The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 215 - Baby Clothes!

Meanwhile…

At the Yang Family Mansion, Lillian Yang was preparing a morning tea and breakfast for her family with a light mood. After she prepared everything, she finally had the time to check her emails and anything important on her mobile phone.

The very instant she opened her phone, Ethan Lu's message late last night immediately caught her eye. Although she often exchanged messages with her future son-in-law, Lillian Yang was still giddy to check what Ethan Lu's news was that he had for her.

As she tapped to check the message, Lillian Yang with eyes full of interest read the content of the message that made her eyes slowly widen. It says:

"Good Evening, Mom! I wanted to call but knowing it's late and Mom and Dad were probably asleep, I will leave this message instead.

Mom, Lexi will not be able to go home, she fell asleep. Don't worry, Mom. I got her *angel emoticon* I will drive her home tomorrow *angel emoticon*"

Lillian Yang read the content of the message over and over again. She knew that Lexi went out last night with her new friend Rika and a few colleagues from her recent movie. However, she didn't know that Lexi didn't go home last night and slept at Ethan Lu's place?

Although this wasn't the first time that she would stay a night with him— after the incident happened back on the island— it was shocking that her daughter would willingly stay at Ethan Lu's place.

Just then, Lillian Yang snapped from her stupor as she received an incoming call from Ethan Lu early in the morning. Without a second hesitation, Lillian Yang pressed the green button on her phone which connected her to the line.

"Ethan?" Slightly knitting her brows, Lillian Yang was somehow, seemed she was looking forward to whatever news Ethan Lu had for her.

"Good morning, Mom…" Sounding distressed, Ethan Lu greeted. "Mom, I think Lexi will have to stay in my place because she was having a fever— I don't know why. I called my friend doctor to check on her— he's on his way."

"Ohh…" Instead of panicking, Lillian Yang let out an understanding 'o' sound as if it was… normal. "It's okay, that's normal. I will tell your Dad about it. Don't worry."

"Thanks, Mom *sigh* I wanted to personally drop by but no one else will be here to look after Lexi." Frowning, Ethan Lu felt it was improper to tell them the news over the phone as it was their daughter they are talking about.

Moreover, he told them that he would drive her to the Yang Mansion hence, this sudden fever Lexi was having changed all the plans he had in the first place.

"Thank's it's fine, Ethan. You both are grown-ups so there's no need to worry." As usual, Lillian Yang's tone was motherly and soothing.

She talked to him on the line for a couple more minutes before Ethan Lu excused himself as the doctor that will check on Lexi would arrive at any moment. After she put down her phone, Frederick Yang, already wearing a formal business suit arrived in the dining area.

Seeing the expression of his wife while holding her phone under her chin, his brows furrowed. He was well-versed with his wife, thus, Frederick Yang inferred that Lillian Yang was pondering some serious matters.

"Dear, what are you thinking about with such an expression? Also, what time did Lexi come home last night?" As Frederick Yang slowly perched on the head seat, he scanned the healthy dishes that his wife prepared.

"She didn't." Upon hearing the voice of her husband, Lillian Yang snapped from her trance and turned to see her husband. Striding towards him, she helped serve him with dishes and tea.

"She didn't? Where did she spent the night then?" Knitting his brows even more, Frederick Yang probed further. He wasn't mad or anything of the sort as he trusted Lexi and she did move out once to figure out her life. Therefore, going home is not his main concern but where did she stay and with whom?

"Dear, I think we should visit the temple and ask for a blessing." Looking at her husband with eyes full of resolve, Lillian Yang declared which tossed her husband into confusion.

"Huh?"

"Our daughter spent the night at Ethan's place and now she's running a fever." In a knowing tone, Lillian Yang raised her brows as she let her husband absorb her news.

When her words were properly processed, slowly, Frederick Yang raised his gaze to meet the 'you know what I'm saying' expression plastered across his wife's face.

After a beat, both Yang parents excitedly uttered a word in unison. "Baby clothes!"

*****

When Lillian Yang hang up the call, Ethan Lu let out another heavy sigh. When Lexi told him she felt a little sick, he thought she was just trying to be cute which was truly effective even without her trying.

However, after thirty minutes of snuggling under the sheets with her still unclad body and him without a shirt, Ethan Lu felt that Lexi's body temperature abnormally rose up to a higher than the normal temperature that alarmed and instantly woke him up.

Upon seeing her flushed face and sweating forehead, Ethan Lu panicked as he didn't know what to do for a moment before he decided to call his assistant to send his trusted doctor to his home— which was executed immediately.

He then lowered the air conditioner temperature and wiped Lexi who was sweating as if she was inside a sauna. After wiping her down and slightly cooling her body heat, Ethan Lu went out from his room, then went to the kitchen to get her something to drink. As he does so, he was reminded to contact the Yang parents with the situation.

"You just indirectly told them that something happened between you two last night." Leaning his side on the jamb of the kitchen entrance, Louis Lu indifferently commented with a mug of coffee in his hand.

"Huh?" Snapping from his stupor, Ethan Lu furrowed his brows as his gaze landed to his languid cousin who was wearing a casual sweater and pants.

"They say women often experience a fever after their first night— so you practically told her parents that you slept with their daughter." Louis Lu clarified which made Ethan Lu's eyes dilated and a shocked countenance took over his whole front.

Seeing his reaction, Louis Lu's eyes briefly darkened before it went back to normal. "It will pass after a day or two— try not to touch her within those days." He uttered before Louis Lu stood straight and left his distraught cousin, Ethan Lu standing there to contemplate over the situation.

Since his cousin's statement about indirectly admitting to the Yang parents that he touched their daughter, Ethan Lu didn't notice the slight change on Louis Lu's front.

"It's normal... mom said..." He murmured as he finally realized Lillian Yang's seemingly knowing word facade as comforting ones.

"What should I do…?" He murmured as Ethan Lu didn't know how to face her parents. Although he wasn't ashamed of sleeping with Lexi, alas, premarital sex— would her parents be that understanding? Would they see him as an opportunist? What if they treated him differently in the coming days?

These thoughts hovered in his mind that made his mind a little more restless than it already was. Surely, the thought of her parents being hostile towards him never struck his mind last night before submitting to his inner desires.
