The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 375 - Lyrick Jiang's Prayers

Edward Lu ended the call with a loud humph as if he was utterly dismayed at how 'irresponsible' his grandson was. Although he knew that Ethan Lu had been very busy handling things with their company affairs before taking a leave to accompany Lexi until she gives birth, he was still mad as Ethan Lu must be there to witness and be with Lexi on this wonderful day.

On the other hand, as Ethan Lu heard those series of beeping sounds from his phone, he instantly jolted from his seat and raised his hand a little.

"Meeting adjourned. Revise your presentation and send it to me tomorrow morning." With that said note, Ethan Lu took immediate strides outside the crowded conference room.

"Master—!" Confused and surprised at the same time, Lyrick Jiang called out as he hurriedly followed his boss.

Meanwhile, the rest inside the conference room fell into an awkward silence as their gaze could only follow their big boss's retreating figure. Just a second ago, he was silently listening to the presentation without saying anything and now, he ordered to revise the whole thing? Just what kind of call did he receive just now to prolong this project?

Aside from the disheartened employee that needed to pull another all-nighter to make it to the deadline, everyone else was confused as their grown cold boss of theirs seemed like he was panicking?

"Tch! Red can you be a little faster? My babies are coming!" Fussing in the back passenger seat, Ethan Lu clicked his tongue in annoyance as he felt that their speed wasn't fast enough.

"Master, I'm driving at a maximum speed." Explaining the situation, Jarred Guo coughed a little as he was already speeding. Glancing at the rear mirror, there were already enforcers following behind them as they already broke several traffic laws. Yet, he could not pull over as 'the law' named Ethan Lu already gave his verdict.

"What? Let me drive!" Ethan Lu glared daggers at the driver's seat as he ground his teeth.

Just like what his grandfather wanted, Ethan Lu could never miss Lexi giving birth to their beautiful children. Moreover, the way his grandfather spoke was as if Lexi was already giving birth. Hence, how could he keep his cool intact right now?

"Master, please calm down. I am sure Madam is going through labor and she will not give birth as fast as you think." Trying to tone things down, Lyrick Jiang turned his head from the front seat to the back passenger seat. Alas, the moment he laid his eyes on his boss, he was nearly blinded by the dark aura emanating from Ethan Lu.

"I don't care! My wife needs me!" Nothing seemed to get through Ethan Lu's head as his mind was already clouded and infected by Edward Lu's exaggeration of the recent event. Hence, remaining adamant, he firmly sassed.

'God, please help me!' Weeping inwardly, Lyrick Jiang said his prayers to all the deities he had known and asked for their heavenly help.

Just then, as if Lyrick Jiang's prayers were heard, his phone vibrated that was inside his suit pocket. Snapping, Lyrick Jiang immediately slid his hand inside his suit pocket to check who it was.

There, Nico Zhuang's contact name was displayed on the screen. Having no time to wonder what the reason was for this rare personal call, Lyrick Jiang answered.

"Put me on speaker." The very instant the line connected, Nico Zhuang calmly demanded. "Don't ask why just do what I asked." Knowing Lyrick Jiang, Nico Zhuang didn't let him stall him as his message was important.

"Oh— alright...?" Knitting his brows, Lyrick Jiang did what he was instructed to do as if Nico Zhuang was his boss. Pressing the speaker button, Lyrick Jiang held the phone away from his ear.

"It's on," Giving his green signal to his colleague that was at the end of the line, Lyrick Jiang muttered.

"Ethan? Son?" Instead of Nico Zhuang's voice, Lillian Yang's soothing voice was heard.

"Mom? How's Lexi and the babies?!" The very instant Ethan Lu heard his mother-in-law, Ethan Lu slightly calmed down as he worriedly inquired and moved his bum to the edge of the leather seat as he drew closer to the phone, held by his assistant.

"Oh dear," Upon hearing Ethan Lu, a sigh of relief was heard along with Lillian Yang's words. "She's going through labor right now but she's fine. I asked Nico to make a call to tell you to be careful on the road— you'll get here eventually." Knowing Ethan Lu, he would surely rush his way to the hospital with how Edward Lu called and scolded him. Therefore, Lillian Yang was worried that if he turned out to be rushing his way to the hospital, which was what was occurring right now, there might be some possible problems.

As soon as Lyrick Jiang heard Lillian Yang's statement, his eyes stung as he nearly kowtowed to worship the mother goddess. At this point, Lyrick Jiang wholeheartedly believed that there was a God because whenever he was in distress, his heavenly instruments named Lexi Yang and now, Lillian Yang always came to save the day!

"But—"

"Ethan, Lexi also requested that okay?" Interrupting the obvious complaint from her son-in-law, Lillian Yang used Lexi's name as she knew her daughter would rather wait than him getting into an accident because he was in a hurry.

"Okay..." Frowning a little, Ethan Lu nodded like an obedient little boy even though Lillian Yang could not see him.

"Thank you and I'll see you later. Rick, tell me if he's still insisting to speed up— we'll rat him out to Lexi, okay?"

"Yes, Madam Yang." Relieved that Lillian Yang mentioned that, Lyrick Jiang profusely nodded his head as he could use this excuse to reduce their terrifying speed that was akin to a space shuttle.

"Thank you, bye~" With that said note, Lillian Yang bid her farewell and ended the line.

At the same time, Jarred Guo was already reducing their vehicle's speed that wasn't too fast or too slow— just enough speed for them to reach their destination on time.

Ethan Lu tried to calm his racing, worried heart as he leaned his soaked of sweat back against the interiored seat. Since Lillian Yang personally requested him to calm down, Ethan Lu tried. However, no matter how silent he had gone, he could not sit still while biting the nail of his thumb.

"Don't reduce so much speed!" Snapping, Ethan Lu sassed once again to Jarred Guo as he felt that they were moving so much slower, even compared to a snail.
