The Devil's Sweetheart

Emerging out of the house, Kyle strolled close to the patio area and stopped at a little distance away when she spotted Devin standing with his back facing her. The moment she saw his dark ocellus in the hall, she expected the denouement but reality was arduous. The smiling face she had seen on him was replaced by trepidation and she had a hunch that he came to know about the things she has spoken to Leena.

Kyle squeezed her hands tightly and gazed up ready to face his wrath. But when Devin turned around facing her, she immediately thwarted her gaze not intended to look at his stormy eyes. His lethal stares felt painful and tearful to her as if his glare was tearing her heart apart with a blinding teal light which she had never seen since she knew him.

"Didn't I make it clear that I don't have any feelings for you. How despicable can you become to utter your nonsense in front of her again?" Her behavior right now was the worse he had seen her in the past. Devin did not realize the weak and vulnerable girl once he has seen would become a shrewd woman. If Leena didn't speak in her drunken stupor, he would never know the truth about Kyle's idiocy.

"Did she complain to you already? She is quite fast." Kyle let out a sarcastic smile. When Leena spoke about self-love, Kyle has thought about it way deeply and she started to see her in a different limelight. But she did not expect she would be the type of woman who complains everything to her man. They didn't even become one and she is already laying a tight grip on him.

"I am warning you. Don't talk about her with your foul mouth."  He was glad that Leena doesn't keep everything to herself like other women which would only end up the misunderstanding. Devin made a point to talk about it tomorrow when she gets up in the morning. He doesn't want to think to her that he is holding on to some other women.

"We have known each other since school. Is that leech important to the point of castigating me?" Kyle broke down watching his emotionless eyes. 

"You have quite guts call her leech again." His voice gruffed like the creaking of gallows. "Another slip of your tongue."

Kyle's lips began to tremble, her eyes threatening to cry when he imperiled her. She was almost on the verge of breaking down.

Since she was born, she never received love and care from her family. Her mother died due to cancer when she was five. Her womanizer father left without marrying her mother the moment Kyle's mother has become pregnant. Kyle was thrown into an orphanage when her scum father did not bother about her after her mother's death. Only when the head of the Sawyer family, Austin's father came to know about her presence, he brought back to their family from the orphanage. Even though she was approved in the family, she still carried the birthmark of an illegitimate daughter. Even after she was sent to the same school as Austin, Kyle was always bullied by her classmates, worse she was beaten to death once. No one came to her rescue. But he came. Like a knight, in shining armor, he saved her many times.  From then on, she admired him. She always looked forward to seeing him, found excuses to speak with him but Devin would never glance at her in the way she wanted to.

A mediocre student who can't even pass the test thrived hard to stand next to him. She was ready to confess her feelings. When she knew that he has arrived for the wedding, she has arrived only to see him and talk about her feelings but everything got shattered when Leena appeared. 

She has never seen Devin with a woman. Even when the most beautiful girl in the school was behind him, he didn't spare her and always maintained a distance with girls except with Leah and Harley. At least Kyle was happy that she could see him every day. She could not change the name of being an illegitimate daughter but at least she wanted to be the worth of the Wang family to stand next to him proudly. But that is also turning into a fantasy.

"Have you never felt my feelings once? I have given up my youth loving you, Devin." Why can't he love me? They have known each other for a long time. Why can't he carry me, hold me, and put me in sleep, caress my face just like he does it to Leena? He would bring mountains to her feet when it comes to her but when it comes to her, she is being treated as a spec of dust.

"I have never asked for your love in the first place." He never felt anything for her. That is the truth. Devin was about to walk away but her next words made her halt his footsteps.

"Then why did you save me from the bullies when we were in school if you don't have any feelings." She screamed at the top of her lungs.

"I would have saved even if it was some other girl. It's not my mistake if you get the wrong idea. I have always hinted about my feelings from the start."

"I am warning you again! She is my most precious treasure. If I hear again that you have hurt her or try to destroy her, you very well know what sort of man I am. Don't bring the worst in me. I respect women. Hold the esteem when I am being nice." Devin respects women because it is the greatest gift his dad has shown to him as a father and it is the first thing his mom has taught him as a mother. 

Devin fled away from the place leaving behind the wailing woman.

"You already made a mistake Kyle! There is no turning back except to face his wrath again." She dropped onto the ground when her legs gave off thinking of her another mistake she made.

Without waiting for a second there, Devin strolled into the room to check if Leena has woke up again. Watching her peaceful face lying on the bed, all his angst he had earlier was cooled down. Gazing at her calm demeanor, he smiled caressing her face moving close to her. Leena lightly stirred in sleep when she sensed the familiar scent but soon went back into a deep slumber when Devin began patting her back.

"I will not let anyone come between us." He whispered kissing her forehead, his gaze unconsciously landing on her lips. He had an urge to steal a peck but it wouldn't be fun when she is asleep. He wanted to see what crazy things she would come up with when their first kiss happens. Besides, he wanted it to be special and he wanted her to never forget it in her life.. Little did he know, it was bound to end up funny again with Leena's crazy brain.
