The Devil's Sweetheart

Leena and Uncle Pumpkin stayed in Reese's room for an hour before departing. She pulled out all the necessary details from Reese for further interrogations. "According to Reese, Jasper dated girls in school. So, the sudden shift in his sexuality might be because he got to know that he likes Andrew. If Andrew also likes girls, then both must be bisexual. Now the question is should I route to Andrew and Jasper's toxic relationship or Andrew and Reese's adorable relationship?"

With a loud sigh, she walked into the bedroom and jumped into Devin's arms throwing his laptop aside.

"What's wrong?" He kissed her hair draping his arms around her shoulders. "Are you still mad at Savny?"

"No. I will take care of that brat later." Leena let the matter of Cutie aside. "Can you wake me up at five babylicious?"

"Why?"

"Mom is getting discharged the day after tomorrow. I have lots of her stuff to pack. I doubt I can complete it in one day with my office work."

"I will send someone to_"

"I want to do it, Devin." She interrupted him drawing circles on his arms. It's her way to act cute and get things done.

"Fine, I will tell Nick to get ready by five." Devin grabbed his mobile and texted Nick about Leena's plan.

Silence prevailed in the room for a while. Both were in a pool of thoughts. Leena was thinking to ask if Devin has decided on the honeymoon destination but at the same time, she doesn't want to sound desperate.

"Leena," Devin spoke up twirling her hair. It has become a habit of playing with her hair when he is in deep thoughts.

"Hmm?"

"Do you like countryside honeymoon?" He asked.

Releasing herself from him, Leena turned around if really meant it.

"It's just a suggestion from my end." Devin quickly explained. "If you don't want_"

"No. I just love the idea, Devin." When she was young, her Meemaw would take her to the countryside picnics to relax and rejuvenate. She enjoyed playing outdoor games. But the countryside honeymoon is such a brilliant and unique thought. "What is the place name?"

"Maine." Watching her squeal like a child, Devin's mood lifted.

"Ahhh! Maine!" Leena peppered with her kisses all over the face. "I have only seen in pictures and I love that place. Are we going by flight or by road?" Leena couldn't control her happiness. 'It would be two of us alone. Good food, natural beauty, outdoor activities, and most importantly my babylicious. OMG! I can't ask for more.'

"I will leave it to your choice. By flight, it's an hour journey to Portland then we can go by car. By road, it would take around five to six hours."

"We will go by flight and while coming back, we can plan for a road trip." She added. "But let's not go by your private jet." Leena wants to recreate the memories of the flight journey she experienced with Devin during her trip to Seattle.

"Alright." Devin agreed to it because he has his people monitoring them closely. "We will be staying in Maine for ten long days. Are you fine with next week?"

"Can you push it to the week after next? I have to buy clothes."

"You have enough clothes already!" Devin lambasted her, his eyes turned cold. "It looks like I have to build a separate mansion for your clothes alone."

"Alright, idiot! Don't scream. I will skip this time." It was just an act otherwise this annoying fellow will start another lecture to which she didn't want to listen to. Leena planned to bunk the office one day without telling Devin and take Nick along with her to the shopping. That fellow is obviously in her control. How could the great fashionista wear old clothes on her honeymoon? Not even in dreams.

"Good that you have become obedient after our marriage." Devin was delighted that he is controlling this brat but only if he knew. Pulling her closer towards him, Devin spoke up. "Leena.."

"Hmmm.."

"Leena.." He called her again.

"Tell me, babylicious." She patiently asked. It's the first time Devin is acting like a kid.

"I am just happy today." It's just another day but he was extremely happy for no reason. "Be ready. I will not let you sleep. We will only come back with little Leena or little Devin in your tum from Maine."

"Ah!! Don't tease me, Devin." Smacking his chest, Leena buried her face deep into his chest turning beat red. "But I want to enjoy time with you for a while." She loves children but before welcoming the little happiness, she wants to spend quality time with Devin. "Are you sad?" Leena raised her head to see if he was unhappy but he was not.

"No, at all. I am glad that you told your viewpoint." He nuzzled his nose against her lovingly."Honestly, even I want to enjoy my quality time with my sweetheart."

"Ah! You are so considerate, babylicious." Leena beamed in happiness for getting an understanding husband. "We will have a full performance for two years and then welcome little Leena 'and' Little Devin."

"Where did my good girl go?" He asked in amusement.

"Every good girl has a naughty side and I am your naughty girl." She was the shyest person among the three friends but her naughty side naturally comes out when Devin is around.

Her words provoked his demons inside, Devin swiftly flipped her body and came on top to devour her but seeing her dark circles, he remembered she did not have proper sleep due to the party decorations. "Go to sleep, you did not have a proper sleep."

Nodding her head, she closed her eyes before pressing a good night kiss on his lips. Listening to her even breathing, Devin also drifted to sleep.

The alarm was buzzing in the morning but Leena was in no mood to wake up."Turn of that alarm, Devin..." She groggily said hitting on his chest.

"I told not to keep continuous alarms." Eyes closed, he struggles to find the mobile and turned it off. "Get up, Leena. It's the sixth alarm. You have to go."

"Hmm...Five more minutes." She snuggled closer to her comforter.

Five minutes turned into an hour by the time Leena woke up. In her sleepy mode, she got fresh, came back, and pulled the blanket up to Devin's chin, before going out.

"What took you so long?" Nick asked as he opened the door.

"I forgot to wake up." She sheepishly replied feeling guilty for making him wait.

With a sigh, Nick stepped out and Leena followed behind him scowling.

Two security guards were standing next to Heather's hospital room. Leena smiled at the two people and as they opened the door for her, a woman bumped into her suddenly.

"I am sorry madam." She apologized bowing her head and quickly walked out of the room.

'Isn't it nurse Mary. She is acting strange today.' Leena brushed the thought aside.

"Mom...I brought Nick again. Last time you liked his company right?" Leena went towards her mom's bed. Terror mounted with every step when she saw Heather struggling to peel off the IV drip needle from her arm.

"What's wrong, Ma." Fear spiked in Leena when she saw her mom's struggles.

"I think there is something wrong with an IV drip," Nick told when he observed a needle prick in the bottle.

The second Heather nodded her head, Leena peeled off the bandage and the needle without a second thought. Heather was awake when the nurse came in to do regular check on her but she was too lazy to open her eyes. An odd sense of danger triggered in her when Mary attached an IV drip because when she met Roman yesterday, he told he has instructed the nurses to stop putting on the IV drip. With eyes half closed, Heather peeked to check on her surroundings and her suspicion confirmed when Mary injected a drug into the IV drip. To not raise a suspicion to her, Heather closed her eyes silently praying she would go and as if her prayers were answered she heard Leena's voice from outside and Mary immediately grabbed her stuff to go out.

"Ask the security to call the doctor, Nick! Go and catch that nurse." Shouted Leena. Tears rolled down her cheeks. She checked the IV drip quantity, it was still full. Leena has no idea why her mom was striving to pull off the bandage but she sensed a danger from that nurse. "Don't worry mom.. I will not let anything happen to you."
