The Kidnapped Bride

Chapter 415 - I Will Have To Leave!

At this point, Veronica agreed to his words. It would be best for her to not actually let her thoughts roam around anymore.

And the best way to ease herself was to watch Tristan getting married, in front of her eyes.

Till now, the bride has already entered with her parents. Her face was covered with the veil, where Veronica's eyes never tore from the smile that was plastered on Tristan's face. It was as if he was staring at his entire universe.  The love he holds for his wife to be made her heart strong and be caged but she held herself strong for this.

She had prepared herself and maybe, it was how others feel when they see their love getting married to someone whom they are immensely in love with.

Her lips were formed into the thin line before she took a deep breath.

On the other hand, Max had very well noted the change in her expressions. He could imagine that must be going through a series of emotions right now.

Peeking at her face from the corner of his eyes, he can't help but mutter, "You shouldn't be so sad. Someone is getting married here.."

"I'm happy for him. I'm just sad for myself that, maybe I shouldn't have loved him...or wouldn't have kept myself in such a dark place," she told him honestly to which he didn't react much either.

His lips were sealed, but to uplift her mood, Max did say, "But the past can't be turned anymore. So be happy that you got a chance to be his best friend, and... if you had confessed yourself to him, how would have we spent the night that day"

His words gained her attention. As Veronica lifted her gaze to stare at his fine face, she realized that he looked extremely handsome. As compared to the night at the bar, today he was in the formals. A gray coat, above a white shirt, absolutely suited his personality. Neither did he look sophisticated, nor any playboy.

'Was I foolish to believe that he was playboy that day?' Her perception changed but Veronica didn't give voice to her thoughts.

She looked at the couples who were taking vows to be with each other in all the possible ways, either in lows or highs. Their vows made her wonder if she will get married to someone she will love ever?

Was marriage ever written in her life? A scoff left her lips at this thought...Obviously, she will.

However, her thoughts were enough to make her breathe halt, as Max bent down a little to come near her ears. Bringing his lips near her ears, she felt his hot breeze against her skin before he whispered, "How would life be, if we get married some time, taking the vows? In the same place of these two?"

Immediately, Veronica's eyes were wide. She was taken aback by his words, did he just say... or confess? She was confused already.

As the surprised expressions embedded on her face, Veronica found it extremely hard to suppress her feelings. Her cheeks were burning red, with the embracement taking over her mind. It was hard to resist his aura, but is she able to?

At this point, her heart was pounding her chest as if it was ready to break the rib cage and come out. She was all blank, making her head revolve in all directions.

Neither can she define herself right now as if she is totally blown up.

As Max noted her stiff body, his lips were curved into a smirk. There was no further conversation but the awkward silence falling by their side.

The ceremony was held in front of their eyes, but Veronica didn't feel remorse anymore.

Rather, all she felt was the words of max repeating in the back of her mind like any reel. 'But....the idea didn't seem too bad either. He is smart.' At the thought, Veronica's eyes were averted upward to see his defined face.

The sparkle in her eyes never faded away but only increased with each state, the intoxication was hard to let go. Gulping the saliva preset in her mouth,  she heard the priest telling the couple to kiss each other.

But Veronica's eyes were still stagnant at Max, who could also feel the awkwardness increasing with each moment.

At last, he finally blurted it out, "Don't say afterward that you're falling for me.."

"Why? Didn't you say that some of the other days, we can also be in their place?" the words slipped from Veronica's lips without realizing.

But with the same statement, Max's head went down to stare at the lady who had displayed no shame, only the confidence, and boldness out of her. With the stars war force one, to make both of their hearts skip a beat. There was no denying that it was hard to let go but Max finally told her.

"Let's give it a try, let's see where life takes us....then.."

....

Weeks converted into months and months into the years, with almost two years passing by. The journey contained many ups and downs for the couple, as they had now turned twenty-four.

From living together with each other, this love bloomed and remained at the peak, with nothing shaking it. Moreover, with the support from family and friends, they managed to overcome the dozens of problems that arose in life.

However, this wasn't the entire blessing that God had gifted them with..

The same was this morning when Veronica woke up in her bed, but she found that Max was standing outside on the balcony. While she was wearing his white t-shirt, she got up from her bed before she went behind him to give him a  hug from the back.

Resting her head against his broad back, Veronica closed her eyes when she  muttered, "What are you thinking about..so early?"

"I will have to go back, Veronica."
