The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 335 - No Way...

"Oh, but is sugar really good with pizza?" Oddly enough, Lexi didn't mind what he just said and went to her own inquiry while tilting her head to the side. Her slightly drunken state made Louis Lu helplessly sigh. Still, he slid the saucer plate towards her gesturing her to try.

Altering her gaze onto the sugar and the pizza, Lexi copied what he was doing and rolled the pizza and dipped it into the sugar before she took a bite. Louis Lu expected her to show a disgusted expression as his way of revenge for her interruption. But to his dismay, Lexi's front brightened up as if spring bloomed on her chubby front.

"Heavenly…" Was the word that Lexi had for what he had introduced to her. Her gaze sparkled as she raised her eyes on the confused Louis Lu.

"I like it and you~" Although what she said could be understood in many ways, she didn't mean it that way this time as it was a harmless, friendly confession for a food lover like her.

The rest of that night, Lexi and Louis Lu conversed more and she came to know that his company was taking an enormous leap while she told him about her passing an exam to shorten the period of her course. More or less, both soon felt comfortable with each other as Lexi got a little drunker due to her celebratory beverage called beer. However, before they could part ways, Lexi smiled brightly at him.

"You really remind me of someone… just a peculiar version of him."

"Do I?"

"Yes! And meeting you today made me happier because I feel like I get to dine with brother Mo at last!" Lexi's smile grew brighter as she recalled the face of the cold yet gentle Morris Liu, her beloved person at that time. "Do you know him?"

"There's a lot of Mo's in the world, so maybe I do." Sarcasm intended, Louis Lu sipped his glass of juice with a shrug.

"Hehe, you're funny. But since I like you, I'll tell you. Do you know Liu Empire in country X? That Mo." Lexi didn't mind telling him as she was willing to help Louis Lu if he needed help in his business. Yet, he just remained silent upon hearing her last remarks. "Anyways, I can manage to go home. We are still strangers so I don't know if you're a creepy guy or not. But, oh well, it was nice meeting and talking with you." With that said note, Lexi assisted herself up as she weaved her way out of the pizza house and hailed a taxi.

On the other hand, Louis Lu just watched her unstable walk until she was out and looked at her through the transparent glass window until she entered the taxi and it sped away in a second. Shifting his head back to where she sat earlier, he murmured. "What a small world, Liu... Morris."

Slowly, Louis Lu got up from his seat and left a tip before he headed out. Unconsciously, he turned his head to the direction where the taxi she got into sped away. "She's weird… she didn't ask my name." Louis Lu murmured before he hailed a taxi and headed to his own destination.

[Present Time]

As Lexi recalled that fateful night and wondered if that good man made it big in the business industry, as she put down the lipstick she used. "I hope he did," she whispered before heading downstairs as she finished preparing herself to meet Edward Lu at lunch.

Lexi carefully made her way downstairs and when she arrived in the living area, Louis Lu was enjoying a cup of tea while Ethan Lu seemed like he wasn't around— Evelyn Lu as well. Her gaze landed on his cold side profile. Suddenly, her eyes widened as her vague and muddled mind that night years ago seemed to see the man before her had resembled the same man that night.

"No way…" Dumbstruck, Lexi murmured in shock as she watched Louis Lu turned his head to her before he furrowed his brows in confusion.

"No way what?" Hearing her reckless whisper that could be heard in this silent living area, Louis Lu asked using his stern tone as usual.

"Huh?" Blinking numerous times, Lexi realized that her words could be heard by this keen man. She pursed her lips on a thin line as she took in the possibility that he might have forgotten about the fat version of her just as she nearly forgot about him. "Nothing. Where's Ethan?"

"He's outside, I guess." Nonchalantly shrugging his shoulders, Louis Lu resumed sipping the good tea that Ethan Lu boasted about that was made by his future mother-in-law. To his surprise, Lexi didn't go outside and check on his cousin. Instead, she slowly perched on the couch opposite him as she stared at him with an odd look.

Raising his gaze to meet with hers, Louis Lu slightly tilted his head to the side as his expression told her to say what she wanted to say. However, Lexi just wordlessly examined his front. It was not like how she looked at him the very first time he came into Ethan Lu's house nor was it the same drunken stare in the past before that. Therefore, Louis Lu was rather confused about what her reason was behind this thorough gaze.

"You're weird… like the first time." Vaguely stating his thoughts, if Lexi didn't recall, she would probably think that he was referring to the first time they met in this same place. However, that was not the case this time because the more she looked at him, the more the memories from that night got clearer and clearer until the man she thought resembled him soon appeared to be the same person!

"Like the first time…?"

"Mhmm, have you forgotten? You stared, or rather, glared at me the first time you saw me." Arching his brows, Louis Lu explained.

Just then, Ethan Lu appeared in the living area while Evelyn Lu, who was finally dolled up… still wearing Lexi's lent clothes while her face was already decorated and her short hair was properly curled.

"Love, you're done. Lou, you can hitch a ride with us since Lexi and I will be going to the main residence to have lunch with grandpa." Unaware of what was going on with her, Ethan Lu brightly smiled as he announced which made Evelyn Lu jump from joy as she could spend more time with Lexi.
