The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 178 - Ethan As Chang'e's White Rabbit

As the whole group launched their attack, Xue Yingyue, and Long Yutao was more worried at Chang'e. Despite whatever trick she did to defeat a whole unit of their enemies, they could not help but be uneased. After all, this was their fight and they could not let an innocent person be involved.

"Chang'e!" Xue Yingyue shouted before dodging a bullet that was fired at her and blocked the sword that next assaulted her.

"That wom—" Long Yutao was unable to finish his sentence as he was attacked as well. In his mind, he needed to talk with this woman after disappearing without a word. Although he must not care about her as they only knew each other for a brief moment, alas, she still hadn't clarified her last statement before she disappeared without a trace.

Regardless of their establishing anxiety, both were unable to do anything to help her in an instant. Just then, the group that was attacking Chang'e was pushed back by a strong wind before they flew in every direction.

This halted the enemies from besieging Xue Yingyue and Long Yutao as they were briefly distracted by another landslide winning from the woman. Taking up this chance, Xue Yingyue and Long Yutao went on offense mode and defeated the enemies surrounding them— reducing the enemies half their numbers.

"You! Get that woman first! I will capture Xue Yingyue myse—" Even before the man could finish his sentence, Chang'e appeared in front of him and swiftly held him by the neck. Even though the man was obviously bigger in size, Chang'e lifted him up without exerting any effort.

"Who will you kill?" She scorned and after a second, she snapped the man's neck before he could even answer her. Her action sent fear to the enemy as the man she just killed was the strongest among them. Hence, their morale was also crushed. On the other hand, Xue Yingyue and Long Yutao gaped their eyes in disbelief.

Unaware of the impact she had caused them, Chang'e raised her hand and without further ado, she slashed the air and sent the remaining enemies flying. It all happened in a fraction of five seconds that everyone could not grasp what occurred.

The last thing they knew was a woman who shone as bright as the moon in the night staring emotionlessly at them before their vision went black.

Scanning the area with tons of unconscious body on the ground, Chang'e heaved a sigh of relief. She then strode towards Xue Yingyue and Long Yutao who were staring at her in a daze.

"It's been a while," Chang'e greeted with a smile— unaware of the shock she had caused the two.

"You... " Long Yutao murmured in disbelief.

"Me?" Tilting her head on the side, Chang'e repeated in confusion.

"Thank God, you were fine!" Suddenly, Xue Yingyue jumped in and hugged her in relieve. After her last encounter with Chang'e, just like with Long Yutao, she went on her own way without a word. Hence, she was relieved to know that she was fine and still looking for her husband.

"I knew this was gonna happen…" Out of nowhere, a man's voice was heard followed by a loud resonating bang.

The time seemed to slow down as Long Yutao and Xue Yingyue watched Chang'e who suddenly appeared in front of Long Yutao. Both of them didn't know where the bullet went until Chang'e turned her back against them to face the man whose face hid in the darkness.

"Scram!" Even without raising her hand, a harsh strong wind stormed towards the man which he dodged by the skin of his teeth.

"Tch," The man grinded his teeth before he retreated and disappear into the shadows.

Chang'e watched the man retreat but due to the striking pain she inflicted, Chang'e didn't come after him. The next second, she felt that she started to weaken as the strength of her knees gradually deteriorate until they gave way.

"Chang'e!" The first to react was Xue Yingyue but the first person to rush to her was Long Yutao.

"Hey!" Catching before she tumbles down, Long Yutao panicked. His hand that was supporting her back was tainted by a thick crimson red liquid that made him slightly tremble.

Shaking her lightly, he looked at her now pale face that was slowly draining with life force. "Hey, don't you die on me!"

By this time, Xue Yingyue already called for reinforcement and help from their headquarters. However, seeing how fast the blood that was coming out from Chang'e, she instantly asked Long Yutao to give pressure on her wound.

"Hou Yi…" Chang'e slowly blinked as her eyes landed on Long Yutao's panicking semblance. For some reason, she was seeing her husband as he was yelling yet, she could not hear his words clearly.

Although she was a deity, Chang'e had lingered longer in this world. Hence, her body began to become mortal. Furthermore, she was shot in a vital part that would instantly kill a normal human.

"I'm so glad I found you…" She murmured as Chang'e used her remaining strength to reach Long Yutao's face, but before she could do so, her energy fell short which made her hand slowly collapse.

Long Yutao choked as he caught her falling hand. Tears started to form on the corner of his eyes as he stared down at her drained profile. He didn't know why, but his heart seemed like it was being clenched by someone. He didn't have any deep emotion with this woman, however, his heart seemed he knew her for a long time.

Tightening his grasp on her hand, Long Yutao hung his head low while clenching his teeth. His heart was experiencing unimaginable pain. It was as if he was losing someone important to him.

"Hey… you haven't found your husband. I… I'm not Hou Yi, hey wake up…"

Suddenly, a light glowed on Chang'e side. Both Xue Yingyue and Long Yutao's attention were caught as they looked at the light that was growing bigger by the second.

Soon, all Long Yutao and Xue Yingyue could do was squint their eyes as the light suddenly flashed at their eyes making them completely shut their eyes.

There, Chang'e's white rabbit turned into a beautiful man in a white as snow ancient clothing. The man's pained gaze was fixed on her pale complexion that made his brows slightly creased.

Squatting down, he slowly got her out from Long Yutao's embrace as he carried her in his arms. When Long Yutao felt her weight lightened, he opened his eyes.

As his eyes recovered from the blinding light earlier, a man was already carrying Chang'e in his embrace and without a word, he turned his back against them and started walking.

Long Yutao and Xue Yingyue were rendered speechless with the man that suddenly appeared out of nowhere and immediately disappeared with Chang'e.

Ethan Lu as her rabbit that transformed into his human form carried her in some unknown high mountain where the light of the moon directly shone on them.

"Chang'e…" His voice was filled with nothing but pain. He had been her companion all these years, yet, Chang'e's love towards Hou Yi was infinite that she even descended from her palace just to look for him.

Ethan Lu softly traced her temple down to her chin using the tip of his fingers. She was dying… her life force was being drained faster than it should. Still, the man didn't do anything magical.

He just held her into his embrace as he began singing in a soft, low tone;

"Believe in my unwavering sincerity

A thousand years of wait, you have my promise

No matter how much winter has passed

I will never let you go~" As he sang, white, small lights particles emanated from the man as his energy slowly transferred to her.

"Believe me, I chose to wait

No matter how tough it is, there is no hiding

Only your gentleness can save me from

The eternal coldness~" The man continued to sing as he held her as if she was the warmest place he could ever be. Despite the fact that his life was being reduced, he was glad that her complexion started to become better again. He could feel that her life force was slowly coming back.

"Love is the only beautiful legend that never changes in our hearts…" Upon finishing the song, the beautiful man slowly turned back to being a white rabbit as Chang'e's complexion turned back to normal. The wound on her back disappeared without a trace and she continued to sleep in peace.

None wouldn't understand what kind of love the rabbit has for Chang'e but one thing was for sure— he sincerely valued his companion's life more than his own.

"Cuuut!" Snapping to reality, Arnold Shen shouted over the microphone with absolute satisfaction.
