The Male Lead’s Villainess Stepmother

Chapter 62 - Bad Decision (1)

Chapter 62 – Bad Decision (1)

As Yan Shuyu hadn’t run away fast enough, she now had no choice but to have an awkward conversation with the boss on the side of the road. With an awkward but polite smile, she said, “Oh hi, Boss Zhou. What a coincidence!”

She couldn’t tell whether it was because of the car door between them or that she was overthinking it, Yan Shuyu felt that the Zhou Qinhe today was a little different than the one she was used to. His smile was light and gave people a more honorable, reserved, and standoffish feeling. All in all, he exuded a unique presence and style, which matched quite well with what Yan Shuyu’s impression of what men of his status were like.

So when the boss gave her a glance, she froze immediately and stood in the spot obediently.

Even though Zhou Qinhe looked more standoffish than usual, he was still very polite. An ordinary person who ran into an acquaintance while riding in a car probably wouldn’t even have pulled over. Even if they took the time to politely greet them, at the most they’d exchange some pleasantries before taking off.

Zhou Qinhe, a man who easily controlled the ups and downs of transactions well over several millions every minute, seemed unusually leisurely and continued to chitchat with Yan Shuyu, “I was here for business, what about you?”

She really didn’t want to know why the boss was here at all, okay? =.=

Yan Shuyu was a bit baffled, but she still waved her shopping bags in her hands and said, “I am here to shop.”

Zhou Qinhe glanced over at the obviously common and cheap plastic bags in her hands for a second or two and said, “By yourself?”

Yan Shuyu, “….”

Why was everyone attacking her today? She couldn’t be happily single if she was gorgeous looking? What a jerk! She couldn’t help herself even if he was the boss man. Displeased, she stressed, “I came with a friend, but we split up after we were done shopping.”

“I see,” smiled Zhou Qinhe casually. “Where do you plan on going next then?”

He seemed so casual that it actually made Yan Shuyu felt silly to have reacted the way that she did. Feeling a bit defeated, she said, “I am heading to the mall.”

“I thought you were done with shopping?”

“Can’t I go watch a movie?” Yan Shuyu rolled her eyes. She was beginning to lose her temper over this seemingly unending chitchat.

She only remembered that it was the boss man that she was talking to after she finished saying that. Did she just rolled her eyes at the boss man?

Her knees began to buckle, giving her away.

Zhou Qinhe, on the other hand, was as friendly as usual. Not only was he not bothered by Yan Shuyu’s rudeness, he chuckled. And his chuckle melted away her embarrassment. Then, in an almost doting tone, he said, “Hop on in! I will drop you off on my way!”

Yan Shuyu didn’t have time to digest the meaning behind the boss man’s chuckle, nor did she have the time to wonder how would the boss man possibly know that the mall was on his way without her telling him which mall she was heading toward. She was a little dumbfounded as the boss rolled the car window back up after he was done talking and the interior of the car was blurry all over again. At the same time, the passenger side door opened up and an elite man in full suit came out and personally opened the car door for her as he gestured, “Please, Miss Yan.”

She looked inside the car and noticed that the boss man, who were just sitting by the window and chitchatting with her, had already shifted to the other side. The boss man, switching to the other side just for her! To what did she owe that pleasure?!

Yan Shuyu was teary by now. No, it wasn’t because she was touched. She was too mortified to even move and suspected that all the bystanders on the street were looking at her right now. Still, she bravely said, “No, that is alright. I can’t possibly….”

Zhou Qinhe may seem gentle, refined, and not stuck up, but as someone who was so high in status that everybody around him was always bowing to, his patience was very limited. He no longer wanted to say another word, but casted her an odd and indifferent glance.

Yan Shuyu dared not hesitate any longer and quickly and smoothly climbed into the car. She realized now why the boss man wore his smiley mask day in and day out – as handsome as he was, he was terrifying when he wasn’t smiling. *sniffle*
