The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 372 - I Don't Look Like Him, Why?

Once again, the whole room fell into a stifling silence as everyone sat around in the living area. For some reason, perhaps because they were worried about Victoria Tang, Lexi and Ethan Lu's eyes were glued on the unchanging front of Louis Lu even after receiving the news.

"Hey Lou, will you say something?" After the long silence between the little family of three, Ethan Lu finally decided to break the nerve-wracking vibe. Hence, he turned to face Louis Lu who seemed calmer than usual.

"I don't look like him, why?" As instructed, Louis Lu emotionlessly glanced at Victoria Tang's face before shifting it to the little guy holding onto her as if she were his lifeline.

"I don't know." Victoria Tang lightly bit her bottom lip as she responded to the first ridiculous question he asked as if it was normal and the most important thing right now.

On the other hand, the cheerleaders named Lexi Yang and Ethan Lu could not help their under-eye but twitch, uncontrollably. When Louis Lu's ridiculous question processed in their mind, they peered at Louis Lu with extreme dismay. Yet, both kept their silence as they watched everything unveil in the front row.

"What's his name?" Bearing the same tone and expression, Louis Lu glanced at the child again as he showed a little interest in the child.

"Vincent, Vincent Tang." Every question Louis Lu threw, Victoria Tang, answered them as truthfully and precise as possible. Knowing Louis Lu, he would appreciate a straightforward answer instead of a drama going around in circles.

"Vincent…" Nodding in understanding, Louis Lu repeated his child's name through a mumble. "Why is his sur name not after me?"

In that instant, Lexi and Ethan Lu cringed. They already expected some questions like the authenticity of him being the father or anything of the sort. Yet, they were wrong as Louis Lu's statements were beyond ridiculous. One could not tell if he was joking or being too serious as his banter would not fall in any of the categories.

"Because I am his mother."

"And you said I am the father." Rebutting, Louis Lu slightly tilted his head to the side as he calmly argued his rights. "Then, why did you get all the rights for him to look more like you and even named after your name." His last remarks notably made the room fall into another round of silence.

What he said, Lexi and Ethan Lu were rendered speechless as they could only turn their dismayed eyes to Louis Lu's stern surface. Was he seriously saying that it was Victoria Tang who chose that her son would look more like his mother instead of his father?

Granted that they perceived Louis Lu as weird, alas, deep down, Lexi and Ethan Lu actually thought that Louis Lu was just too knowledgeable. However, that image had now bore a dent by this bizarre conversation that they were hearing.

'Are the Lu's really this innocent?' Lexi could not help but wonder internally as she was reminded of how innocent Ethan Lu was about her pregnancy. If not for the help of tons of books that he had bought after her first check-up, Ethan Lu would remain pure and clueless on how to deal with her pregnancy.

"Lou! Please tell me you are kidding!" Meanwhile, Ethan Lu voiced out his distressed opinion as he could not contain it within himself anymore. From his first question that was the least to be worried about, Ethan Lu had been more anxious for Victoria Tang as the real important matters hadn't been talked about.

"I am not." Casting Ethan Lu a solemn glance, Louis Lu then shifted his gaze to Lexi's dismayed eyes and then to Victoria Tang and Vincent Tang. "I mostly know what I needed to know and had already ran a DNA test for the authenticity if I am indeed the father or not."

Indeed, when Louis Lu headed to the guest room earlier, when Victoria Tang and Lexi were in the kitchen, he already met Vincent Tang for the first time. Since the little person was asleep, Louis Lu's early arrival had remained a secret until now.

Still, perhaps it was because he has a low EQ, Louis Lu didn't know what to feel when he met the sleeping little boy that Victoria Tang claimed as his child. He wasn't happy nor was he disgusted with the thought. He just wanted to confirm if he was really his for his peace of mind. Hence, taking advantage of the fact that the child was asleep, he plucked out a strand of hair and sent it to a certain lab he could trust.

"You did what?" In unison, Ethan Lu, Lexi, and even Victoria Tang asked in surprise. With the same slow motion, their eyes widened as all their focus was on Louis Lu. For a moment, they were utterly speechless as they thought their ears were deceiving them.

"You knew?" Adding to her question, Victoria Tang's eyes trembled as her first thoughts were Louis Lu knew about it from the very start. Then, does that mean despite knowing that, he didn't reach out to her or even tried to return all the messages she left in the past? Does that mean he really didn't care?

Granted that Louis Lu mentioned about the DNA test, he never mentioned if he already knows the results or was still waiting. Hence, the little misunderstanding.

"Just today." Blinking once, Louis Lu's shock already passed and now, he could deal with this in a calmer way. "I came earlier and heard everything before the side dish you were cooking was burnt and managed to check Vin to get a sample of his hair. Though, I am confused about why you decided to make this known to me just now after hiding him from me for all of this time." Louis Lu added.

Although the DNA result would be out in two weeks, part of him already accepted that Vincent Tang was probably his. He only needed some confirmation for everyone's peace of mind because no matter what, the truth shall be known first, even if it was painful or something to be happy about.

With that said question, Victoria Tang explained her reason and the condition of Vincent Tang. As they discussed, Lexi silently dragged Ethan Lu away to give the family of three, some space and privacy to talk.
