The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 109 - Oh... So, This Is Love?

After seeing her short message, Ethan grinned feeling proud of his girl. He already knew that the role was already hers when he drove her to the location and how she weirdly held her phone with great importance.

Surely, his ambiguous thoughts earlier vanished into thin air as if he never had such thought. How could he let this girl go? Whatever the outcome of hanging out with her, or even if he admits that he fell head over heels to Lexi, Ethan Lu couldn't turn his back against her.

Biting his lower lips, Ethan didn't compose a reply and directly called her. After one ring, surprisingly, it was immediately answered unlike his other phone call whenever he makes a call. This, of course, sent waves of satisfying emotions inside his heart.

Lexi: "Hey," When the line connected, Ethan's heart nearly melt hearing her gentle and restrained happiness. Of course, with his ever-reliable radar, he instantly detected the indiscernible emotion behind Lexi's tone.

Surely, Ethan was alert that everything about Lexi. He wasn't forcing it, but, it's was programmed at the back of his mind to take notice with every little detail she showed.

"Hehe, how was it?" Ignoring the disdainful looked from Chris Yu, Ethan indulged himself with the phonecall as he anticipates Lexi's response with a full, blooming smile.

Lexi: "hmm, it was fine… lucky."

"Just lucky? Doubt that. Well, I expected it after all. So, what are your plans?" Slightly creasing his brows because Ethan Lu highly doubts that she just got lucky, he honestly responded before inquiring what she'd do since she got the role.

"Nothing in particular… well, we could grab a drink I guess,"

The moment Ethan heard her last remarks, his eyes widened as the trauma from the last time Lexi got drunk resurfaced. Hence, without a seconds hesitation, he strongly refused.

"No, no, no, no! No drinking!" He unintentionally raised his voice which startled Chris Yu who was preoccupied with his phone. Glaring daggers at Ethan's panicked expression, he clicked his tongue before he wordlessly turned his attention back on his phone.

"Haha, kidding. Well, I don't have any plans as I need to prepare myself before the filming starts." Chuckling on the line, Lexi uttered after hearing Ethan's panic-stricken response. She was just teasing him and Lexi wouldn't dig a hole for herself anymore. After all, the last time she celebrated something with him which led her to kiss him on the nose! God knows what would happen next if she got drunk again.

"Don't joke like that -- it almost gave me a heart attack." Sighing in relief, Ethan lightly patted his chest when she explained. He resumed,

"Where are you now? Want me to fetch you?"

"Ah, no. I'm with my manager and we'll discuss some things. Oh, we're home -- I'll hang up first." On the line, Lexi excused herself which Ethan agreed despite wanting to talk to her a little longer.

"Alright, see you tomorrow." With a dejected tone, Ethan bid his farewell.

Lexi: "yeah,"

Even after the line was cut off, Ethan Lu didn't put down his phone immediately. At this time, he wanted to fly to the Yang mansion and congratulate her personally as he wanted to share her happiness with him. Or whatever reason, he wanted to be there.

"Tsk tsk tsk, look at that… just look at him!" Chris Yu mocked as he focused his phone to Ethan's direction. In the screen, Kevin Woo, Elliot Gong were on a video call and the moment they saw Ethan's dejected expression, they laughed out loud.

Kevin Woo: "Omo -- is he lovesick? Pfft-! That was gold! HAHA…!"

Elliot Gong: "What a sight to see, pfft-! It was worthy to delay my schedule." In between their peals of laughter, both of Ethan's' friends spouted their ridiculing remarks which surprisingly made little reaction from Ethan.

"Aiya, this guy is hopeless -- he should be cast out, tsk tsk." Moving his phone camera from Ethan Lu, Chris Yu clicked his tongue as he slightly shook his head.

"Ha ha ha, laugh all you want mofos -- Hey, Chris, do you think I really fell for her? It's just that, I always believed in her and this feeling that she achieved something, I feel really happy like I'm in a cloud nine for her. Also, I wanted to rush to her side and buy a whole mall as a congratulatory gift -- is this infatuation or love?" Ignoring the irrelevant comments from his other friends on the video call, Ethan fixed his eyes on Chris Yu who's brows and lips twitched by Ethan's persistence.

On the other hand, Kevin Woo and Elliot Gong almost puked blood being ignored by Ethan. What more? He shamelessly uttered his cheesy feelings that the three thought they would never hear from their lifetime.

Kevin Woo: "What the fvck? We came here for this?"

Elliot Gong: "Well, this is not fun worthy now."

"Uhhh," Chris Yu blinked his eyes numerous times as he stared at the eagerness that flashed across his eyes. He resumed after a pause, "Yeah, I guess?"

"Oh… so this is love?" Nodding in understanding, Ethan didn't bore any expression as if he would soon have a mental breakdown.
