The Devil's Sweetheart

Chapter 393 - Truly In Love

The world stopped for the briefest time when her lips coarsely moved against his. He knew he would never forget this moment in his life. He wanted more of her, but his heeds didnot fit well with his plan because the moment he thought so, he felt a thud on his chest.

''Kyle?'' He whispered, raising his head to take a peek at her eyes. Her eyes lids were shut.

''Was I taken advantage of by this Loose..no..'' Kurt muttered in a voice close to the earth. He shouldn't call her either Loose case or Overweight. The foot pain is still fresh in his memory.

''Why do you hate women?'' Kyle mumbled against his chest.

''I don't hate women, dense girl!'' Kurt harshly shoved her body onto the bed. Kyle's body rolled a thrice before it came to a standstill at the edge of the bed.

Kurt threw the blanket on her body and turned around to leave. Not before he took a few steps, he returned to the bed spot again. He grabbed the blanket and tucked her body warmly under the covers. While covering her neck, his gaze shifted to her lips for a split second. The kiss flashed before his eyes.

Kurt immediately closed his eyes shut and turned around. While going to his room, he heard a mobile ring. Assuming that the strange ringtone must be Kyle's, he went to the couch and grabbed the mobile. Seeing the contact name, Kurt choked on his rage. ''She hasn't yet broken up with this criminal?''

With no one answered, the call disconnected, and just in time, a message notification popped up on the mobile from the same name. Unable to unlock, Kurt went to Kyle's room. Like a thief, he stole her fingerprint and settled next to her on the bed. He opened the latest text messages from Landon. [Landon: Why aren't you replying to my texts today, babe?]

''Take a hint when she is not replying, bastard.''

A few seconds later, another text came in.

[Landon: What are you wearing right now, tell me?]

Kurt's grip tightened over her mobile, controlling the urge to throw the mobile on the floor. A thought crossed over his mind. Smiling to himself, Kurt typed a message. [Kyle: What else? I am wearing Clothes.]

Kurt received an instant reply. [Landon: Hmmm..are you teasing me, babe? I know you are wearing clothes. But what kind of cloth is that?]

[Kyle: Cotton.]

[Kyle: 100%. Comfort comes first]

Without waiting for the reply, Kurt deleted the logs and blocked Landon's number. ''He is a disgust to mankind.''

Throwing the mobile on the bedside table, he stared at Kyle. ''Trouble creator.'' He flicked her forehead, earning a faint cry from her. ''Not like you suffered a pointed heel attack, unlike me.'' He laughed, soothing her forehead where he attacked. He then went back to his room.

Kurt flipped, switched positions, but the flashes of their kiss were keeping him at paling until weariness caught him at dawn.

Peeking through the sheer curtains, the morning sun rays greeted her, creating a golden hue across her face. Opening her eyes, Kyle groaned in pain. ''Argh! How much did I drink?'' Fluttering her eyelids, she studied the room and immediately realized she has hit the wrong button. ''OMG!'' Kyle screamed, climbing out of bed ''He would be preparing a weapon to kill me.''

Before leaving, Kyle checked herself in the mirror. A wrinkled dress and a bird's nest. She wished to dig a hole and never return. Kyle tried remembering yesterday's incident while smoothening and combing her bird's nest hair with her hands. Except for bits, and snippets, she doesn't recollect much.

Walking straight into the kitchen, she took the water bottle from the refrigerator. The moment she closed the door shut, Kyle was startled when a tall figure towered over her. ''K_urt.'' Kyle stammered, trying to find an excuse for coming to his home unannounced. ''I am sorry for coming_''

''Don't drink when I am not around.'' He cut her off in the middle. ''Breakfast is at the kitchen countertop. Eat it before it gets cold.''

Kyle nodded, staring at the ground. At that moment, Kyle noticed a fresh bruise on Kurt's foot. ''The bruise seems deep.''

Kurt glanced at the bruise, which has turned brownish. ''A nasty cat had scraped with its paw. I will have to tame it.'' Kurt said.

''You have a cat?'' Kyle asked. ''I don't see it anywhere?''

''Not visible to mortal eyes like you.'' Kurt flicked her forehead. ''Get ready. I will drop you at home.'' With that, Kurt left.

''Owww.'' Kyle rubbed her forehead. ''He is not growling like a mad dog,'' Kyle grinned. ''So, I didnot create any ruckus?''

...

The atmosphere in the car was eerily silent. Although Kyle tried to strike a conversation, Kurt's one-word answer irked her.

''Did I do anything wrong yesterday?'' She finally asked, not liking his behavior.

''Nothing.'' He said. A few seconds later, he added. ''You don't remember anything?''

''Not much. I asked for dinner...that's all I remember.''

How can she forget the kiss they shared? She might have dated many to remember her first kiss. An immense sadness overwhelmed him. After dropping her home, Kurt drove to the office.

Nothing except Kyle's face comes into the picture when he tries to focus on work. When his frustration reached pinnacles, he opened google to check the fluctuations in his emotions. He stumbled upon a site that asked him to answer the questions to know his behavior.

[Do you often find yourself thinking about one specific person?]

Kurt contemplated for a second. ''No doubt she is at the back of my mind,'' He clicked on 'all the time,' and the next question pooped up.

[Are you able to focus on work?]

[What do you feel when you see the person?]

[Do you feel jealousy]

Patiently, he answered all the questions and submitted the finish button. Nervously, he waited for the page to display the results. 3..2..1 0 Boom.. His heart dropped, seeing the content displayed on the screen.

[Your head is in the clouds. That's it, you are in seventh heaven. You are truly in love.]

''Me? Love?'' Kurt pointed his finger at himself in disbelief. ''Am I really in love with that Loose case?''
