The Dawn of the New World

Chapter 311 - Beast-nado

The trio had a scrumptious dinner, although Fortis ate the most. It was around 10 p.m when they went to sleep.

Time passed by slowly as the only sound in the vicinity of the camp was the billowing of the wind.

Fortis was laying beside Hao Xuan's pillow on the bed while Jin Wang took the floor after losing in rock paper scissors three times in a row to Hao Xuan.

A small puddle of drool was gathering right next to Fortis's mouth while he licked his lips and mumbled, dreaming about heavenly food.

"CHOSE!"

*GASP*

Hao Xuan abruptly opened his eyes and shot up from the bed. He looked left and right but there was nobody there.

"A dream....?" he muttered to himself while trying to recall what he had just seen. But it was almost like there was a hazy cloud inside his mind and no matter how much he tried, he couldn't see through it.

He let out a deep breath and checked the time. It was 3:55 A.M exactly. After trying to recall the dream once again he gave up and went back to bed.

But just as he had closed his eyes, a sound came from outside.

*Rattle*

"Hmm?"

With furrowed brows, he looked to his left and saw Jin Wang hugging a pillow in deep sleep, and to his right was Fortis now chewing on his own tentacle.

*Rattle*

The sound came again.

He got out of bed once again. As he opened his right palm the Glaive naturally appeared in his grasp.

*Thrmm*

It vibrated slightly, happy to be in Hao Xuan's presence once again.

Hao Xuan raised the glaive and pointed it towards the door with his right hand, and with his left hand, he slowly leaned in and opened the door.

*Creaaak~*

The door creaked open even though it had never made such a sound before. The materials used to craft everything in the camp were top notch and wouldn't get worn out for thousands of years so this was of course out of ordinary.

Hao Xuan held his breath. Not making any sound at all. His heightened hearing came into full effect as he could hear even a grain of sand move outside.

"What?"

He swiftly opened the door and stepped outside with large steps. His eyes almost popped out of his skull.

"Holy fucking shit..."

The rattling was coming from the metal plates and cups placed near the campfire. They were attached to one another like magnets and moved now and then by themselves.

But that wasn't what had shocked Hao Xuan so much.

The portable camp was on the side of a cliff. It was overlooking hundreds of thousands of miles of land in front of it. And right now that entire area was nowhere in sight.

It wasn't that they had been somehow moved away, but something was covering this 100,000+ kilometer area.

"OI! WAKE UP! WAKE THE FUCK UP!" Hao Xuan shouted at the top of his lungs while running back into the cabin.

*Snort*

Jin Wang simply turned around and placed the pillow over his face. Hao Xuan pulled back his foot and then shot it forward like a bullet, kicking Jin Wang in the shin.

It did what it was supposed to and immediately woke him up.

"!!!! OWW~! YOU C*NT! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" he bellowed painfully while rubbing his leg which was swollen now.

"Get dressed. Right now! We have to leave," Hao Xuan replied while putting on his clothes.

Jin Wang still wanted to curse a lot more but he decided to check out the situation outside first. He limped over and opened the door and as expected, his mouth fell open.

"Sweet baby Budha, why didn't you say something sooner?!" he yelled while putting on his clothes.

"I did, just hurry. They will be here soon."

"I know, you don't need to fucking tell me!"

In less than a minute they were fully dressed and already outside. Hao Xuan recalled the portable camp and tucked the still asleep Fortis in his shirt while summoning the Walking Lizards.

The lizards were still tired so upon being called out so soon they looked over at their owners with big puppy dog eyes.

Hao Xuan flicked the forehead of his Lizard and quickly got on, as did Jin Wang.

"Shut it, we don't have time for this. I'll feed you something good if we make it out of this alive," he said while patting it.

The lizard still seemed dissatisfied and as it turned its head sideways in annoyance, it saw the same thing Hao Xuan and Jin Wang had.

The Walking Lizards were very cowardly creatures. There was not an ounce of courage anywhere inside them so when it saw the situation, it almost had a heart attack.

"See? Now hurry!"

Hao Xuan repeated. The lizard didn't tarry for even a second and started climbing straight up the cliff like its life depended on it, and it did.

They had only made halfway up the cliff and it was already 40,000 meters above ground while its top wasn't even visible and was covered by a thick layer of clouds, or rather an entirely different atmosphere.

The Lizard started climbing at full speed, shaking small rocks and boulders loose and making them roll down.

But they didn't have time to worry about anything like that at the moment.

"Loud~"

Fortis was woken up by all the commotion. He poked his little head out from Hao Xuan's shirt and looked up at him with weary eyes.

"Why loud?" he grumbled.

Instead of answering Hao Xuan grabbed his head and turned it sideways, "That's why."

Fortis went from half asleep to completely attentive in less than 0.1 seconds.

With a wide smile, he crawled out of Hao Xuan's shirt and sat on his head, "Wahaha, so big!"

Hao Xuan turned around and looked outwards with a worried expression, "That's the problem..."

A hundred kilometers away from the cliff was a wall of dust, debris, and wind that completely blocked the view. No, it wasn't a wall but a very small portion of something much larger.

A tornado of epic proportions.

One so absolutely massive that it could swallow half the earth.

Within this tornado were even bigger silhouettes, dozens of kilometers long. They were repeatedly clashing with one another and creating shockwaves that went on for god knows how long.

And bit by bit, the tornado was coming straight towards the cliff.

"Come on, faster!" Jin Wang smacked his Lizard's butt, making it increase its speed by another notch.

A few thousand meters below them was a wave of beasts that were also trying to escape the tornado by climbing up the cliff. It was coming straight towards them and would probably reach them within a few more minutes.

Hao Xuan looked back and noticed a few beasts that were the same size as the termite he had seen yesterday, at about 7-8 kilometers in length.

"This isn't looking good," he mumbled.
