The Guardians' Throne - The First Magic Swordsman

Chapter 394 - Fear

Zaos thought the underground of the castle was just a minor part that it was used to do some things like the use of courtesans to satisfy the weird fetishes of the king. Still, he frowned when he saw three paths ahead of him when the stairs finally ended. He used Light in the Darkness for a short while, but he didn't find anything in the distance… The underground corridors were that long.

"I forgot but this probably was also built in order for the royal family to escape if something happens…" Zaos thought. "With that in mind, it would make sense that they would turn this into a maze."

Still, Zaos recalled from which direction he felt the underground presence… he just had to walk in a straight line the middle path. The underground was only ten meters below the castle, but that didn't mean that Zaos couldn't make much noise, so he picked his magic crossbow and prepared to use it without thinking too much about it.

After a couple of minutes, Zaos found a door in front of him, and inside the room, he could feel many presences. He also could feel a weird smell coming from it… it seemed like perfume, but it was a lot thicker. Regardless, some of those presences belonged to demons, and others didn't. At that point in time, they finally noticed Zaos… they were busy doing something there, and that was why he approached without being noticed, but they finally noticed him.

Zaos kicked the door with all his might and then made it fly, he was prepared to fight and kill everything that moved, but in the end, the shock paralyzed him. He saw a bunch of naked men with weapons pointed at him. Some of them had weird facial creatures like the demon he killed before, like red eyes, pointy ears… others looked like straight-out monsters since they had horns and were muscular, almost three meters tall creatures. On the other side of the room, Zaos found a woman sitting on what seemed to be a copy of the throne. She had long hair, red like blood, and she also had two wings on her back, butchers weren't bat-like… they resembled more like a crow's wings. The woman also had a pretty curvy figure, large chest, thin waist, and one heck of an ass. That woman was also wearing quite the revealing outfit… it somehow looked familiar. Still, Zaos couldn't remember where he had seen such type of armor. It looked like some swimsuits that very bold women like to wear. Regardless, the strange smell was coming from her.

"It seems we have an unexpected guest tonight," Tynessa said. "I heard that a dark cloaked man with a weird presence killed Xergoron, are you the one who did that?"

Instead of answering that, Zaos pointed his crossbow and then fired toward the humans in the room. They tried to block the bolts, and they actually succeeded, but they fell after being electrocuted anyway. Zaos had improved his magic crossbow that fired wind bolts to one that could fire electric bolts. While it could only be used a single time, it always knocked down bears in the forest near to his home. Naturally, they were as effective against humans as well.

"What a hasty human… attack him, but don't kill him," Tynessa said.

The demon-looking creatures roared and then dashed toward Zaos, he fired the electric bolts toward the small ones, but those grabbed the bolts. While they were electrocuted for a short while, they weren't knocked down. Zaos unequipped his crossbow and then grabbed his sword to block the attack of the tall horned creature that looked like a humanoid bull. The monster didn't hesitate in punching Zaos's sword, and even though the blade cut his fist a little bit, the creature insisted on trying to overpower Zaos. While clenching his teeth, Zaos jumped backward… he wished that he had brought his greatsword. It would be much easier to fight something that big with that weapon.

"And I was starting to get satisfied with my current strength… what a joke," Zaos muttered.

A small flying demon moved to the side and then pointed its hands toward Zaos. In the next moment, he saw some weird spikes coming from that thing's hands and flying toward him. Zaos enhanced his sword with wind and then blocked the projectiles after swinging it. The bigger monster approached Zaos again, but this time, Zaos attacked faster, and the tip of his sword pierced the monster's left chest… not as much as he had hoped.

"Shit…" Zaos muttered when he saw the monsters joining both hands to strike him down with an attack from above.

Zaos pulled back his sword and then fired several Earth Swords toward the creature's face. While they hit the monster and made its skull crack in several places, it didn't stop it from hitting Zaos' left shoulder. Zaos had avoided the direct hit, but the attack still dislocated his left shoulder and made him sweat cold due to the pain. That really was the strength of a monster…

"It can't be helped…" Zaos muttered after he used Mend Bones.

Zaos didn't want to kill innocent people, not even those possessed by demons. However, hesitation led to his death right at that moment, so he didn't have any other choice… he put his two strength rings on his right hand, and when the horned monster attacked again, he stopped it with his sword alone.

"Hmm?" Tynessa frowned.

"It is time to go back to return to the hellhole you escaped from," Zaos said and then swung his sword again, cutting off the giant monster's arm.

Blood began to rush from the wound as the creature moaned in pain. The other demons in the room were also paralyzed by the scene. So, they hesitated in attacking again.

"I see… even demons can feel fear, huh," Zaos grinned from ear to ear.
