The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 381 - Lady Lara

It was one of the best moments Ethan Lu had ever encountered throughout his entire existence. Words could and would never give justice to the overwhelming mixture of emotions he had right now. Unbeknownst to him, being a parent, a mystery box that kept hidden inside his head about children was unlocked.

If before, Ethan Lu wasn't really fond of kids as he perceived them as little devils, but right now, even if it wasn't happening yet, his emotions and views towards kids especially to those unfortunate ones would change.

"They are precious, aren't they?" Watching how moving the atmosphere Ethan Lu had around him was while staring down at his little boy, Jaime Liao muttered before he turned his attention to Ethan Lu's other child inside the private nursery room.

"They are…" Gentle and soothing, Ethan Lu tenderly smiled as his little guy's lips curled upward. Who would have thought that just one smile, it felt so priceless that no amount of money could buy the effect he had given him.

"So, you named him Evan… what name have you given to the baby girl?" Turning his attention to the other baby that was soundlessly sleeping, Jaime Liao inquired.

Upon hearing the doctor's question, Ethan Lu was reminded that he also had another baby. Well, he was too immersed in playing with his little guy as he seemed more playful and active while the other one was too silent that one would think there was no other baby around. Turning to his little princess sleeping on the bassinet, a smile stretched on his lips.

"My princess's name is Lady Lara. Lexi told me that when she was a child, she always nagged my in-laws to add the 'Lady' onto her first name." Recalling the time he and Lexi were deciding on the babies' names, Ethan Lu chuckled at the silly scenario.

The had made a poll on who should name the twins and dragged everyone including Edward Lu and his loyal butler into the game, Ethan Lu's subordinates were to vote for the names Lexi and Ethan Lu had chosen. It was a tough and competitive week but, aside from the ten percent stress they encountered, looking back now, it was actually a fun memory that was worthy to remember.

"I see… their names are beautiful and suit them perfectly." Nodding his head in acknowledgment, Jaime Liao turned to face Ethan Lu with a smile. They talked for a while before Ethan Lu finally had to put the baby back down to the bassinet in a careful manner.

Doing the same procedure, Jaime Liao had to help Ethan Lu to carry his baby girl before Ethan Lu had to have a heart to heart talk with his little princess. Soon, after his first interaction with their newborn children, Ethan Lu's visit finally came to an end.

"Doctor Liao, thank you.' Slightly bowing his head, Ethan Lu delivered his sincerest gratitude towards the doctor that had gone against his own hospital rules. Therefore, his view of this doctor improved even more.

"Don't worry about it. Lexi can go home tomorrow if I'm correct— with the twins of course." Returning Ethan Lu's polite bow, Jaime Liao responded as he said the possible day that Lexi and the twins could go home. After all, the twins were a healthy pair and Lexi's condition was stable. Therefore, they could go home sooner than expected.

"Really? I am worried that she hadn't woken up yet."

"That's normal, all is well." Bearing the usual gentle smile, Jaime Liao reassured. However, Ethan Lu had repeatedly heard that same thing from Lillian Yang yet, he was still so worried that it made him let out a heavy sigh.

As the two walked outside, Ethan Lu glanced at Jaime Liao and noticed that he wasn't wearing any white coat. Rather, he was just wearing a casual semi-formal polo sleeve that was tucked in his un-creased trousers. However, Ethan Lu didn't plan to bother him by asking as he respected other people's matters.

"I'll see you around, I will have to take my leave." In front of the two elevators, Jaime Liao smiled a little as he excused himself and stood towards the other lift. "I took a day off to see Rika."

"This early?" Knitting his brows, although Ethan Lu wasn't in a habit of asking this type of question, alas, due to the time and how early it was for the two to date, Ethan Lu heedlessly spoke his mind.

"Hmm," Humming a tune, Jaime Liao glanced at the top of the elevator that was displaying what floor the lift was currently at the moment. "She broke up with me because I fell asleep last night and forgot to tell her. So, the long farewell message. She blocked my number so I can only go to her to settle things."

Upon hearing the short yet precise reason behind his early visit to Rika Song, Ethan Lu's brows could not help but twitch. In his mind, he offered his earnest salute to Jaime Liao for being the big guy despite Rika Song's tantrums. At this time, Ethan Lu felt more fortunate being with Lexi as she was mature enough to trust and understand things more instead of complicating things at every turn.

Well, since it was not his problem and knowing Rika Song, the two would surely fix everything if Jaime Liao just showed himself to her. Soon, the elevator lift rang one after another before they opened for its passenger to ride. Ethan Lu took the lift going up while Jaime Liao was going down.

[End of flashback]

Lexi chuckles embraced her parent's hearty laughter that resonated across each corner of the private hospital room as they heard the part about Rika Song and Jaime Liao's lover's quarrel. On the other hand, Ethan Lu could only shake his head sideways as a heavy sigh escaped from his mouth.

"Love is surely blind." Ethan Lu murmured as he imagined how stressed poor Jaime Liao must be while dealing with Rika Song. Fair enough, he too was helpless with Lexi as he had fallen head over heels for her, such that everything about her seemed too normal and perfect. Therefore, one way or another, he somewhat understood Jaime Liao's maturity.
