“Sen! Edreale! Don’t get too far from me!” Shouted Alfred to the nervous Sen and Edreale. Sen and Edreale nods, confirming to understand his instruction.
The fire dissipates, and the 25 demons started to get visible again. Their sharp claws, terrifying figures, ugly faces, and sharp teeth clearly visible to Sen, Alfred, Edreale, Albus, and Peter. The demons had a big head but no eyes could be seen, they walk in all fours and growls like a beast.
Different from Oz who already faced numerous demons before, Sen, Alfred, Edreale, Albus, and Peter who never saw a demon before, they only knew a demon from the tales and the history book.
The five of them grip their weapon strongly to remove their fear, and nervously wait for the demons to attack. 24 demons are circling them, the biggest one of them that seems to be their leader roared as if to command them to march.
“They’re coming! Prepare yourselves!” (Alfred)
“Fire Blast!” (Albus)
Albus’s fire blast managed to blast one of the demons. But he’s unsatisfied with the result. Albus clicked his tongue.
“Tsk! That spell was supposed to blast at least 4 of them!” (Albus)
“Focus, Albus!” Alfred reminded him.
The demons charged in a well-organized formation, while Alfred and co’s formation are still disorganized. No one of them had the initiated of giving orders because they’re not that close enough.
The demons charged and each one of them had to at least fight four of them simultaneously. Even though all of them are in the sword saint rank and the demons are only at the Count rank, the demons still got the upper hand from their powerful brute strength.
Alfred and Edreale could barely face them by using their agility as they only use knives, but Sen, Peter, that uses sword and Albus who is a magician couldn’t help but suffer some hit from being attacked by multiple demons.
“Ugh!” Sen got clawed by one of the demons.
(Shit! If this goes on, we’ll all die!) (Alfred)
Edreale got distracted by Sen’s groan and made her unnoticed the demon behind her that already prepared to strike her with its claws.
“Edrea-” (Alfred)
Before Alfred could shout, a pair of cards cut three of the demons beside Edreale, one of them dies, but the other two only lose one of their limbs. Alfred looks to the source where the cards are thrown from, and his face lighten up
“Ren!” (Alfred)
Oz didn’t respond to Alfred’s call, he only prepared his staff and chanted: “Holy Light”
A spell from the basics of magics card, the basic magic from the light spells, [Holy Light]. A holy light that radiates light from heavens.
A dazzling light shone from Oz’s staff, but even though the demons didn’t have any eyes, they retreated to some distance from Alfred and co.
“Ren! Are you oka-” Before Edreale finishes her sentence, he saw Oz’s figure, his legs, his arms, his chest, and his body are filled with wounds.
“Are you okay Ren? Don’t force yourself!” Edreale said with an unusual worried face.
“It does not matter right now, I’ll explain to you later. Let’s form a formation first, Albus and I will be the rear guard, Alfred and Edreale will be on the middle, Sen and Peter will be the vanguard,” (Oz)
“Sen! Peter! Just slash one of the limbs of the demons, and let Alfred and Edreale finish them off. Immediately focus to the next opponent after slashing one, Albus and I will protect all of you!” (Oz)
“Albus, use a single target spell, avoid using an area type one to avoid hitting our comrades! Do all of you understands!?” (Oz)

The instructions Oz gave felt natural to all of them, they followed it without any hard feelings for an unknown reason. Oz instantly became the leader of the group, and all of them listens to his commands. All of them immediately went to their position.
(Good, even though I couldn’t muster any qi. My mana and the magic cards still work, we need to finish this quickly before I lost my consciousness!) (Oz)
Oz’s sight is a bit hazy and blur, but he can’t let his friends and himself got killed here, there are still a lot of things he wants to see and he wants to protect. He can’t give up in front of some demons, because he is the legendary magician! He won’t let himself give up!

When the demons started to get closer, Oz shouted.
“Albus! Now!” (Oz)
Albus chanted the spell chantation and finally said: “Fire bullet!”
Following Albus’s words, a compressed fire bullet appears in front of him and pierce one of the demons in an instant. The demons slowed down their pace a moment when they saw one of their brethren got attacked by the fire bullet, but they immediately dashed even faster after it, as if they’re going to avenge their brother.

