The Devil's Sweetheart

The first rays of the sun shone through the maple grooves turning the stillness into a peaceful morning. When a familiar sound tickled the serene soul, her eyes flew open immediately.

"Get up lazy sloth. We have to get ready for the Treasure hunt game today." Drew began poking her until Leena woke from her slumber. With his endless nagging, like a lazy cat, she stretched her body before she got up from her bed.

"What is the scum's position now? Was he taken into custody?" Leena inquired with a lazy yawn. She has hacked into his system yesterday and deleted the videos he filmed on all the women and notified every woman so that they can approach the police without any panic now.

"What can I say? He is missing and I have no idea where he is hiding," Drew added remembering Trent's mad dog accusations when they delivered him to Kurt precisely and now when he looked into the morning tabloids, Trent has been put up into the most wanted list stating that he escaped from the police. He very well knew Kurt's caliber but couldn't fathom why he was making any moves on in search of Trent.

"What do you mean by missing?" Leena frowned in shock. So all the efforts I have put into deleting the videos went into vain? Wait!! Does it have anything to do with him?

Leena rushed into the other room and when she saw him still sleeping, she sighed in relief. But still, she has a qualm about him, for he is not easy to trifle with. His looks might deceive everyone but Leena could see the monster facade which he is hiding way smartly. Brushing her thoughts aside, Leena went into her room and gazed at the package Drew was unwrapping.

"We got the outfits delivered in the morning," Drew pointed, unboxing the package. Together, they ordered outfits to steal the limelight for the exclusive treasure hunt game.

"Wow!! They have delivered quite fast." She smiled with a nod when she was satisfied with the color and the fabric.

"Let's get ready and rock the show." Both fist-bumped each other with joy. With a happy mood, they busied themselves to get ready for the feat.

The crowd stood in the garden along with their treasure hunt chits awaiting for the game, in between gossiping on Trent with the scandal that broke today.

"I can't believe he is such a scum. I am a big fan of his movies. He should be hanged for abusing women." Wendy added slurping on to her as a usual lollipop stick.

"You are right. But he effortlessly escaped from the cops." Salsa said, getting a little away from Wendy again. How many lollipops does she eat in a day? Every time I see, she would be licking onto lollipops except when she eats her food.

"But I strongly believe he is captured by someone. After all, he has abused several businessman wives. What if it is one of them doing?"

Wendy commented."I hope he is_"

Her words died when she saw Leena coming out of the house in a stunning cowboy outfit. When everybody in the garden gasped seeing her outfit, Wendy flared her nostrils. I have picked up the most beautiful dress and she is the one to get credits now? She dashed towards her with jealousy.

"Hey, crazy Leena!! What's in your paper chit? Let me see if you have become my pair?" Wendy demanded looking at Leena's beautiful cowboy's outfit feeling jealous of not getting such a beautiful innovative idea.

"Why looking into it when it's not going to be you? I would rather find a lake full of piranhas and jump into it instead of getting paired with you." Leena scoffed walking away to avoid her spraying juices. She was glad, Leah has given a heads up that Wendy was her partner on the first day. She couldn't imagine spending her whole day with this lollipop creature.

When the names were called out one by one, they got the necessary stuff and clues and started their journey in the directions they were bestowed immediately. Since the game was set up in a forest, it would take a while to find the treasure in the dense forest, so they started fast. Drew and Jasper were eagerly waiting for their names to be called up and their suspicion started when only four were left in the tow.

"Now I call upon Mr. Cat on to the stage!! Please come forward." Leah said, grabbing a pack of essentials for the next team.

With a proud smile, Drew entered the stage in his cowboy outfit waving his hands at everyone despite, barely four to five members were available in the garden.

The moment Drew left the place as if a thunderstorm hit him, Jasper's face went pale. When did this monkey fellow become a cat? Did he also exchange his paper with someone and we are now back to the square? Can this day get any better? I put all my efforts just to end up with him again?

"Now, I ask Miss. Mouse to come and shake hands with his partner Cat." Leah announced.

Drew was peeking at the people especially Leena anticipating she might become his partner but to his shock, he saw the person he least wanted to see. The glow in his face faded when Jasper slowly reached the stage. When did he become a mouse? Did he also peek into my chit and exchanged it with another person? Can this day get any better? I struggled to get rid of this donkey.

