The Kidnapped Bride

Chapter 351 - Died

Alice blinked her eyes as she felt herself almost floating in the cloud. It felt so light from earlier!

But in the back of her mind, she could feel herself shattering herself. Despite not having enough power to speak, her eyes turned moist before she could even utter herself.

"Mother…" she heard a soft voice calling her. Rotating her head, she saw Javier sitting by her side with a worried look, "Javier…Charles…when did you come here..?"

"When you were unconscious. Or exhausted, mum" Charles answered when he filled the glass of water for her, "Please drink this. The nurse said you will need a lot of water.."

"A lot of water?" her brows lifted from their place when she didn't understand what her son meant by this. But instead of revolting, she sat on her bed to get the glass and gulp it in one go.

"Hmm….you know, your mother gave birth to your sister already? Have you both met her?" Alice asked with her half-filled heart.

But instead, she didn't get a single response. Both of them had their lips sealed into a thin line which got her mixed emotions as well, "What happened to you both? Aren't you excited to meet your sister?"

"Mother…I think…you got the wrong information." Charles muttered and Javier's grips on his mother's hand tightened to lower his eyelids.

As expected by both the sons, their mother was clueless. Neither did their father tell her about this. 'Maybe because she fell unconscious just after giving birth…' Charles assumed this to be the real case.

While Javier and Charles maintained their thick silence, Alice felt her heart beating fast. Subconsciously, her hands traveled to rub Javier's head before she looked at Charles.

"What happened when I was unconscious? Did something major take place behind my back?" Her concern was very much clear in her voice.

While she was awaiting the response from his side, Charles found it hard to disclose the entire scene to his mother. He found it extremely indigestible, which left no courage to even lift his eyes to meet his mother's longing ones.

"Y-You know that…child wasn't supposed to be born now?" he asked carefully, to get her nod. "I know. I don't know how but my water broke…leave it. You won't understand."

"But I heard the cry..I remember pushing out the child very well." Alice was in pain but the relaxation that surfaced after her child was out, was clearly embedded in her brain.

It was a memorable moment for her. Even the doctors muttered to her but she was too much self-absorbed to hear them out.

When she felt none of her sons were answering her, it grew her impatient. Her eyes shifted to the rest of the ward in search of her daughter but then…nothing came into her view.

"No..call the nurse right now! I will talk with her. Or..call the doctor!" she determinedly asked.

But her request was soon dissolved when the door of the room was opened and stepped inside her cheating husband.

Alice's face grew sullen on his arrival when she felt extreme soreness inside her own heart. "What are you even doing here? Who allowed you to come here?"

Her cold voice entered into his ears which irked him but somehow he managed to cope up with his own sentiments too.

"I'm your husband and…except me, who will do the rest of the formalities for you and the..baby?" he asked bluntly, bringing the harsh reality that she didn't like it. Nevertheless, Alice didn't buy this lie of his anymore, "My husband? Then I don't need a husband like you anymore.."

"Call my father and brother right here! I don't wanna see your face even for a minor second!" she raised her voice like any other animal when Charles came forward to press her shoulders, "Mom, please be careful. I think you should listen to what he has to say.."

Hearing this, Alice rested her head to look at her son with her disbelieving eyes. Why was suddenly Charles taking his father's side? Because he was her son…who always stood by her. 'Or maybe they don't know what their father has even done to their mother…' this thought resided in her mind.

With her eyes getting tearier, she looked at her husband who stood there with an expressionless face, "Speak, Where is my daughter?"

"Sh...She is no more. Y-you gave birth to her but.. She died just a few hours after birth…"

THUD!

THUD!

THUD!

Alice can't believe her ears. All she felt was some joke passed over her face which she clearly didn't find amusing to hear. Her eyes widened as she shifted her eyes to stare at her other child, Javier, who had his head low.

"J-Javier..tell mommy..i..is what is your father saying…is..that truth?" In response, she got a slight nod enough for her confirmation.

So..was her child dead? Was her daughter no more there with her?

Her heart started to beat so fast when she had to clutch her chest so hard that it pained her. Her body was trembling from the shock she received. While her sight gave everyone presents their slight horror, Shawn immediately rushed to get a doctor for her.

As the nurses and the doctor came to give her the injection as her pulse rate increased, she was once again driven back into a deep slumber to avoid anything wrong. It was a big slap that came on their face. But this wasn't the case.

The family of four was present in the room when Alice laid peacefully in sleep on the bed while Charles and Shawn stood there near the window. At the same time, Javier didn't budge away from this position.

He was stagnant by sitting beside his mother while holding her hand with his tight grip. In the same manner, his eyes were fixed on his mother's sleeping figure like a small child who was bent on taking care of his unhealthy mom.

Buf Charles had more important things to talk to his father about right now. When he traced his eyes in his father's direction, he found him exhausted, or more likely to say, scared.

Initially, he was unwilling but later on, he gathered the courage to ask, "Father, what have you done now? Why is mom….so persistent that she isn't even willing to see you and is asking to call uncle and grandfather?"

"I..I.." Shawn's eyes traveled down to the ground were no words uttered out of his lips. Yet Charles's eyes narrowed on the spot as if he felt something odd in those guilty eyes.

"D-Did…you…do something…which is coming in my mind?"