Oz gathers his mana at his staff and chanted: “Ice curse,” in a small voice.
The demons suddenly got enveloped by dense blue mana, and their movement started to slow down.
“Ice curse!?” Peter exclaimed in surprise. Oz is quite interested in how he could know so much about the spell he used, but the battle in front of him is far more important.
“Ren! Are you sure we could survive this!?” Asked Alfred with an unusually serious expression.
“We will. Trust me,” Answered Oz with his usual confident smirk.
The demons had arrived at Sen’s and Peter’s range of attack, and the battle begins. Sen and Peter follow Oz’s instructions and slice the demon’s limbs and immediately prepare for the next demons.
Because of Oz’s ice curse, the plan became more efficient. Alfred and Edreale skillfully kill every demon that lost their limbs, Albus and Oz defend Sen and Peter every time the demon almost caught them off guard.
After they killed for about 10 of the demons, the biggest demon that seems to be the leader finally jumped to Sen and caught Sen off guarded. The other demons pattern of attack also changed and they charged at Sen at the same time. But before it could land its attack on Sen.

Oz’s smirked and chant: “Shadow Bind”
All of the demons’ shadows got merged because of them charging at Sen together, making Oz use the shadow bind that binds all of their movement.
“Now! Attack all of them!” Oz shouted.
All of them immediately attacked the demons and slaughtered them. The stinky smell of demon’s blood could be smelled everywhere.
“Phew! That’s a new experience…” Muttered Alfred with a wry smile.
“Yea, we made a quite good team, huh?” (Albus)
Crash!
Suddenly the sound of something fell stole everyone’s attention. But it turns out that the hero that saved them is the one who fell, or rather, fainted.

Oz opened his eyes and immediately stands and took a fighting stance. Alfred, Sen, Edreale, Albus, and Peter gazes at Oz with a strange gaze.

“Ouch!” (Oz)
Oz cries because of a terrifying pain that he felt from all over his body, Oz observes his body and saw that almost whole of his body got covered by bandages.
“You can’t move suddenly like that, Ren! Your body is full of scars! The scars will open again if you suddenly move like that!” Edreale lectured Oz.
“Y-yes,” Oz obediently followed her orders and sit back.
Oz tries to remember what happened while closing his eyes.
(After I got beaten up by that fu*&%$# demon emperor, I manage to come back to my real body but my qi is blocked and I couldn’t muster even a tiny bit from it. And then I back up these guys to face the demons that ganged up against us, and then….) (Oz)
“I fainted, huh,” Oz said with a wry smile.
“Yup! You did!” Alfred said as he stands and approaches Oz.
“You fainted, and we’re still left in the dark about what just happened, now explain to us, you owe us that,” Alfred said with an annoyed face.
“And tell us about the black tattoo at your right arm,” Albus continued.
“Tattoo?” (Oz)
Oz checked his right arm, and he saw that there is a black wing tattoo imprinted on his skin.
“W-what the hell!?” (Oz)
“That’s a curse, a terrifying curse. I never saw one before, but just by the terrifying amount of demonic and malicious aura it emits, I could already know that it’s a curse by a terrifying being,” Said Albus with a serious face.
“Tell us, Ren. Who did this to you,” Asked Sen.
Oz sighs.
“I doubt that you’ll believe what I said,” Said Oz with a shrug.
“Don’t give us that shit, Ren! You’ve reminded us about the demons that surrounded us and makes us avoid death. And it’s DEMONS we’re talking here, they should be extinct!” Edreale said with an unusually long and emotional sentence.
“Fine, fine, I’ll tell you all. But it’s up to you whether you’ll believe me or not,” (Oz)
Albus, Alfred, Sen, Edreale, and the silent Peter approach Oz and focuses as they want to hear Oz’s story.
“Alfred, Sen, Edreale, the three of you knew that I cultivate energy different from mana cultivation right?” (Oz)
