The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 125 - From Wanting To Kiss You

Ethan vacantly stared at her unwavering gaze. He blinked numerous times as he tried to have a full comprehension of what she said.

'Did -- did I hear her right?' For a moment, Ethan's mind went blank and only her words kept ringing in his head. His eyes traveled across her beautiful facial features with inexplicable emotions circling inside his heart.

"But, let me get this straight. Right now, I don't like you… well, what I meant is that I only like you as a friend. So, don't ever think that this will gonna be easy. I swear to God Ethan Lu…" Lexi cleared her throat and started prattling about her conditions and warnings. However, Ethan Lu could hardly focus on her words albeit got the gist of it.

Arching her brows, Lexi crossed her arms around her upper abdomen. She instigated, "...are you listening?"

"Uh, yeah." Ethan Lu vigorously nodded yet, by the looks of it, his mind was still wandering somewhere else.

"Yeah? Doesn't seem like it." Lexi slightly shook her head and rolled her eyes.

"Uh, sorry. I am trying to distract myself." Snapping from his stupor, Ethan Lu grinned that showed his even white teeth as if he finally figured it out Lexi's words.

"Distract yourself? From?" Knitting her brows in confusion, Lexi probed as she was somewhat intrigued by how chaotic his mind right now.

"From wanting to kiss you." Without batting an eye, Ethan Lu shamelessly declared that made her let out a series of light coughs.

"Do you really have to say that?" After some time, Lexi glared at his smiling and innocent countenance. He already told her everything, hence, couldn't he have a short break from his romantic advances?

"Of course! This guy needs to work hard for his future wife. I can't waste a chance to flirt with you." Slightly tilting his head to the side, Ethan Lu winked as his expression marginally brightened.

Unlike his distress aura earlier, Lexi's response gave him a sliver of hope. God knows how happy he was right now. After his stay on the temple, Ethan Lu not only decided to date Lexi but also, had the intention of marrying her.

In his perspective, he could not bear these emotions towards others. Therefore, Ethan was earnest to pursue his love interest.

While Lexi was looking at him with a little bit of disdain, Ethan chuckled as he somehow guessed what she was thinking. He glanced over at her behind and nodded seeing one of the staff entered the second floor of the establishment.

The young staff was carrying two bouquets of flowers which he placed on the table beside them. Without a word, he courtly bowed his head and left the two VIP guests.

"Great!" Ethan Lu clasped his hand together as he walked towards the two different bouquets of flowers. He meekly smiled as he picked the two sets of flowers. On the other hand, Lexi followed his figure and altered her gaze on Ethan and the two bouquets of flowers in his hand.

One of the flowers was a pink blush bouquet of alstroemeria that was gorgeous and impressive. While the other one is a colorful arrangement of white and red roses that was shaped into a heart.

"Here you go, this pink one is from your friend Ethan while the other one is from suitor Ethan." Offering them with a smile, Ethan Lu smiled widely.

Fortunately, he had prepared himself that whether she rejects him or not, he'll never change his mind and will continue being her friend and her suitor. After all, Ethan Lu didn't want to waste the friendship they had, hence, he wanted to clear this between them.

"For the meantime, if you needed a friend -- even if it seems impossible knowing that I have a hidden agenda, I can still be one alright?" Ethan reassured.

Lexi slowly nodded as she was entirely speechless seeing the flowers he had prepared beforehand.

"I can't believe you turned one of your cars to look like a taxi…" Lexi mumbled as she shook her head in disbelief.

Earlier, when Lexi excused herself from him, Ethan insisted on sending her off. However, since Lexi didn't want to get unnecessary attention as anything could happen if she wasn't careful enough, Lexi refused.

Who would have thought that Ethan had prepared a car that looked like a taxi on the surface with a superb interior? Surely, this isn't just any ordinary taxi as it is a luxury car in a taxi disguise.

"Well, I have to get you off my mind at some point but I didn't know how -- so, yeah this happened." Ethan quickly glanced at Lexi before fixing his gaze on the road with a subtle smile.

"Uhh, can you postpone and maybe start your romantic advances next time?" Lexi's finger curled every time Ethan opened his mouth. It's not that she disliked or liked it, it's just that she wasn't used to it.

"Romantic advances? I am just being honest love." Ethan shrugged nonchalantly as a smug grin form on the side of his lips when he muttered his last address.

"Whatever," Sighing in defeat, Lexi leaned her back against the comfortable front passenger seat. Soon, her eyes turned weary as her body suddenly felt drained. Without knowing it, Lexi fell asleep just like that.

"To be fair, your confession wasn't that bad Mr. Main task… hmmm, don't you disappoint her~!" Churu who sat at the top of the steering wheel commented after looking at Lexi's sleeping figure. She added,

"See? She let her guard down around you so don't betray her alright~?"

Ethan glanced at Lexi and let out a faint chuckle. Slowly, he pulled over to the side and took off his jacket. He then put it on top of her and looked at her with satisfaction.

His hand raised and tucked several strands of hair behind her ear. "I'm sorry… and thank you,"

He pursed his lips and gulped a mouthful of saliva before he retracted his head away from her while ruffling his hair. Turning his head back on her, Ethan heavily sighed, "Aish, why do you always test my self-control?"
