The Devil's Sweetheart

Chapter 162 - Meemaw

Clad in a mid-length red flared skirt, it was paired with a white shirt and matching red lace-up boots. Despite in the sixties, in the modern and stylish outfit, she broke out the style rut.

"I am impressed, Marigold." Devin stepped out of the car, still in barrier reflecting as if the person in front of him was the same Margaret Rivera he has been seeing from his childhood.

"I am not a marigold, cheeky brat. Call me grandmother or Meemaw." She threw the duffel bag on to Devin and stepped into the car. "Load all my bags into the trunk."

"Did she buy the whole of Korea?" Devin stacked everything into the trunk and stepped into the car.

"I heard that you are in a relationship with my granddaughter?" Margaret marveled.

"Indeed." Devin winked. "Words travel faster."

"Of course, my son would never hide anything from me," When Francis called Margaret and informed her that Devin and Leena are together, she booked the fastest flight and rallied here.

"Don't tell Leena that we knew each other until our official meet up," Margaret grinned when she thought of playing with her granddaughter.

"Roger that, Marigold," Devin added. "Where do you want me to drop?"

"Drop me at Leena's office. It's been a long time I have seen that brat."

"Fine. By the way, my grandfather is expecting you at home."

"How dare that old monkey commands over me? When I asked him to pick me at the airport, he gloated about his beauty sleep as if someone would fall for that long in the tooth ." Margaret complained. As she wanted to surprise Leena and Francis, she didn't inform them about her visit and she called her friend, Devin's grandfather to pick her up, but as usual, his response has blown her top again. "Does that old monkey knows about Leena, Devin"

"I haven't yet introduced her to him."

"Don't tell him. Tomorrow I will piss him off." By the time Margaret protested about her friend, they reached Leena's office.

"I am not taking my luggage. Send it to Heacis mansion without alerting my son." Margaret ordered, stepped down the car, and immediately put on the aviator sunglasses to protect her eyes from the sunlight.

Devin was also inclined to visit the office to see Leena but Margarette sent him away since she wanted the full attention of her granddaughter for herself.

Reluctantly, after Devin parted away, Margaret called Reese for the security to bypass and stepped into the office. The employees working silently screamed at once when they saw their favorite grandmother and scrambled together to a spot to speak with her.

"Granny, we missed you," Naomi shouted.

"Grandma...I am so happy to see you after six long months." Renya and Megan cried put.

"Woah...my lovely children, the six months trip was worth your cries." Margaret squealed in happiness seeing the employees crying happy tears for her. She lent the duffle bag to Reese and asked to distribute the gifts she brought for them.

"Get back to your work, my sweet disciples. It's time to see my granddaughter.." Having said that, she was about to leave Leena's room but her legs halted at a particular desk where a woman was working with her head clipped down. "You have become as fat as a beached whale in six months, Mandy."

Hearing the words, Mandy balled her fists and looked up. She heard the turmoil in the office and she knew that the old woman has arrived. Both grandmother and granddaughter phrases are sharper than the blade and Mandy did not want to have egg on her face again. So, she didn't go to greet her. But who would have thought, she would poke her deliberately. With pursed lips, she spoke up. "Hello, grandmother. I am not getting time to work out nowadays and hence I have put on a little weight."

"If you quit gossiping on my granddaughter, you will have ample time to work out." Margaret gave a knowing smirk.

"I am not gossiping on_"

Before Mandy could complete her words, a scream echoed around them followed by a loud voice. "Meemaw!!!"

Margaret instantly became prudent hearing her granddaughter's voice followed by a tight hug.

"I missed you," Leena exclaimed. She heard a cacophony voice when she was working and immediately sauntered here to yell at the person for causing a disturbance but she was surprised to see her Meemaw here.

"I missed you a lot, my granddaughter." Margaret's eyes were filling with tears catching a glimpse of Leena after six months.

"How are you?" Leena released herself from the hug and gazed into her grandmother's eyes. "Why didn't you tell me that you were arriving today? I would have come to the airport to pick you up."

"Well, I wanted to surprise my granddaughter," Margaret pinched Leena's pointed nose. "Are you free now?"

