The Guardians' Throne - The First Magic Swordsman

Chapter 409 - Going Easy

After a couple of minutes, Zaos noticed that the air was getting thin, and the interior of the ruins was also crazy hot. Fortunately, Zaos found the end of the staircase alongside a big door made of stone. He didn't find any way to open the door, though. It seems that it had been built in an age where doorknobs weren't the rage yet.

"Hmm… something feels weird here," Zaos thought.

Zaos had to think and look around for a while to understand what made him feel that way. He eventually understood that it was due to the fact that he didn't see any spider webs. Due to the heat, it wouldn't be weird if small insects wouldn't live so deep, but Zaos also recalled that he didn't find any web in the entrance and in the corridor either.

After a couple of minutes, Zaos also noticed that the place wasn't that dusty either. At least he wasn't coughing… he tried to check the ground, and then he noticed that it wasn't dusty… it only had the appearance of being dusty. Someone painted the ground and the interior of the ruins to look like that.

"Hmm… this is quite interesting," Zaos rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Does that mean that this place is a fake ruin or something?"

Usually, since it was below some dunes, the ceiling also would make some sand fall, but Zaos didn't see that either. Most likely, the cracks in the ceiling he found earlier were also paintings. It was fine that Zaos was fooled, but why did Moody also fall for that trap? Animals should have better instincts than humans…

Now that Zaos found out that the place only looked like it was about to be buried in sand to fool others that might find the fake ruins, he felt even eager to explore the place. However, the big stone door still was on his way, and Zaos couldn't find anything around that might open it… since that was probably used as a hideout, it wouldn't be weird if it could only be open from inside. With that in mind, Zaos could only do one thing…

"Well, if this place was created to hide the organization that Aleni belonged to, then, it will be fine if I make some noise," Zaos nodded to himself.

If there was another exit, then things could become troublesome. However, Zaos doubted that the targets would try to escape as soon as he destroyed the door if they found that Zaos was alone. Perhaps they will since only a monster would be able to forcefully open a stone door that big. Maybe Zaos could open it with brute strength and with some help of magic, but he shouldn't since it would scare the targets.

"... Maybe this will do it," Zaos said as he looked toward Guardian's Heart.

Zaos enhanced his sword three times with Earth magic and then put the tip in the line that connected both sides of the door. He used all his strength to open a path to all his sword to pass through, but even that didn't work. In the end, Zaos used his raw mana to enhance his sword. This time, when the weapon touched the door, it began to destroy it without making any noise. In the blink of an eye, Zaos made his sword pierce It deeply, but at the same time, all the mana he had used in a single moment had been drained.

"I can't see the other side yet… what a fucking door," Zaos frowned.

Using his raw mana now would damage the door more. Still, it wouldn't make it open as soon as possible, so Zaos used Earth magic again to enhance the weapon, and once he put it in the hole, he used all his might to make it move at least one side of it. At first, Zaos didn't get a response, but once he enhanced his arms, the door began to tremble. His face turned red with all the effort he was putting behind it. After a couple of seconds, the door finally began to move, and Zaos slowly could see the other side. At the same time, he began to feel many presences… presences that were similar to Aleni's when she was working.

"Oh, crap… this number is… not good," Zaos muttered.

Fortunately, once Zaos opened the stone door past a point, it didn't try to close by itself. So, Zaos passed through once the space was large enough. He jumped and reached the other side. While Zaos was trying to catch his breath, he noticed that he wasn't indeed in some ruins… instead of that, he saw himself standing inside of some sort of large hole. The walls were rough, but they also seemed weird even while looking from a distance. Aside from that, there wasn't much else in that place aside from some minor walls that divided all that space into many zones and some weird platforms that Zaos had no idea what those were from… they made him recall of siege weapons. Still, they were different at the same time. Aside from all that, Zaos could see dozens of assassins armed and ready to fight.

"Let me catch some air… please," Zaos said.

Zaos tried to ask as nicely as possible, and it seemed that worked somehow since the assassins didn't try to do anything. However, they didn't act for another reason.

"Kill the invader," a certain rough voice echoed through the area.

As expected, a big shot was there. However, Zaos didn't have time to think about that. Five assassins dashed toward him with their insane speed. Zaos got used to their fighting style thanks to the countless spars he had against Aleni. Still, he couldn't get carried away with so many trying to cut his neck.

Zaos wanted to look for the origin of that voice, but he couldn't show all his cards now… so, when the five assassins approached him, he cast Sleep and then slowed down around him.. Once that happened, he swung his sword and broke their arms.
