The Kidnapped Bride

Chapter 58 - Her Importance In His Life

Javier didn't feel the old heartbreak like he used to whenever his father yelled at him. Over time, there was a significant change in his heart and behavior, which made him understand better that his father was of the same nature and habits. It has been the same for years.

No one can manage to make him calm down, not even his current wife. His brother patted his back to look behind at their father whose face was red in fury.

"Lie? What have I lied to you about? Please get me to apprise of it." He asked his father straightforwardly without showing any mercy to it.

His father was furious to learn that his son dared to not only lie but question back his question which frustrated him to the next level.

"Breaking rules is never counted as a blessing, JAVIER JOHNSON!! I asked you straightforwardly to bring the bride back to our states at first but you never listened to my words and advice. You insisted on bringing her to that abandoned island of yours but what happened? In the end, you are only attacked by the killers!!"

His father shouted, putting his heart out. Both Javier and Charles were feeling the drop in the temperate with each word he spoke

Something like this wasn't new to him yet Javier landed himself in this position. Not because he wished to but in the end, the safest place for Jennifer was his own state.

Moreover, how can he so easily forget that if he steps into this state he will have to face the entire family who will definitely question his decisions?

"You are the right dad." Javier didn't bulge out from the accusation. "I lied to you many times but you are wrong. Sometimes.. lying does count as a blessing." His eyes were straightly staring into his father's eyes without blinking.

The prominent eye contact between the two males was even worse to break. Charles noticed the fury on his father's face and at the same time, he noted the confidence and self-respect on Javier. In the end, he doesn't know who to interrupt and whom to ask to back off.

The situation was much messier in his accordance and if he tried to speak, it was sure that everyone would just start yelling at his face.

"Javier, I never expected you to go to such lengths for a mere girl. She is Lucas's bride! We have to torture her to death so that Lucas can be afraid!"

Javier's eyes which were earlier cold now turned chillier. It was evident that he didn't like his words and couldn't agree with them anymore. "If someone tries to even touch Jennife I will make sure that the man's hands are broken."

Charles was startled after seeing too much protectiveness in his brother's nature. "Javier but it was the plan.. she was supposed to be.."

Javier turned around to face his brother and blinked twice, to indicate, "We will talk about this in private brother."

"PRIVATE? Is there something now that needs to be discussed in private as well?" Shawn took a step ahead and walked near Javier when they came face to face. Their eyes were breaching in anger and no one could expect what the next step might be.

"You are testing my last piece of patience." Shawn said to which Javier simply replied, "And you are testing my limit of loved ones."

The words echoed in the whole hall and Charles was now even more tensed. Meanwhile, Shirley came from behind and kept her hand on Shawn's shoulders to look at Javier with her narrowed eyes. "This isn't the way to talk with your father."

A smirk curved on Javier's face when he looked at Shirley, "So, now an outsider will tell me how shall I converse with my father? I didn't know. Maybe because I only consider my brother as the real family, not you."

The sarcasm was hidden which wasn't appreciated by any. Not even Shawn was able to relax at his son's rude tone. "This lady is your mother!"

At this time not only Charles but Javier, both of their hands were converted into fists, "Your memory is fading I believe dad. This lady is the second mistress of the house and.. to me and my brother she is nobody. Might be your second wife but don't include us."

Javier didn't bulge out from speaking whatever resided in his mind. He wasn't always rude to his father but whatsoever that occurred in the past, shaped him in such a manner. All his points of view were the result of his past and the tactics of his own father. Shawn Johnson played a major role in shaping who soever he is today.

Nerves popped out of Shawn's hand when he witnessed his son was consecutively questioned his orders. "You forgot your position?"

"Never. I can never forget my own spot. But I just reminded her, her own status in this house, nothing more." Javier passed them sleepy and sneaky smiled when he continued.

"As well I'm here to talk related to Jennifer, not to fight on useless stuff if you are at least interested to hear out."

Everyone was curious to know what he had to say anymore which they were hoping to hear. No one expected that Javier will turn to the states so soon since he was the one who insister to keep Jennifer off the place to keep her safe from everyone.

Until now.. things changed, so did his plan and techniques.

Javier took a deep breath and his eyes became black again, "I'm back here for a while. Along with me are, Ellen, Ryan, and Jennifer. I came here to show my face to you guys, but my stay will be at my own apartment, not here."

No one looked utterly shocked but somehow they were able to understand the reason behind his actions. In the end, Shawn had his suspiciousness and now they grew even more.

"So.." Shawn's eyes look at him with a mist in them, "You didn't let my people take the hostage and now you wish to keep in your apartment."

"What exactly do you have for her? Who is she except being the hostage and.. Lucas's bride?"
