The Kidnapped Bride

Chapter 247 - Engagement Day! (5)

The wine glass that Jennifer was sipping from, slapped on the floor when it broke into pieces. Voice Of cracks was heard by everyone when they shifted their eyes to look at the source.

At the same time, Jennifer made an apologetic face when she lowered her eyes a little bit sorry for the same, "I...I'm sorry. I was drinking when the glass slipped out of my hands.."

"No worries Ms. Taylor. It is alright. I will ask the butler to make it clean." Charles came in her favor and rescue when she nodded and smiled at his humanity, "Thank you..."

Charles immediately called the butler and instructed him to clear the mess before someone is hurt. Moreover, Jennifer didn't move an inch from her place, in the worry that it might hurt her as well.

People stood at their place when the butler asked one of the maids to clean the shattered pieces of the glasses one by one. Yet, their gaze was fixed on her which she didn't even have to lift her eyes to learn.

Somehow, when the butler cleared up the mess, one of the elder ladies commented, "You know, it is considered to be a bad omen when the glass breaks. Just the engagement was done.."

"I agree with you. Probably some kind of bad situation is going to come in front of Johnson's family, must be this a sign beforehand." Another elder lady whispered but loud enough for not only Jennifer but also others to hear.

Although there was no change in their expressions Emily already growled in anger. For how long can she maintain her noble image?

Seeing Emily never satisfied, Jennifer's started to curve upwards. Her eyes were deeper than any sea when she once again brought one shot of alcohol near her lips and drank it in one go.

Witnessing that Jennifer had no control only added worry to Hannah and Austin's worries, "Jennifer, let us go to the back in the garden and have a walk." Saying this Hannah held Jennifer's hand to bring her out but it was of no use.

"Um.. No! I want to have more drinks! This Is really taste..you know.." Jennifer instantly denied as she broke her grip from Hannah's clutch and turned her back around, she waved at the bartender, "One more! I want to drink to my fullest tonight!"

"But Jennifer, this is harmful to you! Don't you know that you have a low tolerance for these kinds of things?" Hannah wasn't someone foreign. She was well aware of how tipsy this girl can be when she is fully drunk.

Yet it is of no use since Jennifer has no heart to listen to what they both said. The bartender fulfilled her order when he refilled her glass once again and she drank it.

One.. two.. Three.. And many more to continue.

Neither did Hannah say anything, nor Austin but in the end, Austin simply passed the bartender a glare to stop what he was doing. The meaning was crystal clear: Do not add more

As if his dad was caught in some kind of the wrong clutch, the bartender held himself back and attended to the other guests. But Jennifer finds her glass to be entirely empty, with no one to refill it.

"Hey, you! Come and fill this!"

"Jennifer, this is enough for now. Let us head back to the room now. It would be for the best…" Austin answered when he held her wrist and was ready to bring her back, but somehow she managed to break herself free. "No! I won't go back to that room."

"But Jennifer,  that's for the best, the engagement is done. Both of them are busy with respect works and Javier isn't even paying you any attention.: Hanah brought harsh reality in front of her.

As if hearing this, Jennifer's mood ultimately soured, "So what? I'm his wife!"

"Not until you reveal that to everyone. Trust me Jennifer this would be for the best that we go back to your room and you sleep for now.."Both of them are thieves to pursue her but she was thick-skinned as usual.

There was no way anything would work on her by the amount of level of stubbornness she hooked at this point when a sigh already escaped their lips.

But that isn't the end.

Something struck her tiny mind. Her eyes smuggled and groaned when she muttered in between her breath. "He is also correct. I will not be the real wife until I tell everyone about that.. Hmm.."

If that was the case then Jennifer was not hesitant to even say it loudly, say it in front of everyone without any fear. The amount of confidence that generated inside her was all because of the alcohol she consumed earlier.

Turning around, Jennifer held her glass tightly when she stared into her eyes, "I'm Javier's Wife.. and..I..I will prove this to everyone!"

"H..How?" Hannah can't comprehend her words with contact but it was too late since Jenifer already walked off the place and come into the middle of the crowd. Picking up the glass and one of his spoons from the nearby table, Jennifer stumbled stricked the hard spoon against the glass, "M..may.. I have... All of your attention please?"

As expected, all of the people present were already looking in her direction to see that a lady was suddenly, standing in the middle, trying to say something? What can that be?

Jennifer repeated the task, gaining everyone's attention. Unfortunately, it brought a deep and clear frown on Shawn and Shirley's faces. Nevertheless, she was already staring, how Jennifer was trying to ruin her engagement party.

In Contrast to all of them, Javier never uttered anything, rather he kept his eyes fixed on others, with serious expressions. 'What drama are you now going to create Jennifer?' he kept on wondering but in the middle of his heart, the instincts are giving him a hard signal too.

At last, Jennifer smiled when she looked at everyone already looking in her direction. "As we all know that Mr. Johnson got engaged today, but are you guys sure that he was single before his engagement?:
