The Kidnapped Bride

Chapter 417 - Forgotten?!

A few days passed and Max had constantly given Veronica a call once a day. He told her about how his father was interested in handling the work, which made her cautious. However, his next reply that he will soon talk with his father, at least put her calm for then.

However, time passed and it grew much. For her, it was impossible to live alone without him. Not only that, in fact, Jack was also asking for his father now or then. The calls had decreased, with the two-three calls a week.

Time passed and she was also engaged in her work, yet it never mattered to her since her partner wasn't with her. What gave her more fear was the intuition that resided inside her heart. It was hard to dig it out but she had controlled it for their son.

Yet, things changed when she felt a communication gap between them. Till now, it has been almost two weeks since she hasn't received any call from his side.

It was growing her anxiety, and whenever she tried to make a call, it was always unreachable to him. While standing on her bedroom balcony, her eyes looked at the sky above, where she saw the stars.

But it didn't give her the same flowers as before. Max and she, both of them, used to gaze at the sky with the most hope in their future. But not anymore, since she was also losing her patience. She was getting out of her hand to control herself.

"Was I really cheated with his love and lies....?" Veronica found it hard to accept. Subconsciously, she rotated her head and looked inside her bedroom, finding Jack still sleeping in her bed tonight.

He was missing Max too much for today, so she finally coaxed him to sleep. But who will make her heart calm down? The person who holds the strength is already nowhere.

At this thought, her lips were pursed into the thin line, before she brought her phone in her hand to dial her father who immediately answered, "V, have you not slept yet?"

"D-dad...did you get any information about Max? Any news?" She asked with worriedness, in return, to get a negative response, "I'm trying Veronica. He is out of the country, I can't have my contacts work there, there is a limit.."

"But it has been two weeks! He hasn't even called me for so long..." She grew anxious and it was taking a toll on her mind. She had no idea how long she could survive the am but her willingness was breaking as well.

It was reaching up to his peak to break. All she held right now was for her son, who was also missing his father too much. How come Max just departed and they have nothing to rely upon anymore?

"V, patience is life. We have already applied for your visa. Hopefully, it will come very soon, and you as well as Jack will be able to travel there, so don't worry.....nothing will happen...." was it true?  Can She trust her father's sincere words?

At this stage, she can't differentiate between what was true and what wasn't. Hanging up the call, Veronica knew that, the longer it will take for both of them to talk, the more she will feel dejected.

Staring at the ring in her hand, she touched it with her light fingers to caress it finally, "Call me...Max, tell me, you are fine...tell me, you are mine..."

....

With the same strength she held, and the same heavy heart, almost a month had passed!

There was no contact with Max, where Veronica had finally concluded that maybe it was all meant to be broken. Maybe she was used for his benefit and he has finally left her to be back at his home.

In fact, all her friends had told her about how strict his father might be. Despite the multiple attempts to not let herself be overwhelmed with tons of emotion, she had already lost all hopes...

But that never meant that she had stopped waiting for him. Her love for him was stronger than any wall!

Meanwhile, she was sitting in his room where she played with Jack. He was roaming around her while singing the nursery rhymes she taught him to distract her mind.

Clapping her hands, she patted his head, "You Are doing wonderful Jack!"

"Yes! When dad will come, he will be also proud of me!" he hurriedly lifted his hand in hope, but the same words froze her smile.  For the last few weeks, she has been giving him false hope, because she had no intention to tell the son his face..

That his father has forgotten their small family....

How was she supposed to explain and put this forward when she herself isn't able to come in contact with reality?

He was a child who adores his father way too much. If she, as an adult isn't able to come to terms with the same, what can she expect out of him?

It hurt, it grew her heart still with the thorns of the bloated mist that came across. It wasn't easy to let go of them for his sake, but she has to do. After all, she isn't only a lonely lover but also a single-handed mother now...

However, then her phone rang which caught her attention. Averting Her gaze at Jack, she signaled him, "Jacky, muma will be back in a few minutes. play with your toys till that time.."

Saying this, she got up from her place before she walked to the shelf to pick up her phone, which was from an unknown number. "Hello? Who is this?"

"HELLO?" Veronica once again spoke at the lack of reason. Was this some kind of prank call? With the absolute silence on the other side, Veronica was ready to hang it up, before the words reached up to her ears.

"V, I'm sorry...."

......