"Aha, I see the fuck up fairy doesn't want to part with my handsome face," With gritted teeth, Jasper shook hands with his mortal enemy.

"Handsome? You must have been born in the dark ages. You look terrible in the light, donkey fellow." Drew shouted jerking his hand away.

"Your face could scare the shit out of a toilet, monkey fellow," Jasper yelled.

"If you don't end your fights, I will kick both out of the house. Trust me, I meant it. I am tired of babysitting you both." Leah whispered with burning rage but still maintained a smiling face in front of others.

Both instantly shut their mouth with the silent threat.

Staring at the pair, Leena was on cloud nine thinking that even fate couldn't rip them apart. Maybe they could sort out their feelings now that they got their alone time. I should give you some advice. Leena rushed towards them to congratulate the love birds before they would fly off into their dream forest.

"All the best Mr. Cat and Miss Mouse. You look cute and the best pair I have ever encountered and I hope you will workout with your feelings. I heard going wild in the forest would be adventurous. You have got a full day in your hand." Leena giggled imagining it already.

"What did she mean by working out with feelings and going wild in the forest?" Jasper and Drew scratched their heads not realizing Leena's inner thoughts.

Sensing their confusion, Leena dragged Andrew a little away from Jasper to talk to him and guide him properly.

"Don't always let him explore the black hole, idiot. It's not healthy. Speak to him properly and make him understand." Having said that, Leena winked at both and fled away not to embarrass the love birds further.

Without any vigilance, Leena stood in the garden waiting for her turn. After all, she already knew her partner and eagerly waiting for Devin to turn up. How would he react if he knows that I am his partner? Her thoughts halted when Leah called out the last pair.

"Now finally, I request sugar to come forward," Leah proclaimed.

Looking here and there, Leena was searching for Devin when a familiar voice entered her ears.

"Don't you want to play the game, sweetheart?" The smooth baritone of his voice reverberated through Leena's bones.

She instantly turned around and when she caught the sight of his enchanting smile, her heart skipped a beat. With the rustic denim jacket rolled up to his elbows and paired with blue pants he was looking dapper along with the black shades. Added with the slight stubble, his features were rugged to be described in one word. Does he look attractive always? Leena's gaze inclined to his wrist which she always does to check if he has changed his wristwatch and it was no surprise that there was another one. Her thoughts flew back to the watch lying on the drawer which she bought it a few days back.

"I know I look dashing but you need to wipe your drool first, darling. " Devin felt the rim of his lip tug into a mischievous smirk when he witnessed Leena rubbing her mouth already.

"Idiot!! You tricked me again." She started hitting him and when she heard an announcement for the sugar to appear, Leena stopped smacking and glanced at him.

"I am not the sugar Why don't you look at your paper. After all, we are the only two left alone." Leena said.

Unfolding the paper, Devin displayed it in front of her eyes. Upon seeing the name, Leena's eyes bulged out of her socket. Did I go blind? I have exchange the papers two days back indeed. He must be the sugar right? Why did he become spice? Unless...

"How did you exchange with my chit when I have put it in a safe place," Leena asked, without knowing she let the cat out of her bag again.

"And what does that mean? Did you swap with mine already?" Devin questioned, his smile threatening to come out of his lips when her face looked like a deflated balloon.

"I_I didn't_

Silently collecting the stuff and the necessary clues, Leena quietly started walking for being a blabbermouth to expose herself.

"Take it, easy darling. I know you cannot win every time with me." Devin fondled her hair closing the distance. He did not mean to check her chit deliberately, for it has happened unexpectedly and he was inclined to see them, partners, again.

" Sugar and spice." Devin was pleased with their pair up names. Right after the unexpected clash of sugar and spice, everything felt nice.

"Aren't we tyrannizing mates, sweetheart. Everybody is talking about it." Devin asked out of the blue.

"Tyrannizing mates? In your dreams." Gritting her teeth, Leena yelled. "Shout out to the world and ask them to experience our witty banterings also."

"Well, I don't need to shout. We have already gathered enough attention."

Having said that he dragged Leena from the place collecting the necessary items they wanted for the game.
