The Guardians' Throne - The First Magic Swordsman

Chapter 415 - Decision

Zaos opened his eyes widely again… the demon said that his best attack stings… that had to be a nightmare. He didn't expect that the servants of the demon god could become that strong…

Although his sword was piercing the flesh and making the monster bleed, the wound was too small, and the demon wasn't suffering all that much from the paralysis effect his sword should have right now. Thanks to that, Darkaun moved his legs backward a little bit to gain momentum, but before he could do anything, Zaos jumped backward. When the demon dashed toward him, Zaos fired an Earth Bullet toward his eyes and then jumped to the side. Darkaun moved his arms to block the projectile, and he didn't see Zaos moving away.

That seemed an effective tactic to avoid being smashed by that lump of muscles, but only Zaos would lose if he kept doing that. After all, the creature didn't rely on mana to fight. He could keep going like that for as long as he could. Before Darkaun could turn around and face him again, Zaos noticed that he was actually in the middle of a city that had many houses. However, the number of presences was low… and despite all the noise they were making while fighting, neither of them was moving. Their presences were really small… in size, just like Milliendra.

"There are kids here?" Zaos frowned.

These presences were inside the houses, and some of them were really close. If Zaos leave Darkaun rampaging for too long, several of them are bound to die. Zaos quickly understood that those kids were probably the next generation of assassins that those assholes wanted to train… holding his sword tightly. Zaos felt even eager to kill the damned beast as soon as possible.

When the beast charged toward Zaos again, he was forced to slow down at the last minute since Zaos' sword got longer thanks to earth magic. The demon tried to punch the sword away, but Zaos moved to the side and made the monster miss. At the same time, the tip of his sword scratched the creature's cheek, making it bleed. Zaos nodded to himself mentally. If it bleeds, then it can be killed.

Zaos jumped backward again while swinging his sword to the side, and that made Darkaun click his tongue in annoyance. He was faster, but the length and the power of the weapon made his strength and speed difficult to use. Instead of dashing toward Zaos before he could prepare his attack, Darkaun punched the ground with both arms and made the entire area tremble. Zaos' stance broke thanks to the tremor, and then Drakaun dashed toward him.

Zaos clicked his tongue in annoyance because while longer weapons are easy to make enemies stay away, they are difficult to use when the enemies are close. Zaos just clenched his teeth and prepared for the pain, but at the same time, he swung his sword toward Darkaun's neck.

The demon moved its right arm at the last moment to block the attack, and he succeeded, but he ended up hitting Zaos with only his left arm. Still, that had been more than enough to make him fly for several meters and make his back collide against the walls of a nearby house. The wall cracked in several places, and it would have fallen if Zaos had been wearing his armor.

"Note to my future self… carry with you your damn armor," Zaos said after he got up and spat some blood.

Zaos prepared to be attacked once again, but Darkaun still hadn't done anything. He saw the demon looking at his right arm that was bleeding quite a bit… blocking a sword strike with a single arm hadn't been a very good idea.

"What an annoying sword…" Darkaun muttered. "Still, I couldn't have asked for a better chance to destroy it and save myself to a damn hassle later."

Things weren't looking good. Since even the Thunder Blade couldn't paralyze the demon. In that case, nothing in Zaos's arsenal could actually kill the creature in a single attack. Maybe his greatsword would be more useful than Guardian's Heart against that type of enemy, but Zaos didn't bring it, nor could he use both of his hands to fight with it. Zaos needed more information about the target to find any weaknesses… At that moment, Zaos had a certain idea.

Zaos wondered why he didn't think of doing that before. All spells could be enhanced by using more mana, so why wouldn't that apply to Appraisal? In any case, Zaos just learned that the body of the host can also increase the strength of the demon. Since the host made himself strong against Poison, the demon received that power. However, Zaos also found a weakness of some sort… Well, it wasn't much of a weakness. It was actually one of their strengths.

Zaos saw that strength in action when a dark aura covered the wound of Darkaun, and then the bleeding stopped altogether. That was really convenient since now the creature could keep going all out without caring about the wound.

In the next moment, Darkaun dashed toward Zaos again, and his target only pointed his sword toward him. Darkaun moved his arm to grab the weapon, but in the end, Zaos fired an enhanced Light Arrow toward his face and blinded the enemy for a few seconds. However, Darkaun ignored that because he felt both his arms crushing Zaos's body. Darkaun almost smirked while thinking how useless that kind of attack had been... as expected, the next wielders of the legendary weapons were nothing if compared to the previous wielders....
