The Kidnapped Bride

Chapter 238 - He Can Have Second Wife!

Both of their eyes flew to the next side to see Austin standing at the entrance of the room with a  frown face. Fury was clearly filled in his eyes which showed that it was the end of his patience.

"You heard me right! Even If you married him, that doesn't mean he can't marry anyone in this state anymore!" Austin's words didn't make any sense to either of the ladies.

Walking towards them, he closed the door behind and there was the legal paper in his hand which he threw on the coffee table with much strength, "You married Javier Johnson last night, didn't you?"

"Y..y..yes I married him. So what? How did you hear that? Did you try to h-"

"No, I didn't do anything wrong." Interrogating in the middle, Austin's lips curved upwards when he stared at Jennifer with his mist eye, "I have contacts. When you both left the villa, that too in the middle of the night and did all the paperwork... that too so late in the night."

"You think I wasn't keeping my eye over anyone in this state!? Then you are probably wrong, Jennifer. Especially when it comes to you, I have all the tracks of each and every person.."

He was brutally honest with his words. Just from the corner of his eyes, she can sense that he wasn't joking. Instead, those filters of his eyes were already speaking some foreign language.

There was nothing to hide and Jennifer had no such intent either. But the way he looked, made her stomach feel the sensation of something churning.

"I know you're upset about marriage. But Austin, I love him." Jennifer clarifies on her path but this brought a smirk to Austin's face. His lips curved upwards, sensing that he found her dumb at this stage.

Not only that, Hannah who was quiet until now, can't even understand a single thing. While Jennifer dropped the bomb of knowing about this marriage, Austin was now crafting riddles... "Can you both please say whatever you wish to?"

"What is there to even say anymore when the lady has already taken the decision blindly? without even consulting anyone." Austin was sarcastic with his words which weren't liked by Jennifer at all.

"If I had told you that I'm getting married to Javier and I asked him something like that s that.. would you have agreed to what I did? Were You going to support me?"

In her eyes that was not only a  question, she found it ridiculous. It was her life and indeed her rules matter. If she has something with Javier, was there any need to publicize it with others too? That was a strange decision which she took maybe out of emotions but she wasn't feeling regret…. at least till now.

Austin tugged his hands into his pocket when he looked at her, "No I won't. Because I know something which you are unaware of."

"See yourself! You weren't going to support me at any cost." Jennifer's example and theory were proven to be correct just by Austin's one reply, "That is the reason I wasn't willing to disclose that with you too."

"But you heard me? Because I know some things which even you aren't aware of. Yes, I do have feelings for you and wish for you to be mine but not that case that I can afford to force you."

Hearing this, Jennifer's eyes twisted slightly. Her strong gaze lowered at the floor, with the thought that he was acting with arrogance but his words were slowly and steadily getting softer too. "You mean.."

"Love isn't a forced thing. If you feel for that man, good for you and him but marriage? Jennifer, do you know about the rules of this state!? At least you could have taken some time to think about the rules and laws of this state!? Are you even aware of anything here?"

Still Shaking her head, she admitted that it was all foreign to me at this point, "No..I guess but why has my marriage to be prey to those rules and all? Am I not his legal wife? We did paperwork.."

"You might have signed and been his wife legally but Jennifer, there is one thing, big enough to give you setback right now."

"What is Austin? Please tell us about the same.." Hannah asked, who wishes to know what can change their lives so easily, especially when Jennifer was already involved in this marriage.

Hearing the request Austin takes the paper from the coffee table and flips them accordingly. At the end came the signature which he showed to Jennifer "these are your signs right?"

Nodding her head inwardly, she tried her best to act tough and not to show her fear anymore. But the way he looked so powerful, made her think twice. 'What law can break our marriage!? Did Javier not know about this?"'

Somewhere, she did realize that it was her mistake on one hand that she married in a rush and didn't try to know anything before, rather than her love for Javier…

But now the deed is done and she has to wait for the result. Meanwhile, Austin once again put the bunch of the paperback on the table when he looked straight into Jennifer's eyes, "Your dear husband didn't tell you about any rules? any?"

"N..No… we married so that I can get out of Lucas's clutches and won't have to marry Lucas anymore. On the other hand, he won't be forced to marry Emily. We both have feelings too.. so.." her breakeven voice was hard to hear where she was getting puzzled as well.

Her heart was beating at an unsteady rate already.

Taking a deep breath, he finally spoke out "Your man can still marry anyone else who so ever he wishes to and wants to and you have no say in this.."

"Wh..Why?! I'm already his legal.... wife.."

His eyes narrowed slightly when he opened his mouth with slight mocking, "Because in this state, Polygamy is practiced. Two marriages are allowed, with one as the first wife and the second one too, named to be the legal wife and a man can stay married to both at the same time... you are just his first...