"Of course, I am free for you always," Leena called Reese to take care of the urgent matters and went along with her grandmother.

"What is this new avatar? You have completely adopted a new style." Leena asked guiding her grandmother to a hotel holding her arm. Despite her age, she has taken care of her body well, but still, Leena would love to hold her hand.

"How is it? Do I look cool?" Margaret posed.

"Damn cool, Meemaw. You look like a model."

"Ah! My lovely granddaughter, stop with you praising." She blushed and took a sip of grape juice."I heard that you got a boy_"

When Margaret was about to speak about the most important matter, her phone buzzed. With a long frustrated sigh, she grabbed her phone and when she saw the content of the message, her eyes bulged out.

"What happened, Meemaw?" Leena asked taking notice of her panic.

"Francis knows that I have arrived in New York. I have to leave." Margaret grabbed her phone quickly and got up. Francis didn't want to allow her into New York without the bodyguards due to the recent assassin attack on Wilbur but and she has arrived without informing him. "Go back to your office, Leena. I will take a cab."

"It must that old monkey. He would have complained to my son." She whispered and rushed out of the restaurant.

"Meemaw, wait. I will drop you....."

Margaret was gone.

...

Since she doesn't have any work in the afternoon, Leena thought of stopping by Devin's office to have lunch with him. If she asks him directly, he would fly back here and she did not want to disturb him in case he was in an urgent meeting. So she texted Harley.

[Harley: Does he have any meetings in the afternoon]

Her phone tinged with an immediate response.

[He doesn't have. Even if he has, he would postpone everything for you.]

[Harley: But I don't want him to skip the meetings. I will be coming to your office. Don't inform him]

[Sob Sob...You are arriving when I am not in the office. Don't worry. I will ask someone to escort you, Leena]

[Thank you and no worries. I will invite you to my home and we can spend time together]

[Harley: Love you, darling. Bye-bye. Have a nice 'chat' with my brother]

With a smile, Leena walked out of the restaurant, and right when she reached Devin's office, as it was afternoon and many of the employees were loitering here and there, all the eyes were on Leena watching her intently. "Oh, my beauty. How I wish God would have bestowed a little beauty to others."

With a sigh, she looked for the person in the reception and she found Blake waiting for her. He did not want to escort Leena but he doesn't have any choice except to oblige Harley's wishes. He escorted him to the guest-chamber on the topmost floor and insisted politely. "Please wait here. Devin is busy with an urgent meeting. I will inform him once it is ended."

"Harley told that he doesn't have any," Leena asked. She could see that Blake was not insinuated by her from the time he escorted her to the room.

"Harley doesn't know because she is not here today. We never know when Devin would be free or when he would be busy. He is not the usual man. At present, he is at a conference. If you are busy, you can come on a different day." He explained.

"You can leave. I will wait for him." Leena affirmed. The change in Blake's demeanor and Leena understood that he doesn't like her. Does he has a feel for my Devin? or is it some other reason? As if I care about this foul-mouthed man.

Leena collapsed on the couch and waited for two long hours but Devin did not come."What kind of meeting he is in that's taking so long? I am hungry." She pouted and there was an urge to message him but controlled sensing that he is in the meeting.

Right when she was about to take a short nap, Blake entered the room again. "It's better you go home. The meeting is extended."

"You don't like me, right?" Leena asked frankly. His facial expression of dislike was evident on the face.

"I hate arrogant women," Blake said. After Leena left the WD office on that day, Regina informed him that she was the one who has pushed her to the ground when she was trying to save a kid, and from then on, he disliked Leena to the core. He was blinded by his arrogance towards Leena to see the actual truth.

"Correction. I am an intellectually arrogant woman and I don't have time for your rubbish talks. When is the meeting going to end?" Leena demanded. If it's going to take time, she was planning to go home instead of wasting time with the person in front of her.

"The meeting will be extended and it may take another three hours. You should go hom_"

"Who told you that I am in a meeting?" A rough voice echoed around them followed by footsteps and the atmosphere in the room instantly changed running chills down on one's spine.
