The Devil's Sweetheart

Chapter 22 - 50% Discount

Devin was sitting in his car recalling their earlier encounter. He still couldn't believe meeting her today was a dream or real. It might only be the third encounter for him, but he felt an immediate connection the moment he saw her for the first time. He was drawn to her in the way he had never experienced before. His raging heart, beating at an accelerated speed was proof of it.

Wake up, Devin! You are acting like a teenager now.

When he came back from his reverie, he suddenly felt something was a miss. Just then he saw a man coming out of the hotel walking towards his direction. He was so immersed in teasing his little kit, he did not even pay attention to the left alone person. Drew! I am done now! I have to listen to the endless nagging now.

"Vincy, How can you leave me alone in a room with that woman?" He walking yelled from a distance. Devin had to shut his ears immediately with the intensity he is shouting.

"Why are you behaving as if she has taken advantage of you." He started the engine once Drew settled in the car.

"She kicked my leg and didn't even allow me to touch the smoothie." Drew was cursing her internally again and again. At first, she tempted him with the smoothie and then kicked him. Greedy Devil. His leg still felt numb with the powerful kick.

"Don't mind her. She loses temper at times." He stated as a matter of fact.

"How do you know her! Why are you acting so shamelessly in front of her?" He was again yelling at him continuously while Devin was turning a deaf ear to everything. He has never seen Vincy acting in such a way with any woman and why it has to be that devil woman. She can even talk to ghosts. She must have cast a spell on his best friend.

"Quiet Drew. Your voice is loud enough to wake the dead"

"I will not allow you to be with that witch. She is_"

"Oww." Devin hit him on his head.

"Don't call her that. She has used her brain to escape form a date." He would never allow anyone to badmouth his little kit even if it is his best friend.

"Now, you are even taking her side. She has put a spell on you Vincy." Drew was fidgeting over the idea of telling all these events to their friends Will and Jasper to get their best friend out of this situation.

"Spell!" Devin mumbled and smiled. "That explains why I am possessed."

"Woah! You are really smitten by that witch. For god's sake, she can talk to live ghosts!" Drew barked. I should immediately visit the Prieston church and get the holy water from uncle Johnson to put it on him. If Devin would have listened to his inner thoughts, without mercy he would have thrown him out of the car.

"Andrew." He sighed. "Why are you scared of those invisible ghosts."

"If I am scared, then what about your brother." He scoffed. That idiot is twenty now, he still doesn't step in to the bathroom at nights without under someone's watch.

"He is still young. You are grown up to be a criminal lawyer, yet when it comes to ghosts you threw every logic out of the window?" He wondered if both Drew and his brother have seen something in the past to be this scared.

"So what? Is there a rule that lawyers shouldn't be afraid of them?" He countered. At least he is admitting he is afraid of them. There are people who put up a bold front even though they a dead scared.

"Not a word to Will and Jasper about today. I will kill you if it goes out of your mouth." He decided to divert the topic. Every time all their friends gather together, there are two people who always end up bringing those creature stories again and again. He will not be wondered if his friend is thinking to vomit out all the contents to them already.

Being in a happy mode, he was smiling and even whistling while driving the car thinking about her without knowing how much commotion he has created on the other side.

...

Leena walked into her office cursing and shouting for meeting that brazen man. Her employees addressed but she was in her own world.

"What's wrong with her?" Renya wondered. Should I inform Reese?

"She clearly looked distressed." Naomi voiced out.

"Looks like someone has provoked this witch." Mandy scoffed.

Reese rushed into her room without even knocking when she was informed Leena was in a very bad mood.

"Leena what's wrong. I heard from Renya that you were worried about something." She hurriedly asked and wondered if she had gone too far in the afternoon.

"Nothing!"

"Then why are you dull?"

"I am not."

"Are you on period?" She asked worriedly. Her mood swings always flared up when Leena is on period.

"Are you blaming on my damn period Reese Allen."

"Hey! They have put a 50% discount on your favourite dress. Shall we go and shop it." Reese knew only shopping can calm her down during her mood swings.

"Am I that cheap in your eyes who go after every discounted clothes! Can I have little peace for myself." She yelled. Despite she was tempted for a second with the offer, it died down when the moment she remembered him.

Reese ran out of the room with the way her temper was rising. God knows what she will do to her if she is still present there.

...

Leena was speeding the accelerator like a racer. Carrot and Reese looked at each other from time to time, but they couldn't voice out anything. After they reached DewGarden she did not even wait for them and walked away. They silently followed her. Uncle pumpkin has just arrived and was about to key his password when he heard a pair of clicking heels. He turned around to see Leena walking out furiously. He tried to talk to her but she was a walking dead without listening.

"What's wrong with her. Did something happen in the office?" He asked. He always sees a cheerful and crazy Leena and now her look worried him.

"She went on a date in the afternoon and from then on she is not herself. She keeps talking to herself."

"Get her to my unit. You know about her alcohol tendency right. A glass of wine, she will spill out all the contents." Uncle pumpkin winked at Reese while she gave a thumbs up for the quick solution.

"I am not drinking." She knew her alcohol limits and she doesn't want to tell all the shameless things that man has told her. She has never seen someone openly flirt with her until today. Why is he appearing in my life again and again? Is he taking revenge for what I have done at the Serene hotel? Judging by the way he was talking to her, she clearly felt, this is not the end of their story.. She was sure he would appear in her life again.
