The Epic of Leviathan (A Mutant's Ascension)

[4th Division, Seireitei] 

"Isane, how many times do I have to tell you that you don't have to worry about me?" Captain Unohana asked politely… 

Retsu Unohana is the Captain of the 4th Division of Gotei 13. She was one of the most experienced Captains and the best healer in Soul Society. 

Retsu Unohana is a very slender and youthful woman with blue eyes and black hair. Most of the time she is dressed in the standard Shinigami Captain uniform, but she wears an obi instead of the normal sash. 

Her hair is long and is always worn as a large braid down the front of her body. Captain Unohana has a gentle and warm personality that augments her appearance. Unohana is a soft-spoken, polite, and caring woman who uses honorifics while addressing everyone, even the enemy. 

Unlike most Shinigami who carry their Zanpakutou in their sash, Unohana has a large string attached to the sheath of her Zanpakutou and she carries it over her shoulder. 

Sometimes she has her lieutenant, Isane Kotetsu, carry it for her whenever they are together on the battlefield. Unohana has always shown a great sense of duty as a healer… She would heal anyone on the battlefield, even the enemy.

Even though she is kind and graceful most of the time, she will let others know quietly that while she may be soft, she is not to be taken lightly. Despite her gentle nature, several members of the Eleventh Division and even her fellow Captains fear her.

"Bu--But as your lieutenant, it is my duty to follow you" Isane protested, Unohana simply smiled gently. 

"No… as my lieutenant, it is your duty to take the reins of 4th Division in my absence" Unohana said tilted her head kindly. 

Isane wanted to protest but she couldn't, her Captain was completely right. Captain Unohana stared at her lieutenant for a few seconds and released a small sigh. 

"Isane, we have this conversation every week. I like to collect the Herbs myself. I also get to stretch my body…" Unohana said with a small smile and patted her lieutenant's shoulder. 

Isane also released a sigh and reluctantly nodded her head. "I understand Captain, I won't disappoint you" Isane said with a determined look on her face and Unohana gave her lieutenant a kind smile and walked away. 

Unohana Flash Stepped out of Seireitei and appeared on the mountains of Rukongai. She had a habit of coming here to the mountains every week to collect Medicinal Herbs. This gives her a much needed short break from everything. 

Unohana started to walk through the forest of the mountains in search of Herbs. 'Ah… the place is rather relaxing…' Unohana thought as she continued her excursion, but all of a sudden Unohana paused when she noticed something. 

"Hello… I didn't mean to startle you, forgive me if I did. I didn't think anyone would be here..." Unohana said with a smile on her face. Yes, the something she had noticed was a person lying on the grass…

[POV Reo] 

Just like that a couple of hours passed away and all of a sudden I paused as I furrowed my brows as a frown appeared on my face… I wasn't expecting something like this… should I stay or leave??

After contemplating for a few seconds I decided to stay. I won't be getting another chance like this and it would be simply a waste if I leave now. 

So, I sent away my books and decided to patiently wait. Lo and behold, after half an hour Retsu Unohana stumbled upon where I was lying down. 

As soon as she walked out of the 4th Division Squad house, I noticed her and that is why I was wondering if I should stay or leave.

But as I decided to stay, I started to use my Soul Powers to make her think that I am a regular Soul of Rukongai. She was beautiful even in the anime but in the real world… She was simply gorgeous.

"Hello… I didn't mean to startle you, forgive me if I did. I didn't think anyone would be here..." Unohana said with a kind smile on her face.

The anime didn't do any justice to her beauty. Her voice was simply melodious, now I am really glad that I decided to stay.

"No… it is completely fine and I wasn't startled… you are a Captain, right?" I asked Unohana who simply smiled. 

"Yes, I am the Captain of the 4th Division, Retsu Unohana" Unohana introduced herself with a gentle smile on her face. 

"Nice to meet you Unohana-San, my name is Itsuki Reo… you can call me Reo" I introduced myself and shook her head with a smile. 

"...It's nice to meet you too Reo-San, though I have to say that your clothes are pretty unique" Unohana said as she looked at me. 

