The Devil's Sweetheart

Chapter 204 - Disapear

It was a lively evening and the house was filled with laughter. When Francis informed Devin was on the way, from then on, Leena has been standing at the door waiting for him like a kid waiting for their parents. Not before she waited for half n hour, a car slowly moved into the entrance.

"My heart!" Leena clutched her chest in awe. Her heart skipped a beat when Devin stepped out of the car with athletic grace.

"Vinnyyyy..." Leena screamed and dashed towards him. With the loud voice, Devin looked in her direction and smiled at her.

"Were you standing at the door all the time?" His voice laced with concern. Devin checked her face thoroughly and breathed a sigh of relief when she was fine as Francis stated. The men he has assigned for her informed him about the commotion that happened at the party and he immediately called Francis. To his relief, he has arrived on time.

"I am fine." Leena understood his concern. Unnecessarily, she troubled them. "Francy arrived on time."

"Next time even if you cry, I will not allow you to leave for any party alone." He sternly declared. What kind of father raise a hand on a grown-up daughter. There was only disgust for that man. He wouldn't slide this matter aside easily. He knew how to teach him a lesson. Tomorrow he would be mourning for his company while his stocks get plummeted. Even if Francis is against it, he wouldn't agree this time.

"Alright," She sighed. "Don't get mad now. I will take you as my date from next time."

"I am mad at another thing also." He grumbled with a sulk.

"What is it, babylicious?" She wrapped her arms around his arm like she always does.

"Why don't you answer for me? You claim to be a mind reader right?" He released his arms around her and moved a little distance away from her.

"Great relationships are based on clarity, not mind-reading," Leena quickly covered up when her scheme bounced back.

Seeing his reluctance to talk about it, Leena ransacked her brain and only one thing entered her mind. "Oh, my jelly! Is it because of Reese?"

Devin neither agreed nor denied it. He has watched a live show where Leena was being interviewed and as usual, it was a witty answer. Instead of men, he has to get worried over women. Reese and now Harley also.

"You even messaged Jasper for permission to court her." He muttered remembering Jasper's words when they gathered together. Although it was in the past, it still bothered him.

"It was just a prank." She pouted. "I am strictly straight, babylicious. Only the touch of your fingers on my skin, I could never find that feeling with anyone other than you."

A smile escaped from his lips. Even if he listen to it countless times, he would still act like an inane.

"You look beautiful in this dress, Leena." He whispered.

"Thank you." She replied shyly.

"Did you enjoy that night?" He whispered pulling her closer. He planned to ask the next day but eventually forgot. Her shyness was evident that she liked it. "Shall we try it again if you like it?"

Leena nodded her head shyly. Despite they didn't go all the way, it was the best moment. She never thought physical intimacy would be so good that she craved his touch more and more. But it's not the time. She brushed off the thought. If she doesn't stop, he would start from here. "Let's go inside. I am starving. I did not even eat waiting for you."

"I doubt that, monster." He held her hand and walked inside along with her. He doesn't believe this glutton would leave her food aside and wait for him.

As he went into the hall, he saw Reese talking with Grandmother Margaret. Sensing someone's presence, Reese stiffened and looked back to see a murderous gaze from him. She gritted her teeth in anger. What have I done to him? He can't keep his girlfriend in check and always try to target me.

....

Right after the dinner, Devin quietly walked into Francis's room when Leena was engrossed in chatting with the rest of the people in the hall.

"She is doubting us," Francis said without lifting his head.

"We will cook up a story like her when she catches us." Devin settled in the chair and grabbed the file Francis was looking into.

"I doubt we can pull out the acting like her." He chuckled shaking his head. She is a crazy monster.

"This is the list of people in the hospital working around Heather." Francis continued. "My friend Roman is in charge of treating her and the background of every doctor treating Heather is thoroughly checked by him," Francis said. For the past three years, he has been trying to know about that Phsyco but couldn't. He was happy that Devin found a break for their case.

"Can we trust Roman?" Devin asked.

"Yes and I can assure you," Francis added. "He is trustworthy."

"But I don't suspect anyone from the hospital," Francis added. "Do you think that bastard is misleading us in the wrong direction? What if he is something else unlike you are thinking?" Francis asked.

"There is a possibility," Devin said. "But we don't have a choice unless working on the clue we got for the moment. Let's wait for him to show up, France. He can't stand in darkness for a long time."

"Alright." He sighed. He wished that bastard would get the worst disease and die to let them have peace of mind.

"I will take my leave then," Devin glanced at his watch. It's time to go home and have some fun with his darling.

"I forgot to tell, my Leena said I am the best," Francis said to annoy him.

"I heard the compliment from her countless times." Devin retorted. Jealous man. He is trying to provoke me again?

"She meant the world. I received a compliment that I am the best man in the world." Having said that, Francis left the room.

"It's just a compliment." Devin snorted and left the room with a loud grumble. I will send him a voice message of her compliments every day from now.

...

Seattle...

"I had dinner already in the home." Despite Ethan's protests, he was dragged to the diner into a hotel by Casey.

"We hadn't had the dinner for a long time, Ethan." Casey pouted. She wanted to have a fresh start with him forgetting about Leena's incident. If Leena has not disclosed that Casey has a hand on it, no one would know. So, there is no way Ethan will learn about it and she wants to forget everything for now.

Ethan sighed and took a seat in front of her. He has been giving hints that he doesn't have any feelings towards her but she wouldn't listen. Even his mom would never understand him.

While sitting in the chair, Ethan was dazing again when he saw a familiar face in the picture. He smiled at the happy expression on her face. At least he is happy that Leena is happy now though he is not the cause of her smile.

"Ethan." Casey held his hand. "Can you accompany me to chose a wedding dress?"

Ethan broke from his reverie and looked at Casey with a complicated expression.

"Can I ask you a question?" He started. He has a hunch that she knows something about Leena's disappearance.

"What is it?" She asked putting a salad into her mouth. To look best for the wedding, she has been on a fruit and vegetable diet for a month.

"Did you meet Leena before she disappeared on that night?" He asked looking at her expressions.

Casey flinched at the sudden question.

"No." She easily lied and started eating. Casey could never forget that day. Ethan should never know about what happened on the day Leena disappeared. He would hate her for life long if he knows about it. If Ethan knows that I have used his mobile and asked her to meet at a different location instead of a Cafe, he would not even spare her life and never talk with her. Casey doesn't know what happened between Ethan and Leena but suddenly Leena stopped talking with him and Casey felt happy that she could win him over without any objection.

But he was reluctant. Despite Leena's rejection, he called Leena continuously and one day she accepted to meet him at a cafe. Ethan was on cloud nine and informed Casey that Leena finally accepted to meet him. But as instructed by the nameless woman, Casey conned him and gave her another location for meet up. While he waited at a cafe, Leena was in another place and then the disaster happened.

"Alright," Ethan said. He knew she is lying. Wilbur doesn't talk with him.No one will answer his question except for Leena.. Even if she hates him, he was planning to go and ask her why she didn't meet on that day.
