The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 553 - It's A Good Day, My Dear Lexi!

"Miss Yan — ah?" Upon seeing Lexi, Aubrey Ning, greeted and stopped midway upon seeing the dashing figure behind Lexi.

Aubrey Ning in her bright pink tee, white short skirt revealing her long juicy legs, matched with a white sneakers and a black and white open top head hat, paused in her tracks as she altered her gaze from Lexi to Ethan Lu in interest.

"Mr. Lu! What a good day to bump into you!" After a beat, Aubrey Ning welcomed in glee as she resumed on her tracks.

"Miss Ning," Bearing his business mild tone, Ethan Lu stretched his lips from side to side yet the smile didn't reach his ear. Lexi and Ethan Lu agreed that he's only accompany her to the lobby and Lexi would head in her way.

Who would have thought that Aubrey Ning was in the lobby showcasing her flawless legs — kidding. She seemed she went out from an important call as she was talking to someone earlier with caution.

"I see, so the rumors are not true?" Crossing her arms under her chest, Aubrey Ning's eyes glinted in interest as she peered at the two clueless lovers. "I didn't mention it to Miss Yang because she won't let me ask personal matters." Aubrey Ning shrugged as if Lexi wasn't hearing her.

"What is it?" Arching his brows, Ethan Lu was quite curious about what she was talking about. Although rumors about his relationship with Lexi had never truly died down as they would pop every once in a while, it intrigued Ethan Lu about this particular rumor Aubrey Ning was talking about.

After all, Aubrey Ning rarely questioned the legitimacy of a rumor. Hence, to make her have uncertainties, it should be interesting.

"Haha," teasing him for a while, Aubrey Ning chuckled as she covered her lips by the back of her hand. "That you're cheating." She humored, which made Ethan Lu's interest diminish in an instant.

"Well, rumors like that are always available — what's new?"

"New? The person you're 'cheating' with — Laurel Wang." Aubrey Ning dawdled over Laurel Wang's name, emphasizing to the two why it was interesting.

She couldn't be blamed though. After all, although Lexi's way of expressing her love and showing to the world that she has a healthy and peaceful relationship with Ethan Lu was sweet, that method was perceived otherwise to businessmen like them.

The time Lexi publicly showed off Ethan Lu was hours after rumors about Ethan Lu and Laurel Wang's suspicious relationship floated. Well, the corporate world somehow was interested in this gossip as it involved parties were important figures.

"Miss Ning, why don't we go over there and get down to business?" Forcing herself not to lose her cool, Lexi stretched her lips up that didn't reach her ears.

"Don't worry, dear. I'm always on your side and besides, I never liked that woman." Sensing Lexi's displeasure, Aubrey Ning winked as she shrugged her shoulders.

Aubrey Ning then glanced up at Ethan Lu who had an ugly frown on his lips. "I'll be borrowing Lexi for a while. It's nice meeting you, Mr. Lu." She slightly bowed her head, showing politeness to someone that held greater power and influence than her.

With that said note, Ethan Lu watched his wife being 'dragged' by the cunning fox Aubrey Ning. "Why do I feel so unsettled knowing she's my wife's business partner?" He murmured.

Just then, he caught a figure from the corner of his eyes which made him turn to the direction. "Lou?" He whispered as Ethan Lu knitted his brows.

"What is he doing here?"

Meanwhile...

"Aubrey, you don't have to mention that to him." As soon as Lexi and Aubrey Ning entered a private dining room, Lexi rolled her eyes as she perched at the available seat.

"What did I say?" Feigning innocence, Aubrey Ning raised her brows as she sat on the chair opposite Lexi's.

"The person you're cheating with?" Lexi repeated the exact same words that came out from Aubrey Ning's lips. "Seriously? You make it sound that he's really cheating." Lexi added as she shook her head sideways.

She had been partners with Aubrey Ning for quite some time thus, Lexi was used at Aubrey Ning's antics. Also, with the span of their formal relationship, the two women had also grown as friends — though there was still a line in between.

"Well, I just want to make sure that it wasn't true — sorry, dear." Shrugging her shoulders, Aubrey Ning chuckled which made Lexi sigh once again.

Aubrey Ning was always careful with her words. She wouldn't deliberately say careless remarks if there wasn't a reason. No matter if it was about her own interest or other reason.

"Also, the coincidence of the rumor and your sudden sugar rush is interesting. You don't tell this busybody more about your personal life so..." In a matter-of-fact tone, Aubrey Ning justified because even if she's friends with Lexi, she only knew one thing or two about her. Hence, what could she do to satiate her inner busybody?

"Well, because it's the day Laurel Wang admitted that she's my husband's mistress." Lexi helplessly sighed as she somehow guessed the reason of the gossip.

"What?!" Shocked at the news, Aubrey Ning widened her eyes and her brows creased, loosing her poise for a second.

"Mhmm... it's funny watching her lie." Lexi rested her jaw by the back of her hand as she recalled Laurel Wang's lying face. Still, although her remarks was nonchalant, she felt otherwise.

"Uh oh," When Aubrey Ning recovered from the news, she mildly cleared her throat as she stood from her seat. Lexi raised her gaze as it landed on the cunning smirk on the woman's lips. "That's very interesting, my dear Lexi."

"So?" Arching her brows, Lexi somehow had a gut feeling upon seeing the glint in the woman's eyes.

"Like I said, I'm always on your side and I don't like that woman so, let's scrub salt on her delusional heart." Aubrey Ning winked as she raised her brows in an up and down motion, suggestively.

Seeing that Lexi was at a lost, Aubrey Ning chuckled. "It's a good day, my dear Lexi. Do you know who I saw earlier today?"

Lexi stared at the energetic Aubrey Ning and watched her mouth moved as it stated, "Laurel Wang."