"...Ah, yes. I only recently arrived here" I said, technically it wasn't a lie so it is fine. 

"Though forgive me Reo-San, I have to cut this short. I need to collect some Medical Herbs for my Division" Unohana said with a smile and waved at me. 

"...No problem… Maybe next time we could chat some more?" I asked and Unohana tilted her head in confusion but the smile on her face didn't disappear. 

"...Sure, I would love to" Unohana said with a smile and walked away. Like I have said… 'I am the luckiest bastard in this Omniverse' I mused as a smile made its way to my face… 

[A Few Hours Later] 

I was still lazing in the forest with a book in my hand. It was almost dark and Unohana had returned to the Seireitei a couple of hours ago. 

I didn't want to return to Knox as it was completely empty… the girls who have decided to attend Totsuki are going to live inside the campus. Nemuri had arranged an abandoned mansion for them. 

Even if I didn't want to leave, I wasn't going to spend my night in a forest no matter how relaxing the forest is. I released a sigh and appeared on my couch… Space Powers are lit…

(A/N: I will be making some minor changes to Unohana's powers).

[Urahara Shop, Karakura Town]

"So… have you found anything?" Hirako Shinji asked in an annoyed tone. He didn't appreciate that he was summoned out of the blue. 

"No… nothing yet but I do have a possible theory" Urahara said with a grin that seemed to annoy Shinji and Isshin even more. 

"Argh…!! Don't talk in circles, Urahara…!! What the hell do you mean by possible theory?" Isshin asked in an irritated tone. 

The fifth member in the room, Ryuken Ishida, was completely silent. He was sipping his tea with a calm look on his face. Yoruichi was simply licking her paws like any other normal cat. 

"I think that mythologies exist among us in this world… No, I am pretty certain that they exist" Urahara revealed in a dramatic manner. Both Shinji and Isshin got question marks all over their heads as they tilted their heads in confusion. 

Ryuken Ishida froze in surprise and asked "From mythologies, you mean Greek Gods?". A mischievous smile appeared on Urahara's face and he nodded his head. Ryuken Ishida scowled and placed his cup down on the table. "That is certainly worrying" he muttered with a frown. 

"Wait… wait… wait… what do you mean by Gods?? You mean actual Gods?" Isshin asked with an incredulous look on his face, Shinji was equally bewildered. 

"Yes… I mean actual Gods" Urahara confirmed and Shinji narrowed his eyes. 

"What are you trying to pull here Urahara? They are simply a myth… they are merely fiction" Shinji said while glaring at Urahara. 

"We are also a myth and yet here we are" before Urahara could say anything, Yoruichi spoke up for the first time since everyone had arrived. 

Shinji didn't say anything for a few moments and tilted his head in understanding. "You have a point" Shinji said and started to scratch his ear. 

"Wait!! You mean to say that there are Zeus and Hades running around somewhere in the world?" Isshin asked in a bewildered tone. 

"They might be… but I don't know anything about them. I was talking about Norse mythology… not Greek mythology" Urahara pointed out and started to fiddle with his fan. 

"Ok… Odin and Thor then" Isshin said after a small pause and Yoruichi smacked him on the back of his head. 

"So… how did you make this discovery?" Ryuken Ishida asked in a neutral tone. 

So after that Urahara started to tell them how he made his discovery. It took some time but Urahara finally finished his story. 

"This is really unsettling… you still haven't found this girl named Luna?" Shinji asked while tapping the table in front of him. 

"So… Yoruichi, how many toys do you have now?" Isshin asked with a lopsided grin on his face which earned him several scratches on his face. 

"No…" Yoruichi answered Shinji's question. 

"But you think this Luna is actually Hela in disguise as she had said that this Fenris is her pet?" Ryuken Ishida asked with a frown and both Urahara and Yoruichi nodded their heads with a serious look on their faces. 

"Hela, Goddess of Death and War… if her title holds any meaning, then I hope that you are wrong Urahara" Shinji said and once again Urahara nodded his head in agreement. 

"I agree but I don't think that we should ignore this… we should look for more information" Ryuken said everyone in the room agreed with him unanimously….
