phone inside his pocket suit vibrate. Checking who it was, Ethan Lu sighed upon seeing it was Lexi. "She probably heard what happened." Ethan Lu whispered before glancing at Lyrick Jiang.

"Of course, he told her." Ethan Lu shook his head and clicked his tongue. He then answered the call and in that instant, he had to hold his phone three inches away from his ear until Lexi could calm down.
