The Guardians' Throne - The First Magic Swordsman

Chapter 436: Confirmation

Chapter 436: Confirmation

The history of that world was becoming weirder. Still, even though he was being biased, Zaos could understand the hate that Azoth and the other demons felt. Their actions were justified, but they weren’t evil for the sake of being evil. In any case, the hero of that magic tribe probably had access to a system, perhaps even more advanced than Zaos since he managed to make a lot of discoveries and even created fearsome spells out of nothing. Darkaun felt the power of Zaos system and then felt the similarities between them? If that were the case, then someone gave those two the system, but a weaker one to Zaos… Why? Because they didn’t want Zaos to follow the same path?

From what Azoth said, their hero wasn’t that bloodthirsty since he tried to open dialogue, even after his tribe was banished. Still, after losing his patience, he also lost all his scruples. After thinking for a while, Zaos also assumed that the other reincarnated probably didn’t lose the memories of his past lives, and perhaps with that, he made some breakthroughs in the camp of magic… Zaos always felt that he could have made more progress in certain fields if he had his previous life, knowledge, after all.

“You said that you didn’t know your leader’s goal, but it is obvious that he wants to take the world to himself,” Zaos said.

“No… in the long war, we almost took over the entire world, but our lord never got satisfied,” Azoth said. “Not even the possibility of taking the last nation excited him… before the battle where he was defeated, he said to us that once the battle was over, he would tell us his true goal.”

“So, taking over the world was just a stepping stone for him. What a mad bastard,” Zaos said.

Zaos bit his lips in annoyance. In the end, the asshole was just another reincarnated that was planning to use Milliendra like a tool. Zaos didn’t know if they came from the same planet, but that didn’t change the factor that he wanted to brutally murder him for treating Milliendra like that… for making her suffer like that… Zaos won’t forgive him no matter what.

“… How can I counter his ability to drain mana?” Zaos asked with eyes filled with hatred.

“That is impossible,” Azoth replied. “While his followers didn’t have to deal with the curse of fear, not a single one of us could deal with his power to drain mana. He used it as a countermeasure in case someone tried to assassinate him… or so the story goes. Some people thought that wasn’t the main reason… while the powers he granted us increased our lifespans, we still couldn’t live for more than two hundred years. At the time I was in life, our lord was over three hundred years old. Many suspected that he used his powers to increase his mana and his lifespan.”

That made sense since the self-proclaimed demon god never told others what his true goal, he wouldn’t reveal all his secrets to others. Still, Zaos knew so little that even useless things that come from the mouth of the demons might help him in the future.

“Can you communicate with that asshole?” Zaos asked.

“… You should be careful when you talk about the demon god. Those who insulted him didn’t have peaceful deaths,” Azoth said.

“I couldn’t care less about that. I will kill that asshole because of him, an important friend of mine died, his daughter won’t have a normal life for years to come, and her husband became obsessed with revenge,” Zaos said and then shouted. “I will kill that fucker even if that is the last thing I will do in this world! Now answer my question if you don’t want to get beaten like that again!”

“… no, we haven’t talked with him since the day of our defeat,” Azoth said. “We are only acting according to our own volition while trying to make things easier for when the real war starts.”

“How do you communicate with each other?” Zaos asked. “Where I can find others like you and the high-ranked demons?”

“… I don’t know,” Azoth said while he looked away.

“… I told you not to lie,” Zaos said and then made his swords emit flames again.

“Do what you want… I will do anything to survive, but I won’t betray my comrades,” Azoth said.

“Don’t give me that crap, asshole!” Zaos said and then hit Azoth’s face with his right knee. “Your fucking boss is a piece of shit that is ruining the life of a little girl just for him to have another chance to live. He lived dozens of times more than her, and he still feels that he should steal the little life that she has… you cocksuckers have no right to even think about camaraderie or friendship! Tell me where they are now, or will fucking kill you very slowly!”

It was hard to say if Azoth didn’t want to answer or if the previous attack knocked him down, but he was immobile on the ground. All that shit made Zaos less all his hesitation. He will kill all those bastards. Zaos healed Azoth and waited for answers. When he didn’t get it, he used his sword with ice magic and began to freeze Azoth limbs. He could feel the frostbites slowly destroying all the flesh and then turning those parts into dead matter. Azoth screamed in agony, but he didn’t give Zaos the answers that he wanted.

“Little pieces of shit…” Zaos muttered.

Zaos couldn’t waste the entire day torturing that guy, and after all the limbs on his body had been taken by frostbites, Zaos understood that he wouldn’t speak, so he finished his miserable life. After that, he cremated the body.

“I will have to look for another to interrogate, but first, I need to sleep a little and then confirm if my actions last night helped in any way,” Zaos said.
